  1. From GtG p.470... imports versus exports. So we need to locate the copper mines. It also lists artifacts so maybe small numbers of stone creatures/fossils are taken and exported. Likely the Urox of Bullpen (YGWV) don't wish for the Stonewood to be weakened and try to stop the removal of artifacts from there? Possibly the twisted-off head of the storwalk mountain god slain by St. Urox is actually copper and not bronze? We were looking for a reason to justify a mine not far from Stonewood where the head was thrown and embedded into the side of the Syphon Valley, where the red arrow in the clip is. They mine the copper via some Dwarvish consulting fend off bandits, trolls and more likely scorpionmen!
  2. Do they have good curry there? We are in London once a year, were thinking on the Victoria Aviation Museum one of these times and could stop in Sleaford on a travel loop of sorts if there is really good curry there? (Possibly the mention was an inside joke of sorts and we should skip Sleaford?) Several things to see in Sleaford but its missing the really big wow factor in regards to points of interest? On that note would there be coconuts on Trowjang or anywhere in Glorantha, torn between Thai coconut curry and that originating from the Subcontinent... This also caught my eye... would the small Hsunchen population on Trowjang not have some males as part of their tribes/clans and if so would they be kept corralled in certain areas? If so on what terms would they interact with the Amazons?
  3. Archaeological records show the Olmec people were the first to create a tangible, usable rubber “product.” Because natural rubber melts in heat and tends to get sticky when handled, they mixed harvested latex with morning glory juice for a sturdier material. I will have our Glorantha's Trowjang dotted with rubber trees and morning glories? Vine and liana seedlings grow fast in the tropics and often get their start at the forest edge or in gaps where trees have fallen and sunlight floods in. So curry, latex clothing and rubber boots come from the Amazons. No wonder all the guys want to go there?! If the architectural frieze were in color you'd see the reflective red on their hats and shirts paying homage to Toldat. Maybe we should start another thread with rubber use in Glorantha?
  4. If you buy your PDF copy it'll help push it to POD... I bought mine (first PDF without POD) hoping it'll go to POD but didn't read it yet as an old fashion with an extra cherry while holding the book is good relaxing! Fingers crossed it'll be POD before winter...
  5. Ok, so cross the Bay get copper in Esrolia, then to Sky Reach Springs (TotRM 04 p.04) pass along Dragon Spine Ridge, take some weapons to the Tarsh Exiles and then on to Dwarf Mine, etc.
  6. Actually it was noted that the trees from which the British longbows were made were grown especially in the churchyards? I can't find the citation where I read it... so yes graveyards! Not boring but exciting...
  7. Was looking at amazon entries in the GtG and came across Korola-ator. And yet another really cool rabbit hole: In Korola-ator arrow bushes are grown in a magical orchard. Therein also dwells a regiment of copper-clad amazons which are called the Copper Girls. As YGWV we'll come up with better title for these feisty warrior women... Maybe a name is just something simple, associated with copper such as the Eternal Cohort or the Korola-ator Cuprum Cohort? Seems more in line with renown Lunar names like the Marble Phalanx? With copper being their color/metal and the fact that they are growing magical arrows gives me the impression that there might be elves afoot possibly the commander of the cohort is a female elf and they all have bows rather than javelins or a good number of them do? Also within the city is an important market with the Eolian tribes of Thrice Blessed. What is being traded in the far north end of the Glowline, furs, Batbrew? Does the Cohort Prefect request a crafted suit of armor of Heortland copper fashioned by Isidilian's armorers? (I know eleves are good at crafting copper but the commander is vain and a noble of sorts so she needs something that is imported and flashy, expensive...) In 1600, the PC's travel to Dwarf Run with the copper for mines in the Heortland (we'll find a mine there or make one up) along with other luxury items, spices, silks, clearwine, etc. They do some adventuring while it is fabricated. Miskander's Tower anyone or the Snake Pipe Hollow adventure from RQA 05? Yes the dates get adjusted... Do they travel with Joh to Slavewall who is heading to Elkoi and on to Balazar as he doesn't yet know of the pass near Door Mountain? They meet Ismail Akritas' and sail with him from say Slavewall, he tries to swindle them as part of this journey. TofRM 16 p.22 There will of course be language mishaps, the PC's try to say something complimentary but Oh dogfart is spoken... fun roleplaying. The PC's eventually reach Korola-ator and need to conduct a quest to be granted some arrow bush saplings or seeds in addition to the armor being delivered and the trade goods they have brought... extensive bargaining follows, maybe even Biturian Varosh is with them long before he goes to Prax? Its a stretch but it is 1600 so Joh and Biturian are much younger and more adventurous. (yes they might be too young but what a fews years of game age for NPC's) Maybe an air elemental is sent into the orchard to fetch some seeds and the PC's are blamed, maybe they sent the Sylph? Or possibly the PC's need to quest to recover something the regiment lost long ago? Visions of the dude in the bubble at the top of some famous mountain in ancient armor comes to mind. It could be something like that? Inside the bubble is a corpse. It looks freshly dead, but the armor and clothing are ancient. Does a lost Lhankor Mhy document turn up while the PC's are researching the rumored arrow bushes and the settlement that grew around them known as Berthestead.. while doing the research it gives them a lead similar to An Inquiry Upon Lost Treasures that Lucien the Diviner penned? I should go to my old zines like the New Lolon Goepel and others that have all things Lunar in them. I may even have to crack the piggy bank and get Jaja's Edge of Empire to help fill in the blanks between Slavewall and Mirin's Cross: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/421314/Edge-of-Empire-RuneQuest?src=by_author_of_product The return trip has the vessel loaded with kegs of Batbrew (does this translate to guwano slurry) and other trade goods from near Korola-ator as well as the saplings or seeds for the arrow bushes. https://glorantha.steff.in/digests/ImmoderateGloranthaQuest/3767.html So we have long distance caravan from Sartar with and an amazon from Trowjang, a few merchants with a half elven to act as gardener from the Pavis Garden all going on a long journey into and through the Lunar Heartlands. 5 of the 8 PC's are female so they might actually get along well with the Amazons if they can manage to learn some New Pelorian on their journey? The PC's are able to get an overview of the peoples and culture they will be dealing with in the very near future... the rituals and bloodletting at Alkoth should be interesting for the PC's to see and avoid... It's about a 1440km odyssey one way or there abouts, hexes on the AAA estimated. Further below is the journey rough route. From Backford to Whitewall, Wilmskirk, Dwarf Mine, Slavewall, Mirin's Cross, Alkoth, etc. to Korola-ator. I like the last pic the most, a copper clad amazon with spear and shield, happens to have an elvish look like plants but not plant-like (sorry no bark skin, our glorantha does very). Next topic, where does a tree similar to the taxus baccata grow in north central glorantha?
  8. It might even be an aphrodisiac of some sort coming from Trowjang? That would be a trade good in high demand.
  9. The stars align! Or should I say the Red Moon is full... 😁
  10. Cocoa, opium, etc. better than haiza for hero questing... made me think of puffer fish - fugu, leave in just enough poison to tingle the nerves? Saffron and bay scallops, as long as the spice doesn't overpower the scallops! if that is what you meant by "red"?
  11. What would be the sources for spices similar to the following: turmeric, coriander, fenugreek, cinnamon, cumin, black pepper, ginger, and cardamom? If curry thrives in a hot, humid climate could these spices not be known to come from Trowjang and they are the cause of extensive trade from there since the Opening? If that is the case maybe the name for the City of Uxoral Ecstasy comes not from what happens there once a year but via the food and recipes that originate therefrom? As spicy as an Amazonian is a new saying along the southern coast of Genertela? (I realize the Islands and southern continent have likely sources but at this time we are not interested in them thank you.) Also some female yellow elves from the adjacent islands help with tending the spice gardens...
  12. I'm not from Wisconsin but I am pretty sure the Joe's Pasty Shop in Rhinelander, Wisconsin uses some old Roman recipes for their meat pies? (I actually have no idea but seems appropriate?)
  13. I thought it was mostly on the God's Plane? Wouldn't Lhankor Mhy will the temperature for storage of scrolls and bound rare books to be between 18 °C and 21 °c or 65°F to 70°F with the relative humidity (RH) be between 40%-55%. Low RH levels can make bark much more brittlerer.
  14. I hadn't read the last few chapters... I am thinking the Night Jumpers' shrine to be atop Vorda Hill but was happy to see the Strom Walkers' shrine is at the Old Wind Temple. Thank you Mr. Scott.
  15. I like the cameo A Storm Upon the Singing Trail by Mr. Smith in TotRM p.45 but wish to use a modified version of it in Heortland, Sartar or Prax. I see vistages of the Mt. Montserrat in Spain, the likes of the Alluvial Fan in Estes Park or the Narrows of Zion Canyon being the host for a flash flood. It could also easily be set along one of the rivers in the Heortland besides the Syphon in the Heortland, that is unless it were some sort of tidal wave from the Bay but not likely. One thought was to set it on the river running from Wild Mt. down to Kjartan's Lake and have the boy upriver from Spawn who knows, maybe he was hunting up toward Wild Mt. and if if it is here then the old man could be some sort of Orlanthi spirit with an archway and shrine easy to place somewhere upon the side of Wild Mt. Another thought would be at Cam's Well which is full of snakes but the insertion of a flash flood might be more difficult to generate?
  16. I bought this group (below) reluctantly a few weeks back as I always want to hold the hard copy and read it like the old days when people actually read books and didn't just watch videos for their knowledge, not everyone is included but it seems that way... I understood the product needs to be an electrum seller and then its at least another 2-3 months before it might be able to be POD. If I go to the neighborhood printer FXK its about $1.37 to get color double sided copy per page. It'll cost about $110.00 to get it printed without some coupon or deal. I do not wish to pay that for a copy easily damaged. I had no issue purchasing the Six Seasons, Company and others totaling IIRC just over $300 a few months ago and plan to get the below in POD as soon as they are available but until both Valley and Nochet are out for POD I'll unfortunately not likely purchase another PDF. Old fashion is to hold something I suppose.
  17. My apologies to Yinkin, this post was about the group that went to get Temertain in Seapolis not the Gloranthian refrigeration cycle... Sources I looked at show that it seems to be up for grabs as to who was there when Temertain was initially approached about being the heir but for me its leaning away from Redbird being the first. Redbird and Leika found Temertain in the Seapolis library during Starbrow's Revolt. Maybe Redbird's trollkin slave was with them, possibly a couple of them? Kallai and some Colymar elders agreed to organize a small party who would travel through the Other Side to the Holy Country. Redbird evidently meets some ducks sailing downriver and gets a ride with them. WFN 12 p.12-15 Camille Laurin convinced Temertain by suggesting he become the grand Philosopher King of Grey Lord's lore... (does anyone know more about Camille as she's not in the Digest, the Well of Daliath 1613 CLAYDAY / ILLUSION WEEK is when the party approaches Temertain with the treaty. It is also note in WFN p.15 that Gringle Goodsell was in the Holy Country with the heir (Temertain) and so he may have also been part of the small party organized by the Colymar? What is interesting is that when Alexander is with Temertain and promises that Redbird will be his adviser, then the Lhankor Mhy cult sends for Redbird so maybe he wasn't with the original party that went to look for Temertain? Clayday/Illusion Week/Fire Season 1613 - Redbird was summed to come to Temertain from Nochet after Alexander, Laurin, possibly Gringle and Leika found him in the Seapolis Library? I am thinking she is Camille the Quick... if so she seems kind of slimey to me, just like Redbird. https://glorantha.fandom.com/wiki/Camille_the_Quick Thanks for the great thread topic Yinkin!
  18. I discovered that site, it's got great exchanges from way back when... 1000's and 1000's of posts, seen items from the mid 90's. great stuff in there. I suppose its one and the same but I hoped for another treasure trove of archive stuff. Wishful thinking. Thanks again Mr. Mohrfield!
  19. Does anyone know where the archives might still be accessible if they are? It seems the links don't process for me currently... http://eiderweb.net/safelster/background/gd-searches/malkion.html
  20. I see the box/cube at the east side near the "S" on the map. I was hoping for a Night Jumper and or Humakti shrine up there along with Orlanth but since one note had Fodronu Enchasol's shrine the Leafless Warrior related I suppose it'll go in the Old Elf Ruin just as well? The Night Jumpers' shrine might well be part of the Orlanth Temple... if not where else might it be? Thanks!
  21. We need a new thread: Gloranthian refrigeration cycle. Dwarven copper piping for condensate lines of course...
  22. It is interesting how many versions there are. Even in the same text there are differences. Redbird and Leika found Temertain in the Seapolis library during Starbrow's Revolt. Maybe Redbird's trollkin slave was with them, possibly a couple of them? https://glorantha.fandom.com/wiki/Redbird_the_Sorcerer Kallai and some Colymar elders agreed to organize a small party who would travel through the Other Side to the Holy Country. Redbird evidently meets some ducks sailing downriver and gets a ride with them. WFN 12 p.12-15 Camille Laurin convinced him by suggesting he become the grand Philosopher King of Grey Lord's lore... 1613 CLAYDAY / ILLUSION WEEK is when the party approaches Temertain with the treaty. It is also note in WFN p.15 that Gringle Goodsell was in the Holy Country with the heir and so he may have also been part of the small party organized by the Colymar? What is interesting is that when Alexander is with Temertain and promises that Redbird will be his adviser, then the Lhankor Mhy cult sends for Redbird? Clayday/Illusion Week/Fire Season 1613 - Redbird was summed to come to Temertain from Nochet after Alexander, Laurin and possibly Gringle and Leika found him in the Seapolis Library? It was also noted that Ducks were garding Temertain it seems, prior to Redbird heading from Nochet to Seapolis... interestingly there isn't a Y shaped building or one that looks like most of a Y in Seapolis that I am able to see. Guessing its a simple structure or group of buildings on the same island as the Temple of Dormal? Then again, maybe the library isn't in town as the dampness of the bay wouldn't be conducive to long term storage of scrolls and the like? Curious would air elementals be able to purge humidity from air similar to water elementals being able to cleanse/purify water? It'd be like the forefathers of modern AC units.
  23. Curious as to where anyone has placed an entrance to Jevdur in their Glorantha? MLD p.34 notes there is an entrance to Jevdur in one of the ruins in Dragon Pass... surely the high level Lhankor Mhy officials know where its is located or do possibly the PC's stumble upon it somehow without even truly knowing until they go and research it. If the real location in God Time was where the ruins on the Stream is located southeast of Duck Ferry (red arrow in clip below) it could be entered there once located and or revealed to the PC's? Its hidden until it wishes to be found by those it/Lhankor Mhy deems worthy, it becomes visible similar to the Six Seasons in Sartar, p80 Dragon Temple.? We are guessing the middle ruins closer to Shuttle is the likely spot for the PP p.113 Ruin on the Stream. It could be switched easily enough. As we see it Jevdur could also possibly be entered via Hero Questing from any of the major libraries' deep catacombs? Maybe the entrance is discovered deep in the Nochet library basement while working through MOB's Getting of Wisdom but a ritual would be used to gain access.... I always liked this possible approach from Pavis & Big Rubble p. 261:
