  1. I actually have Arkwright stats for the Fourth Doctor... I'll email them to you.
  2. No it didn't. Whole section on Runic Affinities and cults defined by their runes. No it didn't; see above.
  3. It's possible to combine two orders, but bear in mind we won't despatch either book until CF is ready to ship.
  4. We are delighted to announce that Classic Fantasy is now available to pre-order in print, or buy for immediate download in PDF. Classic Fantasy brings Old School dungeon crawls to the Mythras and RuneQuest 6 rules. This 336 page book contains everything you need to emulate the fun of class and level-based adventuring, against the classic coterie of monsters, with the classic armoury of spells! If you've ever wanted to convert those old dungeon modules to a d100 system, then Classic Fantasy is for you. Packed with information and new rules additions, Classic Fantasy features a different approach to character creation based on classes such as the bard, cavalier, fighter, magic user, paladin and thief. Choose your race - human or demi-human - and then customize according to class, race and personal preference. If you're a magic user or cleric, the new magic rules for Arcane and Divine spells take the old staples such as Magic Missile, Charm, Fireball and more, and tailor them for the nuances of the Mythras and RQ6 systems. Or, for the more combat-oriented, the Classic Fantasy rules provide detailed miniatures-based combat adaptations for the traditional battle-board, complete with guidance on facings, positioning, and handling detailed movement. And of course, no book like this would be complete without monsters to kill and treasure to take! All the old favourites are accounted for, from Basilisks to Displacer Beasts, Grey Ooze to Gelatinous Masses, Kobolds, Gnolls, Hobgoblins and more. Forty pages of treasure and magic items helps you equip even the deepest dungeon with enough loot to satisfy the keenest adventuring party. You can buy Classic Fantasy in these ways... Preorder the Print Copy: $44.95, available in 6-8 weeks (shipping approx 1st June 2016) and get the PDF free of charge, with immediate download. Simply visit our online store (www.thedesignmechanism.com/products), and select Classic Fantasy from the Supplements catalogue. This is not a standalone game. Buy the PDF copy on its own, immediately: $19.95, either from our online store (and select Classic Fantasy PDF from the Supplements catalogue), or from DrivethruRPG (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/180255/Classic-Fantasy--TDM500) So break out the Mountain Dew and the Cheetos... Classic Fantasy is here!
  5. I'm very glad you enjoyed 'Mythic Britain'. Pete's 'Mythic Rome' is equally phenomenal. We're commissioning the art for it now, and I hope it will shortly be going in to layout.
  6. We are indeed publishing Pete's 'Rome' masterpiece for Mythras. I'm commissioning the art now, the manuscript is finishing editing, and it will be in print hopefully before the end of the year.
  7. Our first official Mythras product will be 'Classic Fantasy'. All our books will be rebranded (we've started the process and will increase it incrementally), and they're all available from our own website (www.thedesignmechanism.com/products), DrivethruRPG, and most good game stores. If your FLGS doesn't have our games, ask them to order from Alliance or Warpath in the US. We're in the final stages of arranging a UK/Europe distribution deal too, so by the summer it should easier (and cheaper) than ever before to get Mythras products.
  8. Really not sure what point you're making, but I'm reasonably certain that the etymology of the name is fully explained, and Mithras's existence acknowledged in my OP.
  9. We commissioned an extensive and thorough trademark and usage search by specialist IP and trademark lawyers, so yes.
  10. Mythras is the new name for RuneQuest 6th Edition, the acclaimed roleplaying system developed by The Design Mechanism. From July 2016, the name Mythras takes over from the previous trademark, but the same great rules continue, bringing you d100-based roleplaying adventure centred on logical, consistent, straightforward mechanics, coupled with innovative approaches to character creation, combat, magic and monsters. The name may have changed, but the song remains the same. Why did we choose Mythras as a name?First of all, the game has always been about adventuring in mythic landscapes, with characters shaping their own stories, creating their legends and forging their own myths. It comes from the authors’ deep love of real world myths and ancient stories and so is the natural starting point for a new name. Next comes Mithra or Mithras, a deity found in Persian, Greek, Roman, and Celtic mythologies. Mithras is a god of warriors, a divine protector of oaths and covenants, a protector of cattle and of waters. In the Zoroastrian Avestas, he is described as Mithra of Wide Pastures, of the Thousand Ears, and of the Myriad Eyes. Bringing these two sources together gives us Mythras, a game concerned with myths, protectors, oaths, great deeds and wonderful stories: the perfect name for our game system.
  11. This is a special sneak peak at the highly anticipated RuneQuest 6 and Mythras supplement, Classic Fantasy. With this book (to be released in April or May), fans of d100 roleplaying systems have all the tools they need to undertake Old School dungeon and wilderness crawls, with all the classes, spells, magic items and monsters found in one of the most venerable and fondly remembered game systems in the hobby. This 18 page preview gives a sample of the new rules, spells and monsters Classic Fantasy contains. It also introduces Mythras - the new name for RuneQuest 6th Edition, and we hope you enjoy this sample of what is to come! http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/175004/Classic-Fantasy-Preview?src=slider_view
  12. Can I quote this in press releases?
  13. It must be all the runes. Weird. I definitely thought I was quoting Rosen's text. Must be the Chaos rune.
  14. Ah, okay. That wasn't clear from your initial post, and actually you were suggesting something that drifts (perilously) close to the MRQ1 rune system. As Rosen McStern says, there's nothing wrong with such an approach as a house rule for your own setting or campaign, but there are definitely more creative ways of approaching the use of runes.
  15. The Rune Affinities in MRQII are very different to the idea you've proposed, which is very close to how MRQ1 worked. I think as a house rule, if it fits your setting, then go for it. As a formal rule, it's unlikely to be adopted, and I think that the way the Chaosium team are developing Runes as both Passions and Personality Traits is a far better and more creative way of integrating the runes into the fabric of the character. I'd actually suggest you wait a little and see if Jeff's Design Notes for the next edition of RQ give a more detailed idea of how Runes and characters tie together.
  16. Something similar was tried in Mongoose's first edition of RuneQuest. Runes could be found and attuned, with powers resulting and access to magic associated with that rune becoming available. It wasn't popular for many reasons, not least the fact that this was never how runes were intended to work in Glorantha.
  17. Classic Fantasy will be available via Drivethru in PDF only, but also direct from Design Mechanism. If you buy a dead tree copy from us, we give you the PDF free of charge and you'll be able to bookmark it however you wish. As to how long layout takes, well, that depends on what us being laid out. Right now, its the Monster chapter, which is one of the most complex in the book. After that comes placement of art, then proofing, and then pre-press adjustments.
  18. The softcover is out of stock, but we do have 52 hardcover copies available. You get the PDF free when ordering directly.
  19. My view is clear, I hope. A split will be made at the appropriate time, which is when the RQ license reverts to Moon Design and there's a need to clearly distinguish between our rebranded rules and the next RQ edition. That time is a few months away, and so there is no need to effect a split. I think this part of the board accommodates all versions of RQ pretty well, and there is ample time to work out a migration plan.
  20. Actually, no. Pete and I changed it for MRQII (if you check MRQ1, you'll see Dodge is in the basic skill list) because we changed the way dodging/evasion work mechanically to better fit with the new combat rules. This whole idea that Mongoose changed things to avoid being sued is just baloney. They had a legitimate license for RuneQuest and obviously had to rewrite core text to avoid standard copyright issues with BRP and earlier RQ editions - but no one was going to sue anyone for anything.
  21. We don’t have a license to publish AiG (beyond what was agreed for the GenCon preview), so we won’t be doing any further work in it.
