  1. v1.1 up! No more stupid modifiers! Everything is either +30% or -30% http://basicroleplaying.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=413 Also, somehow tables came out REALLY bad on the PDF. I guess it was the curse of the werewolves!
  2. Down till i get back home. Hopefully i would be able to upload version 1.1 with no BS modifiers for combat (just +30 / -30 or nothing)
  3. Just deleted it. Will see if i re-upload it after we finish our GM stuff, posting at gringles atm. Triffle, mind deleting the thread?
  4. Actually, if the average human is SIZ 13 at 75 kg, the average blue whale should be size 31200 at 180 metric tons or, going at 6 enc = 1 siz , size 30k. If we go by body length, the same siz 13 175cm human has an average blue whale counterpart of 222 siz , but then again, a blue whale is WAY more bulky than a human the same size, so id add a 50% more size for a grand total of 333. So, make your pick: 222, 333, 30000 or 31200 =)
  5. +1, i like "scale" more than siz "cat/midget/human/troll/horse/rhyno/elephant/blue whale" scale works MUCH better for me than "siz 1-3 (whats a cats siz anyway?)", siz 6, siz 13, siz 35, siz 60, siz 120, siz 250 (and i probably got the last 3 wrong).
  6. Ok, our house rules evolved to the point we weren't playing BRP anymore... So we picked up GORE, added all our rules (all 3 of them) and then beat the crap out of it, until most things were gone. Here's RetroQuest, a lean, clean system, with minimal (really, HP only) bookkeeping, few (less than 15!) basic skills and some more advanced skills. Combat is deadly and fast, and all the slow things from BRP are gone. Also, the languages implementation is probably the best thing on the game. Its only 27-pages long (22 if you take out license, cover and index), so you can check it out realy fast! And the best part is... NO WEREWOLVES!!! Guaranteed!!! http://basicroleplaying.com/download...do=file&id=413 Coming soon: A magic book (with wizards, shamans and clerics!!!) A creatures book (warning: may have werewolves) Also, if you prefer an HTML version: https://sites.google.com/site/rqadventures/ (probably outdated!) I'd love to have some feedback from you guys! PS: F**K WEREWOLVES!!!
  7. Ill take the scorpion any time. Actually, id rather fight 100 scorpions than a single crocodile. Or an equal mass of scrorpions than a croc. (you know, scorpions being slow and squishy and dying when you stomp on them, vs crocs being faster than you and chomping you in half and all that). Unless its this scropion: Then yes, death by croc please!
  8. You trolling rite? I dont know a single person that can't do a x5... =/ =/ =/
  9. But... But... LEGEND? C'mon!!!! How come mongoose is publishing RQ under an original name? I wish they think this through... It's such a let-down!!! Can't they go for something like... IDK, GORP, or RuneSlayers, or even HeroWars...
  10. As a GM i would use 21. Published rules in different products for maximum stats are: Max Rolled + Min possible Max Rolled + Min possible counting up to +6 as 1 die Max Rolled +3 I generally used "+3" or +min counting fixed bonuses as +1. Otherwise on a game where magic is being used (and possibly POW sacrificed for) an elf would have an unfair advantage. At the moment, we train stats almost as normal (STR or CON up to SIZ or max roll, DEX and APP +50% or max roll), and beyond that and up to racial max (max roll + number of dice, a +something counts as 1) you roll over STATx5% (96-00 always a success). That includes POW (so is harder to gain than RAW) but then again, you only sacrifice POW for very specific things (gaining a familiar/allied spirit, that kind of stuff)
  11. Roll POW x 5 - x3 and apply the fear spell results? Thats that i ad-hoc. For animals, they just run away. Cavalry/War horses require ride rolls to stay in combat
  12. WHOA!!! THE Christian Conkle? Love your site and lightspeed!!! COOL!!! What happened with Fuzion? btw, i never used superpowers, and usually multispell beats area effects, since you don't hit your friends. If you are familiar with it, you can use it, or use it as area, or heck, just port area blast from fuzion!
  13. Sure those trolls never met Avril of Lavingia and Fak'k' Inaw-Som, her demon-horse!!!
  14. Open Source 3D Graphics Engine??????
  15. 5AP! Linothorax was teh bestest armor evah!!! DOWN WITH CUIR BOUILLI!!!
  16. What i would use: No choosing characteristic values; supernatural beeings use higher starting characteristics; no point-based generation Education and knowledge roll; no cultural modifiers Players as supers is your call Step six & Increased personal skills (only for humans if you mix supers and humans on the party) Total Hit points, no fatigue points, DEFINITELY use sanity Distinctive features & freeform professions are always nice Aging is your call Skill bonus are always nice, the simple ones suck Complementary skills are always nice, and acting without skill is a no-no No literacy, No research specialties (i just plain don't like them) Skills over 100% only for supers; they can go over in atk/parry and split Pick your opposed skill roll method Encumbrance is useless Do use initiative rolls, whatever initiative you pick No powers. Supers already have their own built-in. Mages may use magic (if they are a Mage-like mage) or sorcery (if they are a cultist-like mage) No dodging missiles. AT ALL! Dying blows for supers Armor should be fixed (modern armor is rare and quite effective) Allegiance to dark stuff from beyond time is cool If players are gona go supers, total HP for them; otherwise it's just overkill
  17. Then SIZ+8 is TOTALLY POSSIBLE to train, and up to SIZ+16? for powerlifters. Of course, we have way better training methods and supplements today, but STR should totally be trainable over SIZ (though if you want to reach your full potential you must start young)
  18. As a rule of thumb, an elite athlete for combat sports and the like can bench press about 200% his weight.
  19. I liked this one too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAGX3pdVPTA
  20. How good are those people? (they seem preety good to me, at least from my martial arts background; no glaring mistakes while moving, and very good timing) I always thought that armed combat involved way more parrying and less getting hit; that video looks exactly like unarmed combat, where unless theres a huge difference in skill levels, you get hit no matter what.
  21. They cant divide or multiply by 2... What makes you think they can multiply by 20? (i HOPE 5 is fine). Bottom Line: BRP is not for the faint of math!!! ;) . PS: I stand corrected, im preety sure they can, they just feel its too much hassle.
