  1. Yeah that is the problem. They have so much awesome stuff planned that POD things which won't sell as many since they are old and a percentage of the fanbase already owns it and have lower profitability since you don't get any economies of scale from printing multiple copies. At least I can console myself with their shiny new books...
  2. Im aware of and agree with the date policy. What I was hoping for was something along the lines of what they said about a 7th edition Beyond the Mountains of Madness or updated Horror on the Orient Express and say if we can expect any POD versions within the next year or longer.
  3. Bit of a long shot but can you remember what threads you saw the POD versions of Worlds of Wonder, Superworld and Magic World were in? I’m presuming the answer is no but thought I’d double check. I’m new to Chaosium (been playing CoC since 2019) and since then I’ve become fascinated by the history of the company and their lines. I’d like to collect as much stuff from them as possible without paying the eBay tax on out of print material. If someone from Chaosium could say what titles/lines they are still planning on making available through POD that would be great! Ideally with a time frame for that but I know that’s a big ask and probably not possible. Most things I’m content to wait on but I’m planning on working on my game over the summer when I have more free time so might end up grabbing the Big Gold Book to help out with that since it’s pretty unlikely that will be available POD when I will need it.
  4. I've been working on building an RPG on the SRD they released recently and the more work I do on it the more I want the big gold book to reference. I know it's available in PDF but I much prefer working from physical books and sadly I've only seen auctions go for £100+ in the UK. I did see a few years ago Rick mentioned switching to POD for existing BRP stuff but haven't seen anything yet, hopefully that is soonish or we at least get a yes/no in case I do need to bite the bullet and buy a second hand copy for silly money.
  5. That is great news for me. I only started playing CoC in 2019 and managed to miss all of the Achtung Cthulhu line, I've been patiently waiting for them to release the 7e PDFs physically for a while now. Unfortunately I'm in the same situation with Adventures in Middle Earth for D&D 5e, Free League say they plan to continue the line but I don't know if that involves reprinting older books that have shot up in price now.
  6. I did get a laugh out of the latest post confirming it is a woke mess but the posters name was SJW. Talk about your mixed messages...
  7. I got mine from Amazon. Presumably they would order any books as Amazon US and then send what was needed out to the various international ones. and in good news for me I just checked the artwork in it and it seems fine. According to this post the US printing of Dead Light originally had faded art. Looks like mine is a later version. Perhaps they fixed the typo on the spine at the same time.
  8. I just checked mine and it's correct. Mine is marked printed in the USA and I bought it last August in the UK if that helps.
  9. This is excellent! I was considering doing something similar for my dissertation (well final project for my degree that is the equivalent of a dissertation) but went for a different idea. I have bookmarked and will be using for any future mysteries.
  10. I think you wrote this specifically for me! I've never played Pendragon before but got sucked in through the recent blogposts Chaosium put out highlighting the upcoming 6th edition. Before seeing this my plan had been to grab the Paladin core rulebook and go through the included adventures (and maybe get the additional book for that) as I like physically having the books I'm running from. It would also be Charlemagne rather than Arthurian so I could come to 6th edition fresh. Does that make sense? I haven't bought the books yet so not too late for me to realise I'm being idiotic 🙂
  11. Chaosium have said previously they are planning on rebranding all HeorQuest books MOB said it in this post (near the bottom in the What's next section) and Rick confirmed they were rebranding books again in this topic. Technically it was on Kingdom of Heroes and Sartar Companion but should be applicable.
  12. I have to say I’m excited by a pulp scenario collection. I thought the scenarios included in the main book were some of the best I’ve read before. When I first started playing CoC I was disappointed there weren’t more big meaty campaigns like I was used to from D&D but I’ve come to appreciate them more and more as I’ve been running a game and they are now my favourite part of the line. Also wooooo for gaslight being relatively soon! I’m assuming the writing being over means it goes into art commissioning and then after that layout? I’m British and my investigators all want to try Victorian England out but I was waiting for the 7e book before jumping in. I’ve been spoilt with the production quality of the 7e line.
  13. It does sound like you are set on games! I have to say when I was previously assessing RuneQuest I took a quick glance saw sword and magic and then stopped looking as I’ve gone deep in on D&D 5e and I didn’t need another fantasy RPG. Can’t exactly remember when I took another look but I’m now completely sold on RuneQuest. I’m at a different stage of the hobby than you and am still looking at stuff to expand to from D&D and Cthulhu hence the jumping on RuneQuest. I’ve convinced a few of my friends to join me in a fortnightly starter set group where we just rotate through starter sets of different games and see what we like. Already got RuneQuest and Pendragon lined up for when they come out along with City of Midts, Tales from the Loop, Paranoia and Traveller. We’ve all been playing D&D for years at this point with the only long term use of a different system been my Cthulhu games which have gone down well. Looking forward to trying more systems!
  14. That’s a long and confusing way of saying ducks are awesome 😛
  15. Well it’s about to be a good time to get into Pendragon. 6th edition which is meant to be Greg’s definitive version (he was working on it from 2010 until his tragic death in 2018) is coming soon. Meant to be a starter set (along the lines as the Cthulhu one and the forthcoming RuneQuest one ) out later this year followed by the core books and an expanded Great Pendragon campaign following from that. I recently compiled a list of forthcoming books and what we can expect going forward. It’s well worth a read to see if anything interests you. Im fairly new to Chaosium, I started with the CoC keepers book and doors to darkness in late 2019 and I’m planning on starting a Masks campaign as soon my local RPG shop is opening its tables but in that short time I’ve been very impressed with the quality of what Chaosium puts out and I looked into RuneQuest more in depth than I had previously. I’m now planning on grabbing the whole current line once I’ve got all the Cthulhu books (5 to go then I have the whole 7e line). I have to say it was the ducks that really sold me on the setting. what was it that put you off RuneQuest?
  16. Thanks, I managed to find the person who wrote it and get their permission. It's all been updated now in the first post. All looks very exciting to me and we even get a hoped for release date, Q3 depending on shipping which is obviously very much up in the air right now for the Starter Set and a hope to have the PDFs of the core rules by the end of the year. I am now debating whether I should pick up the Paladin Core book and corresponding adventures to tide me over. Only thing keeping my buying finger from clicking is the possibility of a Paladin 2e using the updated rules from 6e. Does anyone know if that has been said anywhere? Or if they have future books in the series planned?
  17. I just joined! I'm presuming you are Sir Deacon on there? I've got the same username on discord. I grabbed the PDF from when you posted it 2 weeks ago and had a look through. All looks great and I'm even more excited now to play. I'm hesitant about updating the information from the PDF until I can track down whoever wrote it and get their permission to repost content from it, do you know who made the document? For anyone who wants to join the discord this link should work https://discord.gg/CfvJzeX Then to grab the PDF it was posted in the kap6 channel on the 23rd of April by Sir Deacon. Should be fairly obvious.
  18. Well said! Just to double check something you mentioned 3 volumes in the GPC do you remember where you saw that? I have seen various things say 3 or 4 volumes but not been able to drill down to a primary source. One even mentioned a single volume collecting all the material from the smaller books which is either going to be an absolute unit of a book or the individual volumes will be smaller than I expected. @sirlarkins could you clarify any details on the future plans for the GPC if at all possible? Also can you let me know if I've got anything flat out wrong in the first post? I wouldn't want to get people excited for a book I made up!
  19. I understand where you are coming from with that but if the quality of the additional material is like the Masks of Nyarlathotep for 7th edition then I'm happy to pay. Would definitely like to see more details on it however! I did just find a post by sirlarkin going into further details on what has been added if you were curious.
  20. Hi everyone! I can't be the only one who is beyond excited about the new version of Pendragon and I've been scouring the site for any information about what we can expect. I've only put products that I can directly confirm are from Chaosium at the moment. I've heard there's other stuff like an Ancient Greece based setting and a Japanese one but don't have a direct quote for these yet. If there is something I am missing (and I know there are a lot) please let me know along with a link to the source and I will add it in! I've also left it at just 6e stuff for Pendragon. I have to say I haven't played Pendragon previously but with how strong Chaosium's books have been (I came in through Call of Cthulhu) I am very excited by the new edition. If you think we should put 5th edition books or Paladin (not sure if that is getting a new version or not) or even Prince Valiant (which I can't find on the Chaosium store?) let me know!
  21. Inspired by the excellent threads in Glorantha and Call of Cthulhu forums I thought I'd get a start on one for Pendragon as I'm sure everyone else is as excited as me about the new edition! Bit bare bones at the moment but should be bursting with King Arthur goodness before we know it. Currently Available: Pendragon Quickstart Guide Future Products Starter Set (interview) - Mini campaign going over 6 years including the sword in the stone, the foundation of the round table and Arthur's marriage to Guinevere with the players able to participate and "leave your personal stamp" on these moments. Pendragon Core Rulebook (interview) GM Book (discord) Custom & Law Book (discord) Resource Pack (post) - Contains a GM screen, Book of Salisbury and other resources similar to RuneQuest/CoC screen kits Great Pendragon Campaign (post, interview) - Three volume set each covering two periods (Boy King and Conquest, Romance and Tournament, Grail Quest and Twilight). Early Eras Campaign (discord)- Three volume set covering King Vortigern, Uther, Anarchy Regions books (discord) - Setting books covering various regions with scenarios included Knights and Ladies Adventurous (post) - Sourcebook with scenarios Book of Castles (post) Codex Mirabilis (post) - rules for playing a magician Codex Sanctus (discord) - rules for playing a saint Book on Courtly Ladies and Knights (discord)- running lady/courtier campaigns The Ancient Greek RPG (post referencing this previous post) - Greek heroic age with you playing children of gods. The Feudal Japan RPG (post referencing this previous post) - working title is Monogatari Robin Hood RPG (post please note this one isn't currently being worked on but David and Chaosium are very enthusiastic about the idea so it is likely to happen) The interview links are timestamped to the bit in the video talking about the product in question. If you have non video sources for anything let me know and I will add these as well. So with thanks to @Call Me Deacon Blues I found the Pendragon Discord server which seems to be a great place to chat to likeminded Pendragon fans and some people from there had been a part of a "What's Up with Pendragon" chat and they graciously took notes ( @Owlhunter and discord user@Phantom Gardener) along with @ethawyn who took all the notes and made a 5 page PDF. Thank you to all for the notes and compiling it! I hope everyone else finds this as exciting as I do. Please note I have given a very very high level summary of what @ethawyn put in the PDF as I didn't want to just duplicate their work. I highly recommend you look at it yourself. There are 5 pages giving a much more detailed breakdown than I have of what we know is in the books. For anyone who wants to double check the veracity of the Discord sourced parts I can't directly link to the correct messages but by going to the kap6 channel on the server and scrolling up to the messages from the 28th of February 2021 you can see David Larkins posted the notes people took which is enough confirmation for me.
  22. I'd gladly buy the slipcase for that price. I grabbed the books separately from my FLGS then came across the slipcase on the website and have slightly regretted not getting that ever since.
  23. As Scotty said to me (direct quote) https://www.chaosium.com/blogcovid19-shipping-and-fulfilment-update-15-february-2021/ Newsletter subscription is on the bottom left of the page. There's also an RSS feed, if you do that sort of thing: https://www.chaosium.com/rss.php?action=newblogs&type=atom
  24. Thanks Rick, I really do appreciate having a UK based warehouse. As I said previously I do not blame you or anyone at Chaosium in the slightest for any delays, I think it's fairly clear where the fault lies there. I also do appreciate you bringing Beyond the Mountains of Madness and Horror on the Orient Express back into print. I only started running CoC in 2019 and have amassed a fairly sizable collection and it was always slightly annoying me that I had missed out on the Horror boxset and I'd be waiting at least 3 years for a Masks equivalent version but this has really filled the gap! I'm just glad it's all available and do not care in the slightest it is in B&W and with no new material. Also are you planning on adding Canis Mysterium to your POD line? I've wanted to get it for a while but all the physical copies I can find are £40+ (I know it's available in PDF but I prefer running from a physical book).
  25. I'm already on the newsletter and RSS feed but I had managed to miss that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. From that post I'm assuming that there will be stock at some point in the UK warehouse but it may be available after other countries due to Brexit? Which I am fine with (well I'm very very mad but at the UK government not you) and will happily wait until it's available.
