  1. Ah right, I don't own The Smoking Ruins - though it's next on my geek list to buy.
  2. Thumbless morokanth as a counting unit base, i can't see it catching on.
  3. Yeah, but it's sort of relevant thread drift isn't it ? it involves sharks...which swim...and the thread is about swimming , so it's ok
  4. Could you kindly list a couple of relevant sources for me so I can nip off and do a bit of reading ? 👍
  5. Smoking ruins or smoking runes ?. I don't own the former ( though I will by the end of next month ) and I've not heard of the latter ?
  6. I was looking at the Gloranthan bestiary and it mentions that centaurs worship Arachne Solara in her role of nature deity. I was curious what form this worship took and what the benefits were to Centaurs. Arachne Solara isn't even mentioned in the RQG rulebook and there's no short form cult. now we may well get something in the upcoming cults book but previous gloranthan publications have always treated Arachne Solara as a rather unknowable, enigmatic sort of deity. Which led me to wonder what practical form does the centaur worship take and what practical benefits do they get from it in terms of spirit magic, rune magic and so on ?
  7. Out of curiosity I looked at a couple of other d100 based games. Openquest doesn't list boar at all . Legend does mention them and gives them AP 2 which would make more sense to me with the tuskers then having the thicker armour.
  8. I don't swim willingly in real life 😁 I can...bit it's not something I enjoy doing.
  9. Gems sewn into their heads via evil chaotic priests that allow them to glare fire from the artificial third eye ?
  10. MOV 1 works for me.I'm just surprised that we have a swim skill which has some rules around swimming...and nobody anywhere has said how fast ( or not ! ) a person can swim. As to why MOV 1 works for me here goes. I did find something in the old RQ3 rulebook which said that a person MOVes 3m per strike rank and there were 10 SR per melee round, so 30m per melee round. Under the RQ3 rules a person can swim 1m per 2 SR, so 5m per melee round. This gives us a 6:1 ratio. RQG MOV is 8 divide by 6 gives us 1.3 following the standard round up/round down rules that gives us a MOV of 1. Der dum der dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dud a DA 😄
  11. Yeah, but I'm talking about the Tuskers - the actual giant boar, not the tusk riders.
  12. True, but if they're in proportion to their size then you'd think the Tuskers skin/armour would be thicker....
  13. I was a little surprised to find this when leafing through the bestiary. Given Tuskers are described as being the size of Bison ( which your average Boar is not ) I was a bit taken back to find they have the same armour - 4 pts. So is a Boar just very well armoured for it's size....or is the Tusker just poorly armoured for it's size ?
  14. I've looked back and forth in the rulebook but have evidently failed my Spot the obvious skill roll. What is the base movement rate for humans when they are swimming ? it's not our normal mode of transport so I assume it's lower than the standard movement rate ?
  15. if you want to make it really hard, have some morokanth players trying to build a herdmen business in mostly human surroundings " Take your stinking hooves off me, you damn dirty tapir ! "
  16. I ran the hellpits in the Zola Fel valley...just on the edges of civilisation and vulture country.
  17. Sorry, I meant free artpacks such as Chaosiums Miskatonic Art packs for CoC. The way the guidelines read I thought they'd done something similiar for RQ. It does appear Martins are gone. but I shall take a closer look at Dario's 👍
  18. Out of curiousity I was looking at the JC guidelines in the vague hope that one day i might have something useful to say for the JC. I noticed it mentioned a Art pack, but when I clicked on the link it took me to the Argan Argar Atlas map pack. is there an actual art pack for the JC and I'm just being thick and have missed it ?
  19. Argh no ! 😄 The reason I asked was I found all my old RQ3 notes about harpies that I'd made, spells etc etc. And was updating them to RQG. I'd gone with the Ancestral Magra as the base for it all. Now I'll have to think of something else. Mind you YGMV and all that, so I suppose can still run with it in my games.
  20. It could be so, certainly as good an explanation as any other
  21. You can pick up Vikings of legend at both the Mongoose site and via DTRPG if you're so minded
  22. I can't help but feel that you've entirely missed my point.....
  23. Mmmmm....mind you even scholarly artifice can contain the truth 😁
  24. True enough, plenty of room for expansion and invention. I was simply pointing out that there is ( imo ) a Gloranthan perspective - albeit a rather short and not particularly informative one 😄
