Psullie Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 On the Dragon Pass map in RQ:G, southwest of Sun Dome is a village of Stagwood. I've not come across this before. Does anyone know if this is a Sun Dome or Volsaxi settlement? Quote

Jeff Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Stagwood (hill fort): This hill fort is the main settlement of the Rostoak Clan of the Curtali Tribe. It is the political center of the Curtali Tribe, although Vorda Hill is the religious center. There is a minor temple to Orlanth Thunderous and Ernalda, with a shrine to the Barntar subcult. 3 1 Quote
Psullie Posted March 30, 2021 Author Posted March 30, 2021 Thank you both! Is there more info on the Curtali Tribe available or is this snippet from a future publication? Quote
Leingod Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Wyrm's Footnotes #15 has a very brief blurb on pg. 39. Quote Stagwood: This ancient fortress at the edge of the Neutral Hills belongs to the Curtali Tribe of the Volsaxi Confederation. The same page also briefly describes the Neutral Hills. Quote Neutral Hills: These hills divide Beast Valley from the human-settled lands and the immortal king of the Beast People, Ironhoof. He has forbidden humans from dwelling permanently here and enforces this decree. The local tribes use the hills as summer pasture. These hills were once the Stag Woods, an ancient forest destroyed by the dragons in the Dragonkill. There is only a sprinkling of trees here now. 1 Quote
David Scott Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Jeff may know more, look in RQG page 108, it says the Curtali are part of the Hendriki tribal confederation with Whitewall at the centre. 1 Quote ----- Search the Glorantha Resource Site: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com. Joerg Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 The Curtali are one of three smaller tribes (i.e. the same size as Sartarite tribes) belonging to the Volsaxi just south of Sartar, alongside the Sylangi and Bacofi. There is crowd-sourced information mixed with information from canonical sources on them in "Dragon Pass: Land of Thunder - A Gazetteer to Kerofinela", from the HeroQuest 1st Edition era. They were tributary to the Kitori prior to Tarkalor Trollkiller's Kitori campaigns - apparently several campaigns, as there are several dates for the Kitori ceding certain places (Sun Dome County, Whitewall). King of Sartar mentions the Night Jumpers, a magical society of troll enemies, coming from a Kurtali clan, which is assumed to have been part of the Curtali tribe. 1 Quote Telling how it is excessive verbis
Martin Posted March 30, 2021 Posted March 30, 2021 Here is some information I did for the clan dated 1618. The Rendestanding “The Rost Oak Clan” The Rendestanding live in and around the hill fort of Stagswood, nestled in the Neutral Hills to the west of Forthan’s River. They are a composite clan composed of those Orgorvaltes survivors who were driven over the Dragonspine by the Stravuli and Ergeshi that capitalized on the succession crisis following the death of Monrogh, Count of Vaantar, in 1585 and fled the oppressive rule of the Sun Dome Templars. Currently the clan holds the tribal hill-fort at Stagwood, which they have held since Enfrew became Tribal King in 1580. It is the political center of the Curtali Tribe, although Vorda Hill remains the religious center. Their Queen, Doressa Key-Keeper, is the leading priestess of Asrelia among the Curtali. Doressa monitors and records the food production of the Curtali and holds the keys to the vault that holds the most sacred treasures of the tribe. Her hall is in the protection of the “Rost Oak,” a great sacred oak tree some 95’ tall and spread of 75’, the widest spread of any oak tree of Dragon Pass. They are also notable for brewing the extremely potent Rost Beer, which causes hallucinations and vomiting in those unused to imbibing it. 1 Quote
