  1. OpenQuest has its Major Mental Damage rules - that are a one stop roll vs Persistance (or POW x5 in BRP) that sees if a character is seized with Fear or worse.
  2. Happy Christmas and all the seasons best
  3. The Company is a self contained game, so the OpenQuest rules are included with it As for compatiblity with BRP I would say 'Broadly', its not an exact fit numbers wise here and there because I used the MRQ1 srd as a base. A run down of the features of OQ which should give you an idea can be found here http://d101games.co.uk/books/openquest/contents/
  4. This might interest you. Just finishing off the layout now
  5. I am very pleased to announce that the second adventure/setting for OpenQuest, Life and Death, has been released in both pdf and print. Get it in print from Lulu.com or pdf from Drivethrurpg.com Print £15 Pdf £8 More info about the book Life and Death web page
  6. Ok the 'official' state of River of Heaven is that its now in internal playtesting. John Ossoway, the Author of RoH, has the complete playtest rules written and is now running it through with his home group. We're a bit behind because of various real life knocks, but I'm pretty confident you see it by Summer 2010 at the very latest. So in short its not vapourware, but you'll have to wait a little bit longer.
  7. Yeah that's what I found with the Savage North that was originally a set of adventures set in the world of a certain raven haired Barbarian.
  8. All the good stuff that is happening with BRP, the Monographs, Cubicle 7, Alephtar Games, MRQ2, OpenQuest etc has hit the D&D Old School Renaissance blog sphere. Check this post out http://akraticwizardry.blogspot.com/2010/10/old-school-renaissance-at-least-with.html
  9. Oh I feel like such a proud Uncle! Nice to finally see this one enter the harsh light of public awareness On a first skim read it looks lovely. Without wanting to sound grumpy, I need to clarify the following: The actual clause in the OGL regarding other people's IP is you can't use any IP - that you do not have permission to use - in conjuction with the OGL, whether the project is fan based or for comercial release. As soon as you do you invalidate the OGL.
  10. Both, pdf and print via Lulu. Look out for the pre-order soon and you can get the print directly from me and a FREE Pdf
  11. Hi folks, Just a quick one to say that Life and Death, an adventure/setting for OpenQuest, is nearly done. ETA August. Read about it on the Life and Death webpage Here’s the cover by Jon Hodgson
  12. Thanks for the kind words guys Savage North is out for OpenQuest, and I'm working on the next adventure/setting book Life and Death, which I'm hoping will be available at Continuum. Talking of which, as well as copious numbers of games of OpenQuest (and The Company and River of Heaven) we'll be holding a OpenQuest panel, entitled "OpenQuest for the WIN!" on Saturday night at 9pm. As well as a general intro to the system and books in the line, there's going to be a few surprises unveiled
  13. Yes, there's a ton of free stuff over at cthulhurising.co.uk . Its easy enoguh to run it as hard sci-fi corperate space game without any of the Cthulhu Mythos, in fact one of the free campaign arcs Merchant Venturers is completely mythos free. Oh did I mention CR's author John Ossoway is writting the Hard Sci-fi setting "River of Heaven" for d101 and OpenQuest, coming early 2011.
  14. Hi I've just received the first draft of Rik Kershaw Moore's OpenQuest powered modern warfare game The Company. Here's the low down on the game's webpage http://d101games.co.uk/books/the-company/ I need a couple of dedicated groups of external playtesters, to really bring out the bits that need sorting out before release. Everything you need is in the document that I'll provide, the rules and two short adventures. You'll be required to feed back formally on the document, nothing too grievous a quick playtest questionnaire for your players and more detailed comments from yourself. The time scale is about 3-4 months since we are hoping to release in the Autumn. What I'm not looking for is; 1. Someone who wants to peer-review or proof the document. 2. Timewasters who just want to get hold of a free copy of the rules. Interested? email me at newt@d101games.co.uk
