  1. It could also be a blessed weapon allowing the PC to gain in skill, somatically.
  2. The Vulcans have a genetics based technology. They choose to appear human for interacting with humans, but it's due to genetic manipulation. Their planet is thoroughly overrun with their mutant creations and many want to move to earth, and they don't mind sending some of the mutations to earth every once in awhile when the British empire and/or the Vatican get a little overbearing in their imperialism. Plus, there could be factions that are Nazi-ish considering that the genetic manipulation was initially to make them a superior species.
  3. Too bad nobody had the Mythic GM Emulator on hand http://www.mythic.wordpr.com/wm002demo.pdf , Mythic Game Master Emulator Then it would not have matter much if the adventure got derailed :thumb:
  4. Hey Rust, this rpg is supposed to be released soon, and may have some stuff you can adapt into BRP, as it seems to be along the lines of what you're working on: KNRPG Productions
  5. Is it working for you? Btw, does Dark Heresy have critical hit charts? The original Warhammer used them. I remember the critical hit charts to be very graphic--great for survival horror games (yes, I'm obsessed with survival horror>:-> )
  6. You can create your own creatures. Here's the instructions how: You can create your own entities that can be added to the Entities list, or be added to encounter files, or be used as the basis for character sheets created from entity definitions. To create an entity: Create a macro data sheet. Double-click the Entities folder. Double-click the desired folder: Creatures for Cthulhu Mythos creatures, Deities for Mythos deities, Humans for general human opponents (henchmen, guards, etc.), Personalities for unique characters, or Beasts and Monsters for common animals or monsters like zombies. Press INSERT. Enter "entity" for the macro name. Press TAB to move to the name field. Enter the name of the entity. If the entity causes SAN loss, enter the values in the sanLoss field. Enter the type of entity (Lesser Servitor Race, Beast, Monster, Human, Great Old One, etc.) in the type field. Enter values for STR, CON, SIZ, etc. If this describes a specific entity, enter the value for each characteristic. If its a description of a type of entity, enter the die specification -- 3D6+6, 2D6+12, 1D10x10, etc. If the value is a complex expression, enter a textual description followed by a colon, followed by the expression. For example, if a creature has SIZ equal to the POW generated randomly, enter: Equal to POW:@POW See Cthulhu.mds for more examples. If the entity has SAN based on POW, leave the SAN field empty to get the default value. If the entity has zero SAN enter "zero" or "none". If a characteristic has no value, leave it blank. Blank values for humans will be filled in automatically with appropriate die rolls. Enter the entity's move value. If multiple modes of movement are possible, separate each with a slash ("/"). If the monster has a fixed damage bonus, enter the value in the db field in the form "+5D6". If the damage bonus should be computed based on STR and SIZ, leave the db field empty. If the entity has armor, enter it is the armor field. If the armor has a number of points, that number must be first in the field. For example, "8 points of thick hide". List the entity's skills in the skills field. Each entry should be in the form "Hide=60". You can also specify a random skill level with a die specification: "Credit Rating=20+2D10". Finally, any valid expression containing no die specification can be specified: "Listen=50+rand(50)". Enter a description of the spells the entity has in the spells field. This description should be very brief ("1D4 spells if POW 14+"). If specific spells are known enumerate them. If the entity has specific possessions, list them in the poss field. Adding Weapons To indicate the weapons or attacks for the entity: While the entity is highlighted press INSERT. Enter entweapon for the macro. Enter the name of the weapon or attack in the name field. If you intend the weapon to be the same as existing weapon, use the identical spelling. When the weapon is added to a character generated from an entity, the actual weapon will be used. If the weapon does not exist in the available Equipment list, the weapon will be created based on a generic attack item. Enter the skill chance for the attack in the chance field. There should be no spaces or % in this field. Enter the damage in the damage field. If "+db" occurs in the damage field, the damage bonus will be computed and displayed. If you're entering a number of weapons/attacks, press SHIFT+ENTER to go right into adding another entweapon macro. If you're done adding weapons for this entity, just press ENTER. Everything that's said it can do on the webpage: Alter Ego Software is what it can do. Everything you need to know is in the Help file. There's a demo near the bottom of this page that you can download. Btw, I have lots of issues from either Drivethrurpg and Rpgnow when I order things, too. I bought my cd version right from Alter Ego Software.
  7. I have Metacreator, and I say "go ahead" with your purchase. It's great for creating countless monsters and quickly making characters. I made up a sheet of zombies for a survival horror game--20 of them randomly created. I just role a D20 for which zombie I want. It's perfect for making minions and extra characters on the spot. Compatibility isn't an issue, as It's BRP! It's just CoC BRP. Character creation is basically the same as in any genre of BRP. I think you can even create your own creatures. It also a dice roller.
  8. As far as new products coming out, I just got this email from Chaosium: A Gaggle of Licensees! The past week has seen an influx of numerous licensee releases, both near and far. From Keith Herber and Kevin Ross, the guys at Miskatonic River Press, we just received their first book NEW TALES OF THE MISKATONIC VALLEY, a collection of six Lovecraft Country adventures. Toward the end of last year Editions Sans-Détour, our new French publisher, came online and Call of Cthulhu is once again available in that language. Sometime ago we offered their core CALL OF CTHULHU rulesbook. Now we have the French-language KEEPER'S SCREEN and first supplement SECRETS OF NEW YORK. Our good buddies at Q-Workshop surprised us with some new sanity-stealing CALL OF CTHULHU DICE. We received physical copies of our recent monograph additions: MYSTERIES OF SUDAN by Jason Williams and MYSTIC ALLIANCES by Kamal Lombardi. Finally, long-time licensee Pagan Publishing has released their long-awaited Call of Cthulhu supplement MYSTERIES OF MESOAMERICA. This is a large campaign delving into the secrets of central America. Thanks for your support! The strange Chaosium crew: Charlie, Lynn, Dustin, Fergie, William, Meghan, Nick, and Bill.
  9. Touche:thumb: But what I was getting at is: don't just boycott the company because of something that's between other people. And just don't buy anything unless you actually have an interest in it. Chaosium is only hurting themselves by not releasing products and paying their writers. But that doesn't mean anyone shouldn't enjoy what they've already got. But that's a personal decision.
  10. It seems like issues brought up on this thread boils down to: go talk to a lawyer. I hope BRP, and even Chaosium is going to be around for a long time. But you're not going to get your payment issues fixed, and Chaosium will keep taking their sweet time until you show some initiative. I'm with Soltakss on this one. Besides, if no one's going to buy Chaosium products, then no one will get paid.
  11. All I know is that I'm going to buy the BRP pdf pretty soon, just in case Chaosium ever goes down, and something happens to my BRP hardcopy. It sucks that a company that's been around so long is being so stupid with the people who want to support it. But at the same time, there's a ton of material out there that can be adapted for BRP. When I have time, I think I will adapt Flashing Blades combat to BRP and then I'll be able to have the Interplanetary game I've been waiting for. I already have the CoC Metacreator, which allows me to make up as many zombies, aliens, or whatever I want to have. So, if Chaosium does go down, it won't be that major of a loss. And if people choose to make things for Gore, then that's fine, too, as the systems are quite compatible. However, does anyone have money (or be willing to get a loan for it) to buy a struggling company and the skills to run it right? It would be cool if people from this forum could take the company over if Chaosium must sell out or close its doors.
  12. All that you said did cross my mind. But people seem to gravitate towards "name brands". Hence all the licensing.
  13. It makes me wonder how much cool public domain stuff is out there that has yet to be mined. Or how many authors from other countries would love to sell their intellectual property for a wider audience.
  14. It certainly looks like you've got housing and living conditions covered! And those modules look way more swank than an earthbag dwelling :thumb: Those maps of yours are good, too. They just need to be a bit bigger.
  15. Hey Rust, for the buildings on your planet, have you looked into Earthbag building? It's main proponent Nader Khalili - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia even suggested using it on the moon. And the idea is considered plausible! Earthbag construction - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Earthbag Building Index from this site: http://www.earthbagbuilding.com/pdf/dome.pdf and http://www.earthbagbuilding.com/pdf/UN%20earthbag%20shelters.pdf and http://www.calearth.org/Emerg_files/KhaliliEmergShltr.pdf And once the colonists are more established, and the planet more terraformed, they can build these dwellings: http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0442273118/ref=sib_dp_ptu#reader-link
  16. Maybe there should be a thread for brainstorming settings and such. Maybe we can make a really unique setting. I'm for Sci-fi, myself. Wait a minute, there was a thread like that, wasn't there? Maybe we have to come up with a specific setting and people add to it, like maybe build off the Cthulhu Rising universe or something.
  17. I'm not really sure of the smoke volume, myself. I was thinking more along the lines of it filling up a room. The bigger the cube, the bigger the room it fills. If the party encounters it in a tunnel, then they have to get out of the tunnel fast and wait until the smoke clears. Maybe the smoke can congeal again into an acid that drips from the walls and ceilings>:->
  18. I was thinking about Delta Green last night, after I wrote what I wrote above. It's just a shame that there's no other setting outside of CoC for independent writers to latch onto.
  19. Thank you for the stats on one of the more interesting D&D creatures:thumb: However, weren't the gelatinous cubes also susceptible to fire? Maybe setting one aflame would produce noxious gases that could fill a dungeon pretty quickly?
  20. So, how's this project coming along?
  21. Any new word on this product?
  22. A thousand rotting heads, eh? Can we get a little background on that >:->
  23. genetically engineered plant-life, then?
  24. The look like Confederate soldiers. 'Fighting for the right to own slaves in a galaxy far, far away'.
