  1. There does seem to be some inconsistency in the use of Plane and Planes here, though that might be my lack of understanding. I thought there was basically one Hero Plane, and that's what the HQ:G rulebook refers to.

  3. Argh, sorry, please ignore.
  4. Argh, sorry, please ignore.
  5. It seems to have been a "mistake" that it wasn't capitalised on the RQ2 cover/logo. Because throughout the RQ2 rulebook, the text refers to "RuneQuest".
  6. Wow, this is a great (re-)find. Just ordered a used copy of the book for 40p (plus shipping) from Amazon UK.
  7. Babies are still acting within time though, even if they don't understand it. And the imposition of time onto adult sentient beings must surely have been something of a shock to the system. Suddenly everything was linear.
  8. Look at the "u" of the new logo, for example, which other logo does it most resemble on that list? I'm a bit disappointed in the generic-looking new logo, but if that's the least good thing about the new RQ, then I won't be disappointed overall!
  9. I always wondered whether that "bronze" was a similar thing to the way that Homer called the blue sky "bronze". Though Homer does also refer to other things as "bronze", even when applying a colour doesn't make sense (unless Homer had synesthesia?).
  10. I love maps in general, and I especially love the one on p.159. Makes me immediately start comparing it with other maps, and it's very nice to see Jrustrela etc, as @jajagappa said.
  11. How can that be, since Time didn't exist? I don't expect there can be an answer to my question, since it's impossible for us time-bound creatures to understand a world without Time. A bit like trying to understand a world with four/five/whatever dimensions.
  12. The Kalikos artwork is stunning. I think that we're all very lucky that the Kalikos Society decided to commission it.
  13. There were certainly humans and the Elder Races before time began, yes. But I can't begin to imagine how they dealt with there being no concept of time, and then suddenly there was time. How could a mortal deal with such a thing? I don't recall this being described.
  14. p.168/171 - on p.168 (Starbrow Rebellion box) Fazzur Wideread's hair is described as black. But on p.171 (2nd paragraph) his head is said to have "grey hair". If I'm not mistaken these are descriptions around the same time, and this isn't just an ageing thing. p.191 - Religion, "Balazarings religion" should either be "Balazarings' religion" or "Balazaring religion".
  15. This. I imagine that a lot of newcomers to Glorantha who read references to the "Bronze Age" setting don't really understand what that means exactly, apart from bronze being in use so weapons looking "funny" compared to what they might imagine. I too would have though that more emphasis on the "ancient world" would be more meaningful, since it would distinguish Glorantha from the more common medieval settings used in fantasy RPGs. Stonehenge was mainly a Neolithic creation, with only the very start of the Bronze Age being a time of construction there. The main Bronze Age activity at Stonehenge was the building of barrows nearby, as well as (presumably) use of the monument itself. Sure, there were some rearrangements of the stones during the Bronze Age, but the main "building" was Neolithic.
  16. Looking good. Any further news on the Glorantha Sourcebook, @MOB, is that in layout too? I hope it can be released independently of 13AiG, since I imagine the latter is bigger and will take more layout and editing work.

  18. I think that the Bronze Age comparison can be quite misleading, because it seems to me that if you take the whole of Glorantha (as opposed to just, say, Orlanthi in Dragon Pass) then there's more that isn't Bronze Age than is. I think it was a great tag for the game in the RQ2 timeframe, but as time has gone on and Glorantha has become a fully living, breathing world, it's (dare I say) outlived its usefulness.
  19. Kadone the Grounder (in Sartar: Kingdom of Heroes) does seem highly relevant here, good catch.
  20. I found this from Jeff in 2007 (Source http://glorantha.temppeli.org/digest/worldofglorantha/2007.12/4605.html#4609qlink1)
  21. I just created a new thread for the gravity discussion, so as not to derail this one.
  22. I thought we should take this tangential discussion out of the "Top ten ways Glorantha differs/is like the real world" thread. It was started by @Zit asking: @Jeff had some words to say in this back in 2013, in the thread that @Joerg linked to: It makes me wonder whether things fall at the same rate no matter what their mass (as mentioned in the other thread here), whether there is terminal velocity (due to air resistance in our own world), etc.
  23. p.165 - 3rd column, 1st line, "Most the forests" should be "Most of the forests".
  24. Good point, but I can't imagine that Harmast hadn't tried some "modern" heroquesting out before undertaking his Lightbringers' Quest. I would have thought he'd have discovered the possibilities through experimentation before going for the big one.
