  1. I don't see it out there anymore (had been at one point, but that may have been pre-Jonstown Compendium).
  2. OY! "The Light reveals the Truth!"
  3. Interesting use. I can see that though vs. having the low difficulties. Similar. We adopted straight augments right from the start. I think in the nearly 7 years of running HQG we've had just a couple instances of rolling the augment, and that was during their quest through Hell. I use them only during the climactic events - halfway through the scenario and at the ending. I've liked the dramatic tension it adds, particularly if it forces the heroes to take desperate actions to survive.
  4. There's certainly an association with the various Hunter's cults including Orogeria and Odayla. But, I agree that she seems to be "primal nature", not "hunting". The myths that we have of her (in Heortling Mythology and King of Sartar p.88-89) always seem to be of the "prey that cannot be caught" quest type, except until Ironhoof does (once). I'd likely lean to some mix of theistic and spirit (spirit cult?), though she feels like something that should be propitiated and never commanded. Her magics seem like they might be associated with Beast (certainly not Man! or anything civilized) and possibly Illusion or Movement. She might offer the array of Illusion spells, or possibly Invisibility. She might offer Mobility or other spells to Hide or Camouflage.
  5. Giant otters could also be a good choice.
  6. Ompalam: "Slavery is Freedom!"
  7. Definitely recommend SKoH for its scenario and ideas on Indrodar's Necklace, Indrodar himself, and Indrodar's sword.
  8. In the Guide, try p.84 (dwarf constructs), p.192 (Gonn Orta's search in the Hero Wars box), p.193 (Gonn Orta), p.197 (Gonn Orta's Pass), p.457 (River of Cradles box). For some other gigantic monsters, check out the section on Slon in the Guide. (It's got aspects of the Edgar Rice Burroughs' Land that Time Forgot to it, except ruled over by dwarfs.)
  9. One thing to think about is what the Sky Ship is or means to the different groups. The planet was known as: Anaxial or Anaxial's Ark in Dara Happa Diros among the Orlanthi and Pelaskites Waertag by the Malkioni The Lucky Star by High Llama Tribe Tsankth by the Vormaino The Sky Ship to Kallyr/Danar For the trolls, it may be connected to Jeset the Ferryman (and a way to retrieve the souls of those who have died under the light of the Sun). Each of these groups likely have their own Stations/events associated with the Boat Planet's quest and journey. As for actions to raise the Boat Planet, I liked the imagery in Gathering Thunder of a vast group of folk (of all the different groups trying to restore it) all pulling upon great ropes to right the ship at the Sky Port (being somewhere near the Gates of Dawn). There are parallels subsequently to the adventure in 11L as the ship begins its journey up the Celestial River. Hostile beings and creatures oppose it, particularly Shargash but also the River Hippo and other Sky folk. The Gathering Thunder adventure breaks off at the Dragon Isles, but the Sky Ship clearly has to journey on through the Sky Desert and then through the Gates of Dusk and then all the way across the River Styx and Hell in order to rise again.
  10. I think it's quite easy for a GM (or player) to add such if they think it adds value to a campaign. The challenge with Flaws is that a success doesn't necessarily "Inspire" you, but strongly directs you towards using the Flaw. You could use them as something that has to be overcome with an Opposed Roll. But I think mechanics with them get somewhat fiddly and they may be best left to roleplaying the character.
  11. I toyed with the idea of adding Obsession (x) as it encompassed Lust, but could cover a broader array of "flaws" including Greed, Addictions, etc.
  12. Not to my knowledge, but I believe those are among the works that Jason is heading up.
  13. The HW/HQ book Gathering Thunder has one take on PC's joining Kallyr's quest and is the only published material on that. For timing, it takes place in Seaseason 1624 shortly before the Battle of Pennel Ford. (Timing aligns with the return of Harrek and Argrath from their circumnavigation of the Seas.) Nominally, Orngerin, Minaryth, and Orstalor Spearlord join Kallyr in the Grazelands at the start of the quest. Also Orlaront Dragonfriend, who helps with the later Dragonrise. And a character named Danar Orelos is from DH and has the sky lore needed to help Kallyr get into the Sky.
  14. In my old RQ3 campaign, the PC's made it to Giant Land in pursuit of some relic and were able to trade with Gonn Orta for it. All the miniature figures of the PC's fit very nicely into the palm of Gonn Orta's hand! (~6 ft human to 28mm miniature is the right ratio of Gonn Orta to PC). I believe the two "statues" standing outside the Dwarf Mine in Dragon Pass are actually giant Jolanti guards. (At least I'd play them as such)
  15. Check out RQG Bestiary in the Terrors section for: Cwim, and the Chaos Gaggle which, if complete, would reform as the Sky Terror. (Along with the Mother of Monsters, Cwim and the Sky Terror form the threesome in Sandy Petersen's Gods War game as the Chaos Monsters.) The Gods War game also included Cosmic Monsters which were: Leviathan, the Juggernaut, and Androgeus. And of course the Dragons.
  16. The Telmori due to the fact that Kallyr is heir to Sartar. For the Culbrea, one of her key supporters is Orngerin who hails from that tribe and has many connections there. As for the Cinsina, less clear given their opposition to the Telmori (and dislike of the Culbrea).
  17. Oh, well, there happen to be tasks that need completion for the World Machine to run properly. Maybe go and recover a dwarf artifact or device from a dragon hoard (e.g. scenario in Sartar Companion), or from a troll lair (another scenario in Sartar Companion). Or plug up a hole to the Void. Etc. That is, they want "expendable" units to perform tasks that would otherwise endanger their workers.
  18. The predestined line is likely to only cover one particular pathway. I think there will be plenty of room for many of us to go "off the grid" 🙂 and still fit right into the overarching setting.
  19. No, I think Jason meant that the Starter Set would include a basic guide to the world of Glorantha to help newcomers understand what it is about. You could use the RQ Classic Solo collection (if you haven't already). But yes, I was happy to have those solo adventures available years ago to actually play some RQ before I had a gaming group available, and it will be nice to see a new one! I'm hoping this turns out to be the Rainbow Mounds. 🙂
  20. Mother of Monsters is fun. More like a feature of nature, but she used to wander the shores of the Maslo Sea (in Pamaltela) and each day gave birth to one chaos monster. The type of chaos monster born depended on whether it was born on land, at sea, or on the shore (based on the tidal factor). These horrors are dangerous enough!
  21. If you're using HQG. It was the other way in HQ2 and before. If your base ability is say 2W and your breakout is +6, then your target ability for your roll is 8W. [generally the target number goes before the W/M and the level of masteries to the right of that] So as a result, if you roll 1, you get a critical, and your mastery lets you bump down the opponent's result. If you roll 2-8, you get a success, which you bump up to a critical. If you roll 9-19, you get a fail but bumps up to a success. If you roll 20, its a fumble I bump to a failure (but I don't recall if that is actually correct or not). You then compare to the result of the difficulty/opponent to determine Level of Victory.
  22. Certainly sounds like a grand plan! Watch out for the returning Firebergs though, and the chaotic Mother of Monsters (who if I recall correctly was forced out into the ocean by Harrek during his circumnavigation of the ocean and may be heading northward). Or Leviathan who hasn't been seen in awhile but now that the Closing has ended, just might show back up...
  23. Or suddenly they find that the bear skin is in fact a god, a rather angry White Bear god in its own right (it might actually take its own revenge upon Harrek!). And it's only going to be happy when the PC's aid it in returning to its glacial home...
  24. Manatees, water lizards, crocodiles, river horses (special gifts from Engizi),...
  25. The question was asked on FB as to what would be in the Starter Set. This was Jason's reply: Basic rules, guide to Glorantha, 14 pregens, maps, dice, a solo adventure, a guide to Jonstown, two all new adventures, + one updated classic, and much more. ...The goal was to make it appeal to new players as well as longtime fans.
