  1. I could very easily imagine a situation where a lone hunter or woodsman gets visited by a strange woman for a single night, and years later encounters his offspring. (No "Lay Member" jokes, please.)
  2. I'm getting vibes of Nordic Huldra or Rå (which would essentially map to Nymphs in Glorantha) but less malicious. She turns up in myths a fair amount as the mother of various less-civilized offspring (Odayla, Ormalaya, Ironhoof's son), so perhaps it's not so much that she can't be caught, as that it has to be a proper hunting/courting combination? She also at times seems like a counterpoint to Ernalda, being the wild lands instead of the cultivated ones. Beast absolutely seems right for runes, and I do agree that it's hard to pinpoint her as either theistic or spirit.
  3. We know from the Guide that the Penenethelli worshipped The Lady of the Wild, and that the inhabitants of the modern site of Talada in Aggar still do (and that, presumably, other cult centers might exist in Aggar and Skanthiland). But what would such a cult look like? Theistic or Spirit Cult? What spells might make sense? Wat kind of cult structure? The Guide seems to identify The Lady of the Wild with Orogeria, which would make it a hunting cult, but I'm not completely sure if I like that. I'm thinking more of "primal nature" than "hunting".
  4. Also works for the Cult of Silence.
  5. "We have always been at war with Sartar"?
  6. If you really want a giant robot, maybe something can be woken from the ruins of the Clanking City?
  7. Basically, becoming a black belt - it doesn't mean you're amazing, it just means that you achieved a reasonable standard of competence and can be trusted with some stuff you couldn't before. (Making Nysalorean Illumination the equivalent of McDojos, churning them out as quickly as possible with limited quality control?)
  8. As described in GT, it's a Sky World heroquest that has some similarities to the Sky part of t11L heroquest.
  9. Beyond what’s already been mentioned: The Hydra. ”East Isles Cthulhu” (Giant Walkatapus). Giant gorp, like the one in Slimestone (it has SIZ 10000). So, so many sea monsters (especially check out Strangers in Prax).
  10. This is some Dara Happan myth, then? In the Orlanthi version, the Birth of Umath is the separation of Earth and Sky, though? Of course, Kallyr has every opportunity to pick up on more Sky-centric myths...
  11. ”Umath was a Sky entity” I’m not sure I followed that... wouldn’t he be Air, not Sky?
  12. I agree with this. By the way, have you noticed that Woad has a unique, discriminating Countermagic effect that only stops the bad spells?
  13. There’s this long thread about countering Steal Breath - Berserker is a hard counter... 🙂
  14. ”Deploy All Monsters!” And I mean, the Lunars already bring their bat...
  15. Huh, interesting! I always thought it was just something Polar Bear related, and they’re not famous for that.
  16. Or they may have to sleep all winter! 🙂
  17. That thing needs to be brought to Caladraland and tossed in a volcano, and even then I wouldn’t be certain! 🙂
  18. Local RPG legend Anders Blixt, who will be lead designer on the Swedish RQ edition, recently made a BRP game (using a D20 instead of D100, which seems strongly recommended when calculating a success delta) that’s based on this design pattern throughout. It’s a really smooth and fast BRP design, and feels very modern throughout. Definitely recommended as an example of what you can do with the basic idea. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/m/product/303046
  19. This rule works absolutely gorgeously in Pendragon. RQ isn’t very good at opposed rolls, since Success vs. Success is a very common outcome that doesn’t really resolve. Success delta is better. Roll under but highest is sublime.
  20. Harrek doesn’t seem to be all that interested in smarts when he raids, perhaps because he doesn’t need to be. The attack on Holy Country in the comic is depicted as a frontal assault on the military might of the HC and one of the top ten or so magical persons of Genertela, and only works out because Harrek is personally unstoppable.
  21. With Harrek gone, that’s a foregone conclusion anyway - who do they have who can go up against Jar-eel now? And I can see a lot of interesting plot lines to having a traditionalist power centre (with Vingkotling aspirations) alongside Argrath’s radical one.
  22. One important thing here - if The City of Wonders doesn’t get looted, then King Broyan will be in a very strong position (doubly so for getting Harrek’s help and then not having to pay the price). Much will turn on him now, and there will be a big, more traditionalist faction, in play.
  23. One less obvious benefit of Berserker is that you're all but immune to drowning. Drowning happens due to failed CON rolls (eventually a mere CON x1), and the berserker has a fixed 95% to succeed at any CON roll.
