  1. You made my heart skip a beat.....good one
  2. Influences....hmmmm....The tone of the sci-fi is probably most akin to the TSR roleplaying game Star Frontiers and the Mass Effect video games (space-opera action-adventure) . Definatlly more Aliens (the James Cameron version) than Starship Troopers.
  3. i think the -1 and -2 modifiers refer to armors that traditonally feature a helmet, such as full plate, riot gear and futuristic assault armor. If your wearing full plate without a helmet you would adjust its armor rating -1 or -2. wearing chainmail plus a helmet would add +1 or +2 to your armor value.
  4. a nice crunch reducing option,interesting.
  5. actually i looked into the CoC rules and Stormbringer.....both games state that its a +5% bonus for every 10SIZ above 30.....so the example should say a SIZ 60 is +15%
  6. in the spot rules under Big and Little Tagets it states that the attacker adds + 5% for every 10 SIZ the target is above SIZ 30.Then in the example is says the bonus to hit a SIZ 60 target is +30%. Shouldnt it be +15% to hit a SIZ 60 target? either that or the bonus is actually +10% for every 10 SIZ above 30? Or are you totaling up the entire size score in increments of 10, if its above 30?....like a SIZ 40 target would be +20% to hit? CoC just states that its +5% for every 10 SIZ above SIZ 30.....so im still thinking a SIZ 60 target is +15% to hit.
  7. I havent been notified yet as to when it will be published....according to Dustin it might be awhile as my monograph is 4th in line to be dealt with.
  8. Operation Ulysses was submitted to Chaosium 1/6/11....Dustin told me that the monograph was 4th in line to be dealt with.....so some others are surely coming our way, although i have no idea what they are.
  9. Im with Rod on this, Ability or Abilities may work as well.
  10. chaosium@chaosium.com and fergie@chaosium.com
  11. Let me summarize the book without giving out a table of contents, as I’m afraid that some of the chapter titles might spoil the fun for players. The book is a scenario book (one long scenario) and a resource book second. Chapters 1-11 (pages 1-113) deal entirely with the main adventure (maps, player handouts, adventure text etc.). One chapter deals with a starship that has four levels and 169 fully detailed areas. Next is an “Enemies List” section that provides stats, descriptions, powers and equipment for all of the adventures adversaries. The Enemies List is provided as a GM resource and it goes from pg 114-120 and includes 21 different enemy types (robots, alien commandos, mercenaries, soldiers, medics, scientists, technicians, Spec-Op units etc.) An optional “Creatures” section provides four new creatures with suggested optional encounters. After that are the “Major NPCs” write-ups and stats, 18 in all, pg 121-129. Next are the equipment, vehicles, and weapons sections, detailing all of the items within the adventure, pg 134-156, around fifty pieces of equipment/vehicles (and a Mech) and thirty weapons. Last is the “Species” section, pg 156-182. This section includes thirteen new species. A couple of the species included have multiple forms, one has seven variations. There were more species written up but they have been held back for further analysis.
  12. Well, the monograph is finished at last. Preparing to submit it this evening. final page count was 182.
  13. This does indeed sound promising,i guess ill be picking up a copy of the OpenQuest rules. Thanks Newt! How compatible are BRP & OpenQuest?
  14. I was just wondering if anyone has used BRP to run games in a modern military setting. If so, what style/type of campaign was it, did you alter the combat system or house rule at all, what optional rules did you include and how prevalent was combat?
  15. Blasphemous Knowledge (Cthulhu Mythos) can only be increased in CoC by reading mythos tomes or encounters with the mythos that drive one insane, and investigators cannot start with points in the skill. Occult allows one to recognize occult paraphenalia, words, concepts, grimoires, etc., not specifically linked to the mythos.
  16. 20mm grenade launchers,yes....dial in range exploding bullets?..no.
  17. Pagan Publishings Delta Green has a large selection of modern firearms.Totally compatible with BRP. When Operation Ulysses is completed it will offer around 35 new weapons, many of them science fiction based.
  18. I just bought 1 x The Yith Cycle 1 x Masks of Nyarlathotep hardback 1 x In Search of the Trollslayer 1 x Shards of Azathoth (dice)...to put me over the $60 mark;)
  19. Its posted on the official website now...BRP hardcover at the printers...early 2011 release. YES!
