  1. There isn't meant to be a skill roll attached to it. If you use Evade to throw yourself out of the way of a missile or incoming weapon strike, you ordinarily end-up prone. The whole idea of the Daredevil trait is to simulate those nimble swashbucklers who can throw themselves out of harm's way, execute a nimble forward roll, and come-up swaggering and posing with a heroic profile. Attaching a skill roll to the Daredevil trait would negate its intention. Of course, if you don't want such cinematic heroics, then you don't have to allow the trait to be attached to a combat style at all. In a normal combat situation, where an Evade roll would normally leave you prone, you can spend an Action Point to regain your footing. The Acrobatics skill can also be used as a substitute for Evade and, in those situations where you'd be prone, Acrobatics lets you automatically regain your footing.
  2. Personally, I don't, but some people do. If a fight drags-on, or involves a lot of running around in very strenuous conditions, then I might call for Fatigue checks at the end.
  3. I've recently played (and enjoyed) Barbarians of Lemuria (terrifically simple, wonderfully Conanesque) The One Ring (very good) Agon (also very good) D&D5 (Enjoyable: a nice balance between Basic/Expert and 3e) Trail of Cthulhu (Wasn't convinced that the Gumshoe system was much more than a very simple dice pool mechanic - and certainly no better than CoC when it came to developing and running investigations). I love trying new systems. Of the recent games I've played, Barbarians of Lemuria is the one I'll play again in a heartbeat. Thoroughly enjoy playing it.
  4. How do you make this interpretation? Tire doesn't mention combat either. That said, Vigour does exactly as it says, irrespective of how the Fatigue was gained. But it's not a permanent effect: once the spell ends, the Fatigue comes back.
  5. If a thread is concerned with RQ in some way, and references are made to the system, questions posed, variants suggested, etc etc. I have no problem with it being in the RQ section. Indeed, I welcome it. But in the absence of a system-agnostic, general d100, discussion area, there have been a few posts that have found their way into RQ because it just seemed handy to do so. That's fair enough for a little while and I haven't been overly concerned about it. But today there were two more, and the danger is that RQ section becomes a de facto general d100 discussion area while the BRP, Legend, MW, OQ and Renaissance areas remain product specific. I don't see that as being especially fair. I'm not trying be all 'Get Off My Lawn', but at the same time if BRP Central is going to support compartmentalized areas for system-specific discussions, I don't see why I shouldn't politely ask for such discussions to be confined to RQ. I would not, for instance, go onto the MW or OQ boards and start discussing RQ or even generic topics there: I don't feel it considerate to the mods of those boards or the creators of those systems. There clearly needs to be a general d100 rules discussion area. The d100 family has grown to the point where there are some common concepts that rise above and beyond the branded systems. If the site is going to support the different brands with their own areas, then it's not unreasonable to want to restrict conversations to their relevant systems. It's irrelevant whether or not publishers have their own house boards. BRP Central has become a first port of call for d100 discussions. It should be able to support discussions of both specific and general natures, limiting the amount of dilution that will occur if some form of regulation isn't maintained.
  6. That's not the point, Simon. One could equally place generic d100 threads in the main BRP forum or Alastor. I completely agree that a generic d100 rules thread is relevant and needed. But I don't want the RQ thread becoming the default warehouse for such discussions while we wait for a permanent home to be found. As the moderator for this particular area of the forum, it's not unreasonable of me to ask for the discussions to be held in a different part of the board.
  7. Thanks Darkholme. There's no reason why discussions like this can't be posted in either Alastor's Skull Tavern or the main BRP board, until a general d100 discussion panel is created. But yes, I would like to keep this space free for RQ6 discussions. I would move the discussions myself, but since changing to Invision my moderator rights have changed significantly so I can't actually edit what appears on this board.
  8. At the risk of sounding churlish, can I ask that any general d100 threads are posted somewhere else instead of using the RuneQuest page as a general chat room? I quite agree that a general d100 discussion board is needed, but I don't see why the RQ page should become the de facto host for such discussions until one is created. Many thanks.

  10. PM sent. Just for general info, there is no RQ6 SRD. There are a couple of SRDs knocking around - one for the Mongoose RuneQuest 1 version of RQ, and one for Vile's D100 approach. However, as RQ6 is not OGL, there's no SRD attached to it. We do welcome third party support. The RQ Gateway License accommodates third parties using and referring to the RQ6 rules directly and carrying the RQ Gateway Logo. However, we're not like Legend, OpenQuest or Renaissance. Hope this is of some help. Loz
  11. No, we won't be at Spiel, for the reasons nclarke says. It's also unlikely that there'll be copies of RQ6 there with Moon Design or Chaos Society. The small volumes sold at cons at the huge expense of shipping stock across to Germany is simply prohibitive.
  12. They're tied to the POW characteristic, aren't dished-out by the GM, and replenish every session. So, yes, they are...
  13. Agility is catered for in Athletics and Evade. Idea is catered for with Insight. Luck is catered for with Hero Points (which we deliberately renamed to Luck Points in RQ6 to draw the distinction).
  14. It's on You Tube - valuable reference for research into this scenario, although I'd known about the Wemyss Caves long before Time Team decided to excavate.
  15. We're delighted to give you a second preview of Mythic Britain - this time in the form of a complete scenario taken from the campaign section of the book. Merlin, the High Druid of Britain, sends the characters to retrieve the fabled Coat of Beisrydd, one of the Thirteen Treasures of Britain. To succeed they must find the help of the hero, Gawain, uncover the mysteries of Lindisfarena, and defy the wrath of Mawgaus, Druid-King of the fierce Circind Votadini - a powerful animist known to eat the brains of his enemies. http://www.thedesignmechanism.com/resources/Caves%20of%20the%20Circind.pdf
  16. The book is nearly complete but I can't fix a specific release date yet.
  17. I'll happily take your money right now, but you won't get the book for a little while... So I'd rather wait a little.
  18. It's Labour Day here in North America, and as a special Labour Day treat, we're delighted to share some preview pages of Mythic Britain. http://www.thedesignmechanism.com/resou ... iew%20.pdf The book is well on its way to completion and expect further news regarding production and release dates soon. We will also be releasing a scenario, Caves of the Circind, which previewed at GenCon 2014, for free very soon. Please spread the Mythic Britain news far and wide. Merlin demands it.
  19. No, we don't intend to produce a POD version.
  20. Although it's $60.00 it is a complete game with phenomenon content, 456 pages, and you get the PDF included.
  21. They're all very different disciplines requiring different characteristics. Good singers aren't always good dancers, good dancers aren't always good actors, and so on.
  22. Or use Art, which is the skill we had in mind when designing Legend/MRQII.
  23. Hello. I have a story for you. All this happened a long time ago. We can't be sure that it happened exactly as I'm going to tell it - or even if it happened at all - but it's good to pretend that it did. Here's part of a map. Just a part, because it's a very big map. I wonder what it's showing? I wonder what else it shows? I wonder what sort of book it's going to be in? What's that? Oh, yes. Merlin knows. Merlin knows *everything*... I wonder if there'll be parts of more pictures? Let's see... the more this post gets shared, or +1ed here, the more Merlin will reveal. Let's not disappoint Merlin. He doesn't *like* to be... *disappointed*... (To be continued)...
