tal Posted June 7, 2014 Author Posted June 7, 2014 The print edition got removed? Looks like it. I wonder why? I got mine just the other day in the mail. Glancing through it I noticed the book was bigger than previous releases and also noticed some errata. Nothing earth shaking just things like referring to APP instead of CHA (p. 70), The corruption table had three entries (Obese, Metalic skin, and thick hide)that refer "to all locations" or on all locations, and one of the pregen characters in his equipment had a "great word" instead of a great sword. Again nothing earth shattering so I'm not sure why it's gone. So far I've liked the book. Quote 141/420
Newt Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Ok here's what's happening. I've made a fairly big mistake in that one of the maps has been printed twice. So I've halted sales for now. The map will be replaced with the correct one, and a few minor typos that have come to light will get fixed this weekend (so if you've spotted anything email me at newt@d101games.com). The pdf will be automatically updated, all you need do is redownload it from DriveThruRpg (if you ticked yes to getting updates from D101 Games you'll get an email notification when I've done it). If you bought a physical copy from DriveThru recently send me a copy of your receipt email and I will send you a replacement copy for FREE. If you are a backer of the IndieGoGo pre-order I will be resending the corrected book to you again at no extra charge. Sorry about this Quote Head Honcho of D101 GamesPublisher of Crypts and Things/Monkey/OpenQuest/River of HeavenThe Sorcerer Under the Mountain

Dunno if I am gonna get the new or the old one. Guess I will just have to wait and see. Haven't given it a proper read through yet but from skimming the PDF I like it a lot. EDIT: It was shipped 5 days ago! I assume then I am getting the old version. But will wait until it actually arrives to be sure. Edited June 9, 2014 by Chorpa Quote
Newt Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 Yes you'll get the old one, but to repeat if you send me a copy of your receipt I will send you a FREE replacement. The updated version will probably be sometime next week since I've hit a busy time at work/home. jux Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 It's ok - quality is more important. I find other things to read in airport. It is just a small visit to Amsterdam Quote

Chorpa Posted August 4, 2014 Posted August 4, 2014 Finally had a chance to read through the module. Have only read to Adventure 3 but so far I like it a lot. Have found some minor spelling errors and minor layout mistakes (like a missing room title) but nothing that bothers me and messes with the content. The content are just glorious, the adventures are as promised old school in a delightful way.The adventures are pretty straightforward but still with a lot of potential for the creative player group and GM to expand on. For example in Adventure 3: The Pig and the Cauldron i instantly was inspired and came up with small events and problems that Arnulf could cause for the group of players during their encounters. Still have adventure 4 to read through but I can't wait to dive into this module with a group of players. I never got the chance to get this module before this Directors's Cut so I can't comment on the differences but most of the changes are mentioned in the beginning of the book. On another side note this was my first OpenQuest adventure i have purchased and it also caused me to get my hands on OpenQuest just to see how some of the NPC stats works and was surprised how easy and well the rules are. I have experience with Legend and later on RuneQuest 6 and can see a lot of similarities from the MRQII/Legend SRD but with some simplifications and additions. I myself prefer a little more crunch so I will probably use this book with RQ6 but the changes are so minor so it is quite easy to run the adventures as is and convert on the fly. The only thing I will need to spend time converting is all the different cults that I want to incorporate into my own campaign world so I will later try to rebuild them in RQ. But in emergency you can just take the names of the cults and attach them to one of the appropriate generic cults in RQ as you see fit. But then you loose a lot of the flavor the cults in Savage World grants. Quote
Vorax Transtellaris Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I bought the original Savage North in print back in March 2010 when it had just become available. Would it be possible to get to see the upgraded/expanded parts without having to purchase the book again? Quote RPGbericht (Dutch)
Chorpa Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 From what I can understand it is a meta-plot chapter that has been dropped and they added of 2 appendixes that give some advice to GMs and Players. But from what I understand the adventures and everything else is as before except some minor fixes. So you should be ok. Quote
Hasseo66 Posted August 22, 2014 Posted August 22, 2014 I just read this one and its splendid! Highly recommended! Quote
