Hunger : Uz or Krarsht

Not except in environment: Both prefer to be underground.    Krarsht is chaotic and Kyger Litor is emphatically not chaotic.  It's not a common ancestor.

Krarsht runes are movement, Chaos, stasis.

Kygeritor. Mother of the Uz, is Darkness and Man runes.

I think it's just a game design thing, that hunger motivates both to eat folks who would rather not be eaten.

Different kinds of hunger, IMO. All of Darkness has Eating as a passion or drive, munching on something is the natural state of being for creatures of Darkness, or preparing to do so by hunting tastier prey.

Troll hunger is also their expression of curiosity, similar to that of sharks who will try to take a bite out of just about anything that registers to them as of potential interest.

Darkness hunger can be appeased by gorging oneself into a pleasant stupor. I doubt that Krarsht is able to find this fleeting satisfaction with her PreDark form of Hunger, the need to take in Creation to appease the non-Creation inside her.

Maybe Darkness hunger is the desire to fill up an internal space, and Chaos hunger is the desire to feed an internal non-space.

I realized that hunger is an important part of the UZ but also of Krarsht. Any link between the two?

Not explicitly, but Krarsht can be seen as a Chaotic reflection/parody of Darkness in the way that Gloomshark is of Water or Sky Tyrant is of Fire. Fusing a roughly arthropod form together around a body that's mostly mouth.

Or gravity collapsing matter to a point mass? And presumably when Kajabor was first called “the Black Hole”, we thought black holes destroyed even information. Chaos as memory hole. As the void.

Trolls aren't really connected to the Hunger Rune.

Hunger Rune cults include Krarsht, Vivamort and Gloomshark, all very different cults.

I have a soft spot for Krarsht because she is the patron goddess of London. We have an extensive system of underground tunnels, and at each entrance to the network we have a temple of motion/stasis marked with the deprecated chaos rune.

A friend played a series of extended RQ sessions in a Krarsht Complex, i.e. a complex Great Temple. As they played it, they got the strange feeling that it seemed familiar. It was only very near the end that they realised that the Krarsht Tunnels map was based on the London Underground Tube Map.

Tell me the climax of the scenario was at Mornington Crescent.

For reference, a solar take on troll hunger (The Glorious Re-ascent of Yelm, p. 18):

Quote

Inside of the cold earth the shadows took substance and form. They took names for themselves, and they sought prey. They captured Lodril and his household, who were so weak that they lay helpless in bed. Then they released many of the demons of the fourth Underworld, which raped the helpless goddesses and handmaids. From that evil act was born the cold, hungry race of darkness, the Digijelm. The body and innards of Lodril and the earth were infested.

To be taken with more than a pinch of salt, I imagine. Digijelm = Uz, at least per Anaxial’s Roster.
