  1. We thought we had sold out of HORROR ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, but recent stocktaking at our UK and USA warehouses has uncovered some additional copies! We have a very limited number of these boxed sets available, and once sold, they are sold. These will go on sale on our website on Monday April 23rd at 10AM US Central Time. This is the final chance to get the boxed edition from Chaosium.com. After that, the train goes back in the shed. HotOE will eventually be back in a new edition—most likely in a slipcase rather than a box—sometime in the next several years (no firm date yet). https://www.chaosium.com/horror-on-the-orient-express/
  2. Our first Reiner Knizia game KHAN OF KHANS will be out in Japanese translation on May 1st! And our second Reiner Knizia game MISKATONIC UNIVERSITY is live on Kickstarter now. We don't know whether we should be saying "Wa-ha!", or "Iä Iä!"

    Hazia?

The intent is yes to all of the above. Hazia can ingested in a variety of ways. If you take enough, under the right circumstances the effects are the same as the Discorporate spell.
  4. Less than $200 to our $50K "Diploma Mill II" stretch goal! Then we start handing out Miskatonic University Masters Degrees. All backers of the base game ($25) and above get one. OK, so we might be running a diploma mill, but how's that for cheap tuition?
  5. Having been involved in the art direction for the silhouettes in 13G, I'm really happy with the way they turned out and how they are presented in the book: wonderful work by Kalin Kadiev and Mara Braun, and layout guy Chris Huth:
  6. A new stretch goal announced: $55K - Rules in Italian MU announces new academic department in the School of Languages - the Accademia di lingua italiana. The printed rulebook will include the full rules of the game in Italian. New Pledge Level (at $55K): Associate Dean - Accademia di lingua italiana (1 backer only) MU is also recruiting a scholar to lead this new division: the Associate Dean - Accademia di lingua italiana.
  7. Two more stretch goals reached: $40K FUNDED! - Stationery Upgrade: cards now 320 gsm with linen finish $45K FUNDED! - Rulebook will now include French Now on to... $50K - DIPLOMA MILL II: we start handing out Masters degrees!
  8. We reached the "Diploma Mill" Stretch Goal in our Miskatonic University board game kickstarter, so now *every backer* gets a Bachelors Degree in Medieval Metaphysics. Even the "Student" level backers at $1 - we are running a diploma mill after all... n.b. the degree certificates are non-personalised, so you can add your own name in. Impress your friends with your academic attainment!
  9. Our MU board game now heading towards its third stretch goal. In our first Stretch Goal, "Diploma Mill" everyone who backs gets granted a Bachelors degree in Medieval Metaphysics (even the $1 backers - we're running a diploma mill here, after all). And in our second, the printed game will now include the rules in German. $30K (funded!)—Diploma Mill: We will award all backers with a Bachelor of Arts in Medieval Metaphysics degree from Miskatonic University. $35K (funded!)—Rules in German: The printed rulebook will include the full rules of the game in German. $40K—Stationery Upgrade: we will upgrade the specifications of the game cards. $45K—Rules in French: The printed rulebook will include the full rules of the game in French. $50K—Diploma Mill II: Masters degrees for all backers at $25 and above! We've got more exciting (and fun!) stretch goals to strive for - please help spread the word!
  10. What's been keeping Jeff busy after the RQG rules themselves headed over into layout? Find out here... https://www.chaosium.com/blogwhats-happening-with-rqg-2-the-gods-of-glorantha
  11. The groundbreaking and revolutionary early history of our company, as recounted by Geek and Sundry's Benjamin Riggs, a wonderful read! (Also tells the strange-but-true story of how our illustrious founder Greg Stafford came to own the first-sold copy of Dungeons & Dragons, literally straight off Gary Gygax's printer!) https://geekandsundry.com/tarot-cards-told-him-to-start-a-game-company-the-dawn-of-chaosium/
  12. Games Vs Play interviews Susan, our board games line editor, to get some early insights about our new game, her experiences working with design legends Reiner Knizia and Greg Stafford, and what's in store in the MU Kickstarter... http://gamesvsplay.com/sneak-preview-of-miskatonic-university-the-restricted-collection-chaosiums-new-lovecraftian-boardgame

And now to the first Stretch Goal at $30K: "Diploma Mill" As my friend and colleague Jeff Richard says, from here on it is all gravy. Eldritch, tentacle-ridden gravy that drives you insane with forbidden lore😜

  16. Our family game KHAN OF KHANS is coming out in Japanese in May, thanks to our good friends Arclight - Wa-ha!
  17. Hollywood TV writer and producer Robert Hewitt Wolfe (Elementary, StarTrek, DS9 etc) is a RuneQuest and Glorantha fan from way back, and even snuck references into the scripts he worked on). But, playing boardgames last night he had a Gloranthan reason to call out K-H-H-A-A-A-N-N-N-N!!!!!
  18. Here's another great visual representation from the new RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha, showing strike ranks and reach of a weapon. As we all know, RQ combat is relatively quick and simple, but deliciously realistic and immersive. And always potentially deadly. More about the progress of the layout is in Jeff's recent update.
  19. Here is a scientific explantation from a Gloranthan perspective. Beyond the Sky Dome is a Shining World. Of the Shining World's great Light, but a small Fraction descends to us along the paths pioneered by mighty Yelm and his lesser descendants and followers. The Will of these divine Beings is to send light to the mortal world, hence the light descends, against its Nature. However, it always yearns to return unto its true Home. As is well known Light, like Fire, is a manifestation of Aether and thus properly belongs in the Sky World. The elements always seeks their own proper level in the bubble that is Glorantha, thus light tends to curve upward slightly as it flits along at a great pace (note-1). Light clearly "bends", tending towards its heavenly home. Rays of Light are akin to arrows or javelins (the Sky's weapons). The paradox that the path of an arrow or javelin plainly curves downwards is simply explained: it is because the arrow is of a gross material substance and not made of celestial light (note-2). However, an arrow enhanced by Speedart tends more nearly to the horizontal -- that is, adopting a flat path as it is charged with more Light energies. This is why you see the top of a mast as a ship approaches, then the sails, then the body. At this stage the light from the mast barely skims the waters, making the top visible, but the path that light from the sails would have to take intersects the ocean's surface and is absorbed by the hungry waters. This is the explanation for the 'horizon' of seafarers and for why the tops of objects are seen first as a distant object approaches. Note also that an observer higher up may see farther, thus we have lookouts atop the masts of ships and observation towers (this phenomenon is seen on land as well but is less obvious). Even El-metal (gold), Yelm's metal itself indeed falls down with great Force, but in the oldest records this is not so. In Godtime, before the Darkness, it was the Lightest of Metals and would even Leap and Dance about, from the Yearning of the Fire Within to return to the Sky World. Only after the Sunslaying (familiar to all who love the Lightbringer Saga) did Gold become heavy and lifeless, seeking to join the Celestial Emperor in the Underworld. Thus through the actions of Great Orlanth did Gold become the heaviest of Metals.

  24. It seems to be a Safari thing. Works fine on Chrome. Normally, when posting images, I insert from an URL rather than upload, because BRP Central has a finite amount of storage space for images and I don't want to hassle Sverre about getting more. But in this case, here is the cover, uploaded:
