  1. Following on from the Dragon skin thread, I was left wondering whereabouts in Glorantha could you get Crispy Duck in pancake rolls. originally I figured the decadent Lunar empire. But then I thought maybe some of the more violent orlanthi might eat a meal as a gesture of contempt..... There's a scenario in there somewhere.
  2. General Ork, In terms of immediately gaining access to more RQG monsters I think the Jonstown Compendium over at Drive Thru RPG is probably your best answer. There's a couple of small bestiaries there, and Indeed there was series of products called Monster Of The Month that ran for a couple of years. I think both years are available as bundles.Obvously some will suit your tastes better than others but they all have merit.
  3. Given the usual use of tentacles in Japanese popular culture do we really want to know ...? 😃
  4. Worth pointing out that there is considerable overlap between the RQG bestiary and the Gateway Bestiary.
  5. Seems reasonable enough....Mythras does have a Mythic Babylon supplement. You might want to check out the Jackals RPG which has a bronze age feel to it. There's plenty of bronze age( ish ) stuff on DTRPG - though it is for other systems and would need conversion.
  6. i do get what you're saying here, i also think RQ could be adapted for other settings - even real earth settings. RQ3 had a very well respected Vikings supplement ( if you ever get the chance to buy a copy, do so ) The problem for Chaosium is that Gloranthan Runequest is the focus of their endeavers at the moment and realistivcally that's likely to remain the case. there's a huge amount of material in the pipeline but due to the Gods of Glorantha logjam i imagine they're not where they would like to be in terms of product schedules. Now, could RQ be used by a licensee to produce other settings ? i'd say yes looking at RQG some aspects could easily be adapted. Imagine an ancient Greek Setting , lots of the monsters in RQ are derived from Greek mythology and as you say there's plenty more that could be written up. The Runes wouldn't translate across well, but the Passions would eg: Loyalty ( Athens ) , Worship ( Zeus ) Hate ( shouty spartan king ). Magic could port over spirit magic and Divine magic ( magic ) maybe even sorcery rooted in greek philosophy or some such justification 🙂 But....there's another kid on the block that does that - Mythras which is derived from the same RQ/d100 engine and has a lot of supplements already out - including fantasy earth. i think they have a fantasy Greece in the works. the Legend rpg from Mongoose also has it roots in the same ruleset, though not much has happened there in a long while. So......Chaosium could could try and break new ground, but they'd be competing with other companies. On the other hand they and they alone have Glorantha so it make sense to focus there. But after the initial flurry of production , the release schedule does seem to be glacially slow.
  7. Now, if they DID release another bestiary of some sort i would buy it. Is there any particular area of monsters you feel that are poorly served ? For example, do you think the Dinosaur section is good....but the chaos creatures section is a bit thin ? Maybe you like the troll section but think the spirits are wafer thin ? If you were in charge and could wave a magic wand and have anything you like what would you really want to see in another bestiary ?
  8. Off topic I know, but i was always surprised nothing concrete had been written up for adventuring in the Footprint and Stone Wood. Now looking forward to this immensly.👍
  9. Golarion ? even allowing for autocorrect that's a long way from Glorantha 😃
  10. I guess there's several responses to that...firstly as Jajagappa has observed there are in fact many more monsters out there than just the bestiary. Next it's worth pointing out that the focus of RQG so far has been central Genertela - Dragon Pass and Prax. As other parts of Glorantha are explored I'd imagine we'll see other creatures being available,In the RQ3 bestiary there were several Pamaltelan creatures, it's quite possible they may re appear. The Jonstown Compendium has a variety of products with extra monsters ranging from spirits to creatures, there's a couple of little bestiaries and products like Secrets of Dorastor are full of gruesome goodness.
  11. By a strange coincidence I was talking to Soltakss about Giant Pike only a few days ago. following my questions about the leaping lakes region I've started writing up 2 spirit cults set in the area. one of them called Brother Pike. I'd decided for reasons best known to myself that Leaping lake and the lakes in the Redwood would have Giant Pike in them..... That's spooky 😆 another real world fish that might be interesting is the Alligator Gar. is the Zola Fel tidal at all in Pavis ?. Pike are fresh water fish, Gar can be found in brackish water so might fit better..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alligator_gar
  12. Maybe, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time with the information available that may have seemed the best route forward.
  13. So, a little while back I asked about some writing I couldn't make out in the Guide To Glorantha. Scotty leapt in to action and not only provided a good map, but directed me to some snippets of info in Trollpak ( top man ! ) Which has made me a bit curious about the whole region. As we can see from the map to the west we have Dagori Inkarth, Shadows Dance and so on - massive troll strongholds and areas of influence. To the east and actually on the eastern banks of leaping Place lake we have Redwood Forest - which although much reduced is still pretty big. it contains green elves and 2 sites of sacred significance to the elves: Stump and Torch. Given the usual state of relationships between elves and trolls is the middle ground between the two regions a region of hostility and warfare, are there raids and skirmishes. or is it a case of uneasy peace and trading ? is there a sort of no mans land ( no man rune land even ) between the two ? Leaping place lake lays in this sort of border area, though seems to be closer to the Redwood Forest. We know both trolls and elves can and do sail and have ships. Would they have ships on the lake, even if only fishing vessels. Are there humans living here, and if so what cultural groups do they belong to. As you may of worked out I'm kind of intrigued now.
  14. what's that you say young man ? getting old ? pass me my hearing trumpet...i can't quite make out what you're saying 😁
  15. Could it be some sort of cultic gift - same approach to Humakti gifts ? I've often felt there's a sort of correspondance between the Humakti gift/geas thing and shamanic powers/taboos ( in approach if nothing else ) Could that work for your spirit cult ?
  16. I didn't own Trollpak, but curiousity means I've splashed the cash to get a copy - i was going to buy it sooner or later anyway, I guess it was sooner 😃
  17. A few days ago I asked about some writing on the map in the GTG - turned out it said Leaping Place lake. i can see there's a little group of lakes there......are any of the rest named to anybodies knowledge ? And what ( if anything ) do we know about them ?
  18. We have one boosting spirit magic spell for bladed weapons - bladesharp One for impact weapons - Bludgeon. But only one reduction spell dullblade which affects both bladed and impact weapons. Surely for the sake of cosmic symmetry and to avoid winding me up we should have dullblade AND dullclub 😁
  19. Just to let you know as it was payday yesrday, I've spent my geek money on the bundle - thanks for bringing it to my attention 👍
