  1. The second link is good: islamic warfare Islam War, Warfare, Weapons, Armor, Castles teachers.sduhsd.k12.ca.us/joehler/.../islamic%20warfare_%20m.morita.ppt
  2. I voted for Renaissance Europe, because anything not dealing with pirates is overlooked to a large extent. It was a toss up between that and the ancient world. I think the medieval times, fantasy or otherwise, have gotten way too much attention--though it remains extremely fun to play in.
  3. I probably would've started sooner than I did ('81-'85), but for the fact that my mom was a Jesus Freak at the time, and rpgs were pure evil:rolleyes:
  4. And just so you know, even though I promote the Keep It Simple route, I really enjoy trying to find links to help you on your settings, as your settings are always very thought-provoking--and I always learn something when trying to help out.
  5. What pseudo-century does your setting take place in?
  6. Remember, all an adventure is is just a goal(s) with conflict and obstacles getting in the way of accomplishing that goal(s). The setting is just there to determine the types goals and the kinds of conflicts and obstacles the PCs will run into. As well as an aid to visualization.
  7. Don't use them. Unless the characters are monks or church officials, they probably have very little, if any, use for a calendar, anyway. Post links and information about the calendars and let those who want to use your setting determine the particulars, themselves.
  8. If you want music for a gothic horror game, you probably cannot do better than Midnight Syndicate Midnight Syndicate Welcome
  9. I understand that a lot of people think that, actually.
  10. It's probably people like you that created the mp3 player
  11. I'm toying with an idea of making an extreme metal fantasy campaign. When I mean extreme metal, I'm taking the standard American route of lumping death metal with black metal. I understand everywhere else in the world separates the two. Then I'm going to throw in pulp/retro tech into my setting such as this: Dr Grordbort's - It would be Metalocalypse meets the pulps. Actually, my campaign world idea is much more in-depth than that. But I don't want to get too much off the subject of this thread. Anyway, you can guess what kind of background music I'll be using. For a heavy metal sword and sorcery setting, you might want to look at Bal-Sagoth: The Official Bal-Sagoth Website

  13. And that barrel-chested Texas he-man committed suicide when he could no longer live with his mother.
  14. Just buy this: Mythic Game Master Emulator http://www.mythic.wordpr.com/wm002demo.pdf And let you and your players have their way--any way that's chosen.
  15. Omg! I know what universe I'm going to be playing in soon! Amazon.com: Doctor Grordbort Presents: Victory (9781595824639): Greg Broadmore: Books Amazon.com: Doctor Grordbort's Contrapulatronic Dingus Directory (Catalogue Edition) (9781593078768): Greg Broadmore: Books

  17. Yeah, I agree. Fur does get in the way of things. And tentacles do have their special kind of fun.
  18. Maybe you can find out by asking him at the next furry convention.
  19. Unless I'm very mistaken, it's pretty much the only real space opera game BRP has. And who says you have to play as a furry? And if it continues to be an issue, try EFT: EFT Home - World Center for EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)
  20. A D100 game with an interesting setting: Eclipse Phase - Catalyst Game Labs | RPGNow.com
  21. If you are looking for some Swashbuckling, I would also like to add that Flashing Blades has a lot of information on the same time period mentioned above: RPGNow.com - The leading source for indie RPGs And there's no magic. And the system is fairly easy to convert to BRP, since BRP is the underlying mechanic, if you look at the system closely enough.
  22. Nope. I am NOT the guy who wrote it. Nor did I have anything, whatsoever, to do with its creation. I'm just a fan. And I do stand behind my endorsement. I hope it works as well for you as it has for me.:thumb: If you want more info., just sign up to the Mythic Yahoo fan club and ask away: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/Mythic_Role_Playing/ I'm also sorry for the thread-jacking. However, the SoloQuest adventure does sound like a good source for a campaign. I think I might buy it soon, as well.
  23. Absolutely. I am immensely pleased with it, and so are my friends! Personally, I consider it the single greatest thing to happen to rpgs after the creation of rpgs. And while I think it's awesome that people on this forum write up really cool scenarios, you can create the same thing with Mythic on the fly. I wish more people would give it a try. Though I realize it's a very different way of playing an rpg than just about anyone is used to.
  24. With Mythic, you can create a campaign out of anything, even if the idea is only two sentences long. It should work perfectly with SoloQuest if you want to make a campaign out of the SoloQuest adventure. And Mythic alone can create the illusion of a talented GM, as my friends and I found out! However, it will feel weird to anyone who's very used to having a GM run their games.
