  1. Actually for over 25+ yrs that I ran my own Traveller campaign, it was set in the Verge sector but virtually 95% of the campaign realm and background was all mine. What I used was the footprint of where the star systems were and that was about it. I made up pretty much everything else, plus I have always used alot of house rules...many of them that were directly tailored from BRB. So thus as I am redoing my own campaign now I am stromgly leaning towards building my own new star map and going with a alternative BSG theme campaign but using BRP game mechanics. Penn
  2. Hey now this product looks like it might be fun to read and another must to have and add to my library! You guys are going to make me both go broke with buying all these great products and having to add yet another libray bookshelf unit again. Penn
  3. Although there was a while there were TSR books for I think D&D ver 2.5 were pretty bad and fell apart oh so quickly if I remember correctly. Penn
  4. ok "Thalaba" I stand corrected and bow my head in saying that I was wrong and to say I am sorry. Now for me I own everything for both Conan and Traveller and all of my books are in great shape and no issues at all. Now because I don't mangle any of my resources, they should all be in perfect quality anyway. I have read and referenced all of my books and still no issue. As to typos or etc, I just fix the issue or over look that altogether anyway. Alot of times I and my own comments or campaign notes in the books as well too anyway. Penn
  5. Excuse me...."Thalaba" but you've got some nerve making a statement like that! Mongoose does not now or ever had "Shoddy production quality". I own all there line of 1st and 2nd edition Conan products and everything that they have done for Traveller. They have done a awesome job, and feel your comment is uncalled for and Unfounded as well. If that is your own personial feeling then so be it, but on what do you base it. Do you actually own ANY of their products at all? If so then which ones...? As I said I own everything for those two lines and I feel that they have done a fantastic job on everything they have done. Penn
  6. Just follow my above post to mongoose forum and read for yourself what happened. It is all reaveled in total if you read through the total thread. Penn
  7. Ok folks here is the Link to the Mongoose - Conan forum about what happened: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/forum.php Ok then select "Conan" forum, then go to page 2 and look at the Locked topic of: Conan Plans Unveiled - Deepest Apologies You can start with Post (1) from Mongoose Site Admin himself explaining what happen and read the next 25 pages of comments. It is all explain in there...folks. Penn
  8. Hey it sounds like another good resource product to have and add to the growing resource library. You do realize your all making me run out of space AGAIN<g>! Penn
  9. I need to go to the Mongoose Conan forum and find the link that expalins what and why Mongoose had to drop and stop their further support of Conan. Once I have the time to look for it and post the link here you can all have a read and see for yourself. There is a "Owner" other than Mongoose and basically they are calling the shots...sorry to disagree with you, but once I find the posts you can read for yourselves. Penn
  10. For me I always have to build and talor my own campaign setting, but rest assure I will also purchase the product to be used as yet another resource material for my ever growing resource library. Penn
  11. It would be rather easy to convert Traveller to BRP, and for my fiew there is just a more complete and fuller character system and combat system with BRP than Traveller. The system of 2d6 that Traveller uses is rather a simple system. Now since Traveller has added a new magic system, with a 3rd party product came out also with a alternate Magic system, I thing that BRPs magic system would also work as well. I actually perfer a much more fuller magic system myself, BUT in Traveller...Magic hardly ever comes up anyway...it is more Tech basesd anyway. Penn
  12. Also the Magic system for BRP is much more advanced than the new simple system that is now in place for Traveller. Penn
  13. The real issue here is that Traveller is a rather simple 2d6 system and BRP is a much more fuller system which in my eyes rolling d100 % is easier to grasp and etc. BRP just adds more stuff to the mechanicals systems is all and is alot alik or in common with the Traveller system. Conversion from Traveller's system to BRp is a easy process and fits well. Penn
  14. The reason is that someone owns the rights to Conan plain and simple and they are calling the shots. They pulled the plug on alot of Conan material, and there is talk of new Conan movie as well too. Honestly I always thought Conan magic was a little lame myself, being a D&D fan for so many years I like alot more powerful mages myself or magic system in my own fantasy campaign. Now that doesn't mean I want the gobbs of Monte Hall magic that D&D seems to always have, but a much more indepth and slightly stronger version than is normally in Conan. Also I like to have more than just Humans, I like Dwarves and Halflings as PC races too. In my game Elves are Fae...and are NPCs only. Penn
  15. I think with the addition of more support products for BRP it will begin to build a greater following! Penn
  16. Yes it was, I too collected all of the Conan materials but I still have all of mine. I have all the 1st edition materials as well and it is a bummer that most likely that line is dead for Mongoose! Penn
  17. Wow Sarah, Sounds great, can't wait till it is a "printed" format so I can add it to my library<g>! Thank you very much, Penn
  18. You know in the fall around Halloween here on the East Coast of the US especially in Penna. you can find Pumpkin Spice Ale that isn't all that bad. There are a couple of makers of it but it can be surprisingly good...especially ..."Cold"! Penn
  19. You know I have played/DM'd D&D using versions (D&D, AD&D, ver D&D 2.5, and ver D&D 3.5 d20) and I have NEVER had or seen a honestly played character EVER get above level 13. When ever I see anything higher than 13th I call THAT campaign a "Monte Hall" campaign. It is BS no one honestly can get that high playing in a realist style game. My players play every other week on wednsday nights from 7pm till 11pm (4 hr long gaming season), and it would take years to get that amount of exps needed. We do lots of Roleplaying, and hunting monsters and etc. There is no free lunch or exp gifts given in my games, a player has to earn their own way. I have been running both my D&D campaign and Traveller campaign now both for 25+ yrs. My gamers (5-7 players)have all been playing with me as the DM/GM now between 13-15 yrs running. I guess I have figured out what works well, and know how to keep players interested in staying and playing within my games. These others that allow "Ubber God" characters are Monte Hall GMs that don't have a clue how to DM/GM. I have also noticed over the years a trend to pandar to these Unrealistic high level characters, and turns my stomach. Get real, try playing a low level character from level one and really roleplay the character. Play and really earn everything from scratch, it is much more enjoyable for you and the DM/GM. Sorry I will get off my Soapbox now... Penn
  20. Well anything Viking is always a great item to have and anything on the Fae is yet another great must to have as well too. Penn
  21. D&D vesion 4 is Evil...pure EVIL<g>! I have played D&D in one form since it first came out some 34+yrs ago and REFUSE to purchase yet another version of the darn game. I have stopped with D&D version 3.5 d20, and have continued to buy Pathfinders revised rules set version 3.5.1 d20. I will continue to buy there stuff, but am coming to see that I should just convert to using BRP since many of my own House Rules come from BRP anyway. I might as just make the total conversion over anyway. Penn
  22. Traveller stats are 2d6 where BRP are 3d6. They have some of the same basic stats but some differences too. Don't sweat the differences, just rework any charcter stats and just figuure out how you are willing to convert the skill levels issue. then use the more indepth BRP game system mechanics. Penn
  23. Well the stats for a character are just that stats...just scrap the Traveller ones and just reroll BRP ones. As for skills, well set a beginning percent and for each level a player obtains in a skill just give them (you decide as the GM) either +5% or +10% to their d100 percent role for that skill. Next the skills can pretty much just convert over, and just use the rest of the stats and etc from BRP. For me there really isn't alot of work to be done or converting really. Penn
