Hi All,

Just to let you know that a revised and expanded version of the Cthulhu Rising monograph is now available from Chaosium in PDF format:

PDF of the Cthulhu Rising monograph

It features new cover art and layout and is over 30 pages longer than last time, bringing the content up to date and in line with what is available on the website.

If you prefer a hard copy, I am told the print version should be available at the end of the month.

:)

Hard copy will be good! I've allready printed out all the downloads from your website. Will you bring any to Continuum? :P

SGL.

I'm hoping a handful of hard copies will be available at Continuum - watch this space (and my website) for more info.

Hey Ottomancer,

Congrats on an excellent monograph and website. You've put together a lot of great material.

Cheers,

I have been told Charlie should be bringing some copies for me to Continuum. Fingers crossed. Otherwise, the new version is on sale in print format at Chaosium: Cthulhu Rising in print format from Chaosium Inc.

I have just used Chaosium's current "Summer Souk" to download the Cthulhu

Rising monograph, and then I downloaded some material from the excellent

Cthulhu Rising website.

My setting's background universe is currently based upon the "Honorverse" of

David Weber's Honor Harrington novels, but in almost a year of playing in the

setting we have left the events of the novels far behind us.

In our universe the Solar League of the "Honorverse" has fallen apart in a war

against a Mesa Alliance and a following civil war, and I am now looking for a

new political entity to replace the ruined Solar League.

Much of the background of Cthulhu Rising would fit our setting's needs extre-

mely well, and I would very much like to adapt and use it - provided that the

author does agree with this, of course.

I am somewhat on the cautious side with this, because I had learned too la-

te that David Weber has a "zero tolerance policy" regarding any kind of fan

fiction and thelike, which led to websites being "cleaned" and similar things.

While our setting is entirely non-commercial, most of it can be downloaded

(free, of course) from our home forum's archive, which makes it somewhat

"public" and could cause a problem.

This is one of the reasons why I continue to replace "Honorverse" stuff with

other materials, and I would dislike to exchange one potential "minefield" for

another one.

So, Ottomancer, would you mind if I ... ? :)

"Mind like parachute, function only when open."

Oops! I go to Chaosium site to order the (dead tree) book and it seems it is unavailable now. Any idea why?

More than likely it's because the monograph is currently out of stock. Monographs are printed in very small print runs, and the product disappears from the catalog when out of stock.

Once they have more printed up, it'll show back up in the catalog.

An out of stock notice would be nice...

Yup - they had it in stock yesterday - looks like they've sold out during the sale maybe. I have it on good authority that Charlie is bringing some to Continuum. An out of print message would be nice, you're right.

Darn. Oh well, I guess it is a good thing that it sold out! I settled for the PDF instead.

Otto, I am quite impressed with your work. I didn't read it in depth yet but the stuff on your website is mind blowing.

I hope Chaosium will ask for more of your stuff!

I am actually working on a follow-up monograph to Cthulhu Rising. A campaign book called Jovian Nightmares. It's slow going though, as I've hit convention season...

Just have to say that I also purchased a copy of the PDF during the last Chaosium sale. Fantastic work... I really think that you are on to a winner of a game here (the last time I had this feeling for a CoC setting was Dark Ages!)

Looks like my old group (it seems that their new Keeper saw the same sale!) are going to, at the very least, run the adventures on Ottomancer's site. I get to listen in on these (they record the sessions for poor old Marcus stuck at the other end of the country) and so will report back on their progress!

Thanks for the kind words Marcus. It's always nice to get positive feedback. It makes it all worthwhile and knowing people enjoy Cthulhu Rising keeps me inspired to write for the setting. :thumb:

I am always looking to get adventure reports from groups over at the Cthulhu Rising forums, if you're interested..?

Already signed up :P

I've also decided to run 'Ground Zero' at the local Horror Con we have down this neck of the woods around Halloween every year... so I'll report back on that too!

Well ok, I'll be more precise in my question. The title seems to indicate a scenario around Jupiter. Am I correct? Anything else to say about it? ;)

It's going to be a campaign book detailing the Jovian colonies. As well as some short works of fiction, a timeline and background info for locations/organisations etc, it will hopefully feature at least one full-length adventure - Escape Velocity - which I am running at Continuum this coming weekend. There will also be some linked adventures which will appear as free downloads on the Cthulhu Rising website, at least one of which I will be running at conventions in the Autumn.

By the way, do you happen to have a political world map for CR?

A political world map of Earth 2271? I think I do somewhere. Want me to see if I can dig it out after Continuum?
