Griffin Mountain (Runequest, 1981): US and UK editions

I recently edited a blog post from 2016 that I think would be of interest to readers here. I had both US and UK editions of Griffin Mountain in the shop at the time, so I took some side-by-side pics. They are mostly the same, but one edition is definitely better from a longevity standpoint.

One note, the GW map is printed slightly smaller than the Chaosium one. This means it doesn't match up with the Dagori Inkarth map in Trollpak (if you haven't tried, they join up).

Yes good point. I noted the measurements as 15½” x 23¼” (UK), vs. 20″ x 30″ (US), and - like the Game Workshop book - the GW maps is of a glossier paper stock.

Yep... my US edition (which I think I got for a Christmas present) is so well-used that it is pretty much a loose-leaf collection. I have the GW edition too. I suspect I bought this to replace my failing original copy. Even though it was nearly 40 years ago seeing your picture brings back the joy and wonder of reading that campaign.

Yep, my copy wears a three ring binder as a body and additional armour.

So you allow layering of AP? 🧐
