  1. Yes, correct. I'd throw money on a RQG addon for those books. Edit: Another issue with older material is the different time setting in RQG, which is a few years forward. Coming Storm and Eleven Lights cover 1618-1625, whereas RQG is 1625+
  2. It is fairly easy to use older material, even from Heroquest. What will take time is creating enemy stats suited for RQG. But with the bestiary and rulebook it is doable. Can even use the Mythras enemy generator with some modding afterwards. In my opinion the two Red Cow books for Heroquest are the best material produced for Glorantha. They are fantastic.
  3. I saw they had removed them from their shop for now. Now those misprinted dice will become collector items! Or maybe not. Perhaps they can be used for Broo with one extra large leg mutation. Will wait for them to put up the fixed set.
  4. Thanks for the update, looking forward to be able to buy them. Did you salt water test the balance?
  5. Not wanting to go into a political discussion, but are there any chances the trade war with China could affect future prices? As I understand it is for specific goods, so books are not affected I guess?
  6. After racking up a few troll kills, I'm pretty sure the character might get some attention from nearby trolls. Even with 115% skill, after a few attacks, that last one Great Troll 2H maul attack will be -60% to parry.
  7. Perhaps in the future when things settle down a bit, Chaosium could create a "Free Runequest resources" entry on the Runequest menu and add things there like the quickstart and sheets, and excerpts from the books. I don''t know if it would be usable, just a thought I got.
  8. Great! All done with free or donate software too.
  9. I agree with you, good reasoning. Thanks for the info about the Quickstart. I just skimmed it knowing that our group was going to be busy until the full release later.
  10. It's not black magic to print and ship books, even if logistics require a lot of work. When we get a "has gone to print" from Chaosium we can also estimate a delivery time for shipping over sea. Sure people are eager to get books, but I find that is normal for fans.
  11. I saw there was some discussion on art in the G+ group. I just want to add that I am happy with the art. Yes, it might not be as colorful as the rule book. But I would think that for most games, supplementary books sell a lot less than the rule book which affects budgets.
  12. In general, I am not a big fan of using small exceptions to create individual rules for three different ways to augment. Instead of keeping one ruleset for augmenting, there are three - which has rules in four different chapters for some reason. Game system chapter The text at page 144 is trying to describe it in general but in fact the table with results is only usable for augmenting with Skills. This section should be cut a lot, with only very basic descriptions on how it works. Then referring to the separate chapters for full rules. Skills chapter On page 163 we have the rules for augmenting with skills. First a very minor issue, the header “Augmenting Skills” is one step to small. Second issue is that the section is to short. It assumes some rules from page 144 are used as a base for augmenting with skills. Both runes and passions used for augmenting are fully detailed in their respective chapter. As an example, it doesn’t state you cannot use skills several times for augmenting here. It is assumed to be known for the game system chapter. Whereas runes chapter repeats the rule. Third issue is the example in italics. It uses the movement rune for augmenting, not a skill. Which of course is a bad example as rune augmenting uses slightly different rules. Next issue is that skills do not have an explanation on duration. The other two have this detailed in their respective chapters, for example runes stating that it works for the duration of a combat or battle. Last issue is that it doesn’t explain if you get an experience check for successfully using a skill to augment another ability. For rune and passions this is explained in the rules. I can assume you do not get an experience check, but it would be better if it stated so in the rules specifically as we are working with exception based rules here. Rune and passions chapters No big issues here, rules are detailed and seemingly complete. If anything, why are a failed result on passions giving a -10% on further rolls on that passion, while runes get a -20% on a failed attempt? Skills get -20% on the ability you are augmenting instead. Seems like a typo. If not, it is again creating micro exceptions which are unnecessary.
  13. I created an account and started fooling around a bit. Looks good. For me the Quickstart sheet was default, so had to switch it to the full one in settings.
  14. Page 98 is great! Also Dragon Magic, wohoo!
  15. I bought it. Had to do a hard refresh (Ctrl+F5) of the download page once to be able to download the PDF after purchase.
  16. So how long does the detected objects glow ? Fifteen minutes? One melee round? Five melee rounds? It doesn't say as far as I can see. If it is instant as the spell, then it would be just a flash on/off and you would not be able to see any glow and not anything except for the direction you looked. I really wish there was no "carry overs", I don't like having to reference RQ2 to be able to guess the meaning RQG rules. Like when the term "Focused" is not explained in the RQG book. Also as I said earlier with the new all encompassing Focus rules I think they should just cut it out if it is as you guess. Detect spells would be "Ranged, Instant, N/A".
  17. Correct. But I think"Requires focus" would be clearer in that case. And it also would create fairly unnecessary exceptions to the otherwise encompassing Focus rules. No, I think there is something else than that. Examining further, Detect Magic has the description "objects glow visibly to everyone within sight". I still think it should be "Active" and perhaps also have "Temporal" instead of "Instant". Which sets a time limit to the Detect spells, but you also has to concentrate on it to keep it "Active". If detect magic is Instant and not Active, how long does the effect last?
  18. No, I don't think that is the case. All Spirit Magic spells require a focus as per p254. Not sure about the keyword though, could be a remnant of something earlier as you said before. At the very least they are typed in wrong order. Now that I am talking about them, I also noticed several spells only have two keywords. For example Binding Enchantment has "Ritual (Enchantment), Passive" and Sleep has "Ranged, Temporal". I would much rather have them typed with a "N/A, Ritual (Enchantment), Passive" if a keyword isn't applicable. When I expect three keywords but get two, I have to use logic to understand which ones I got. It is of course easy in most cases.
  19. While reading the Spirit Magic chapter, and also the Magic chapter the Detect spells list "Ranged, Focused, Instant" (corresponding to Casting Range, Duration, Spell Type). First thing the last two keywords are switched. But then I could not find details on "Focused". I believe it should be "Active" as per p247 "Types of Spells". So shouldn't the Detect spells should be "Ranged, Instant, Active"? I have the 90,6MB PDF rule book.
  20. Thanks for the great summary which I just quoted one line from above. Regarding the maps, I understand selling maps are not financially viable. I hope we can get PDF companion books like the "Sartar Campaign Pack" PDF for HeroQuest. That PDF just contains the maps in high resolution, making it easier to fix prints of maps for private use. Maps in most PDF books are often compressed to much and get jpeg distorted text and details not suitable for printing. But the separate book with maps only have much higher resolution maps, and is suitable for printing. As an example, the new Dragon Pass map in the RQG book looks great, it's just to low resolution to print in large size with good quality.
  21. I'm looking forward to every upcoming RQG book. The teasers are fun but also increases my hype.
  22. That is not correct unless with very old equipment. I have the original PDF on my Ipad which is an old model (3-4 years). It is very quick, no issues. Using Adobe Reader app.
  23. Those services lower the quality of images in the PDF by compressing them harder. That is how they make a smaller PDF file. Personally I don't see the need to lower the size with today's huge storage capacities and fast processors. But if you are happy with the PDF, I'm fine with that - I just reacted from my personal preference.
