  1. The old way, unless the new version can tell us what new messages await.
  2. Where is the little box that tells me if there are new posts since my last visit?
  3. Can we see your house rules and conversion notes?
  4. Yes, I have it. It was no more useful then the Seasonal Guides for the series. Infact, it was like two seasonal guides meshed together. Some of the BG for the universe and races was a slight bit of help for the conversions I did to D6 Space (as well as using Star Wars D20 with its D6 conversion in the back), but I largely just rewatched the proper episodes as I was writing the entries for each race and group. I converted some of the priest/mystic powers over as well. The weapons/equipment section was probably the most useful. I went all out when I did the farscape D6 rules, including reading all the comics (both), all the novels (all three even), rewatching the series (again again), the four illustrated companions and so forth. Im a scaper, what can I say? As far as running D20 Farscape, it worked much better once we used it with D20 Modern instead of basing it off 3E like it was originally intended to be done (the book came out before D20 Modern), but it was still D20. Once I got D6 Space it just made sense to use it for that setting instead of D20. I need to dig out those notes and files and re-edit them and put them in a PDF!!!
  5. Sold on that one. Do anything for Dethklok. Do anything for Dethklok. Do anything for Dethklok. Do anything for Dethklok. I... Teach You... Who... Rock... Dethklok! Dethklok! But seriously. How about Farscape? Or Rifts (I like the setting, but only North America and the Coalition stuff, the game got a bit silly after about 5 or so books)? Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan/The Hollows series would be good. Maybe BPRD/Hellboy?
  6. Is fading suns available as a PDF somewhere?
  7. I would recommend the Warhammer 40K universe. Not too much space fighter dogfights, but you can squeeze them in. The current rules are close to % base, but the careers are heavily flawed and they forgot to get an editor and left some basic stuff out of the game. (fluff, charts and such refer to orks and eldar, but just try finding stats for them, and vehicles as a separate PDF?) It has the intrigue and imperial structure similar to Dune, some Star Wars concepts (not too many) and some cool back ground. I am just not a big fan of Space Marines.
  8. Now that 3 hour fantasy/science fiction films are not only are made well but with lots of action and star power btu with todays modern audience being used to film franchises, this has a great shot at being a good 3 or 4 picture series. I just hope for once they dont get some blah acting pretty boy to play Paul.
  9. Ive heard this before. Arrakis, Iraq. Spice, Oil. Fremen, Insurgents. Harkonnen, American. :deadhorse:
  10. So interesting ideas so far. I will admit it now, my exposure to Dune is through the movies and Sci-Fi TV Mini-Series and an attempt during AIT to read the first novel. Im more of a 40K guy and while working on some Dark Heresy stuff I suddenly got the Dune kick. Another setting that sucks mechanis wise but would be cool in another system (D6 or BRP methinks) is Rifts, especially if you ignore everything after the fifth book.
  11. Just another thing to add to my list of things that I want to do and will never get around to. Stupid real life jobs.
  12. Found it. Well since I dont have $275 to blow on a game with a questionable system and no sourcebooks and so on and so forth, my other questions are still posted. Could be a good setting, but how do you do it in BRP?
  13. Has anyone done anything with DUNE for a RPG setting? Ever? How would you handle the setting? What special rules if any would you need? Would the wierding way be psionic or super power in nature? Would you need to develope in depth weapon listings, or is it a setting where light blaster, medium blaster, heavy blaster work just fine? Do they even use blasters or are they all projectiles? Basically what elements from the books (or films if you prefer) would you think would need to be adapted to game mechanics to allow the settings flavor through?
  14. So basically they were used as "models" to show different shapes. And G Gygax went "hmmm if only they were numbered!"
  15. So what were icosohedrons used for before D&D?
  16. Fourth Edition should be dedicated to him. With agreat big picture of him and Arneson on the first page! (and the 2nd Edition rules being in the book)
  17. Thank you, but only some of it is my work (Character Creation alternatives, Dark Eldar, Commissars, Hrud) and the rest from other contributors. You know I use to run 40K straight from the Codexes as a RPG using the WEG D6 rules. I knew another guy who ran 40K using the MEGS DC Heroes rules. Both had flaws, but worked pretty well over all. Biggest problem was giving players characters skills.
  18. I hate to be the messenger of this set of news, but even ifyou dont like D&D or what it became, we still can show our respect for a man who mad a movement that we all played a role in. I guess in the end, we were all players in the game he ran. Dungeons & Dragons co-creator dies at 69 - Yahoo! News
  19. The 40K-iverse has many planets they focus on. From those of the Sabbat world, to Cadia, Tanith, Mordia, Tallarn and so forth. For the Dark Heresy Role Playing Game the creator a new Sector to play around with and dedicated 40 pages of the core rules to it as well as a lengthy portion of its web site. Heck they even opened up and let some fans design some of the multitude of worlds for them. And I recall the Star Wars WEG D6 RPG having many sourcebooks based on the movies that delved into things like Dagobah, Hoth and Tattoine. In the end there is no true difference between sci-fi and fantasy settings other then how you get around. Planets like Tattoine and Cadia are just variations of "climate or terrain" for encounter tables and serve much the same role as cities like Freeport or Waterdeep do. "Hey we have to track that rogue sorcerer down who stole the magic sword. He was here in Freeport but we need to charter a boat to Waterdeep to stop him!" becomes "Hey we have to track that rogue psykerdown who stole the cursed eye. He was here on Cadia but we need to charter a transport to Scintila to stop him!"
  20. Its on my lap top with the adventures Im editing. So with downtime and in flight movies, I hope to have it all done in the 30-45 days Im gone. Ill take the 0Edition with me for additional reading as well.
  21. Good news and bad news. Good news it I will have plenty of down time (and my lap top with me) to edit the adventures. However, the bad news is I will be out on a mission for 30-45 days and will not be able to work on the PDFs or postings. To that end I may write a third short adventure (about the size of the Christmas Adventure) and put all of the Berlin '61 adventures together in one book. Would this appeal to anyone?
  22. The more I read though they less I like it. First the careers and now starting characters. They just suck. Everyone can speak Low Gothic and shoot some sort of gun but thats about it. Im about to seriously edit the rules to be more similar to beginning WHFRP characters including the two random skills/talents. And speaking of talents, is it more, or are these feats? I think your D20 observation is correct, but as others have been saying, even in D20 you have career jumping these days. Lets hope the Inquisitors Guide due out later this year fixes this stuff.
  23. You hear that everyone. I WAS RIGHT! Ha ha!!! Ha ha ha!!!! (can you please teach my fiance how to say those words?) I have been reading 40KRP these past days and it is incredible, though it could have used more of the fantasy rules (like careers and some skills/talents) and looks to be muy muy fun.
