Mythic Origins of Harpies

I'm curious what the mythic origins of Harpies might be in various cultures across the Lozenge? 

Do they vaguely follow the Greek tradition, and thus are creatures of Storm who embraced Chaos? Perhaps a chaos distorted kin of Windchildren?

Or are they children of the Sky, who rejected the purity of the Sky for some other cause and fell to Chaos?

Per Anaxial's Roster, Oria made the first harpies to punish men who killed their mothers, and some still serve as her furies, but most have abandoned their duties and now plague all men.

Huh, an Earth origin, who would've known. I assumed they were some kind of Celestial temple-guardians or vengeance spirits. Got the latter part right, at least.

That is the Orian myth, but it needn't stifle others. Given their nature they may have multiple origins.

I always thought they came out of a thunderous Eurmali fart, used to punish wrongdoers. I am not sure why they would be Chaotic, though.
