Jolt
Heroquest Glorantha mentions Yinkin quite a lot but I'm having trouble finding out much about how he was handled in the earlier editions of RQ. He's mentioned quite a few time in the "History of Heortling Mythology" but it makes no mention of any cults devoted to him (I have trouble believing there wouldn't be any). He's also completely absent from the Cult Compendium. Was he just ignored in earlier editions or is there some book or reference that I'm missing? Thanks! David Scott
The only RQ version of the cult I know is in Mongoose's Cults of Glorantha. It's author was @lawrence.whitaker, so even though it the book isn't considered canon, Loz is a respected author. You can easily adapt it to the version of RQ you are using. 3 Quote ----- Search the Glorantha Resource Site: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com. Khedrac
The fanzine Enclosure (issue 2, May 1998) has a cult writeup by Jeff Erwin. I also am sure I have a "Yinkin Ratcatcher" variant somewhere (just a few lines) for a city-based sub-cult.
Jeff
There is no canonical writeup for Yinkin in RQ. Yet.
David Scott
Thanks for the Enclosure reminder. I'd still go with Loz's version as the Enclose version is very detailed for what is effectively a minor cult. For HeroQuest Glorantha, It would be a spirit society with Beast and Movement charm related to Alynxes, such as; Follow that, Run fast, become Alynx, wait in the Dark, Hunt it, best spot beside the fire, etc. Taboos would include hate dogs, etc. The charms can hang off either the spirit, beast or movement rune. IMO i'd pare it down further from Beast and Movement as he's really a one rune cult and make him just Beast (sub Alynx/cat Rune) within this is all the Alynx magic needed. He's more like an Orlanth subcult in that regard so I'd be inclined to provide feats rather than charms.
Jolt
Thanks. I have all the Heroquest info for him I was just curious if there was anything from the original editions; I can extrapolate from HQ:G easily enough. According to the Heortling Mythology book Yinkin choose being a god over a spirit which angered a lot of spirits so I agree with jajagappa on that point.
Noita
Is the write up found in the Sartar book not correct anymore then?

And there is no one-to-one conversion between those systems.

Jeff
BTW, Yinkin and Odayla will both be in the core RQ4 rules.
