  1. I am not so sure of this "left-over" concept with trolls, given they can eat anything. Garbage is more an open-air larder that attracts insect snacks. So bartering for beetle-shells might be more expensive, as Argan Argar's people are canny enough the realize the utility of them as dishes, storage devices, hats, coracles, etc.
  2. The ritual is more about transforming one's soul into a troll spirit, as visual appearance is secondary to Darksense... at least as I understand it. It's still gruesome and more often than not it fails and there's a feast instead...
  3. When you are hero forming, you are the god. There is no difference.
  4. Prax and Pavis is a good choice if you don't want to worry about Heortling clan dynamics right away.
  5. Anyone who thinks Heortling women are easy pickin's is a fool. (Not disagreeing with the idea that chauvinists might behave that way... but...)
  6. I may have to make a parody cover for "RuneQwest" where everyone is a duck.
  7. It would be neat if a future Lunar book could have the opposition advancing toward the viewer too - implicitly facing this very scene.
  8. The mythic quality of Glorantha's physics is the best reason to shut down "realism" experts. I love it. But I write poetry for fun, so there you are. The bridges of Kralorela kind of remind me of the roads of New Orleans...
  9. I would say that everyone needs a deep breath of Wind, but Glorantha brings out the Lunatic in everyone who loves it... But I have a Harmony rune if anyone needs to borrow it.
  10. Well, my current draft is more the latter, but I do have a sketch of fencing rules worked out. Perhaps I will (a la Trail) include notes for a "Purist" versus a "Swashbuckling" approach. Swords will still be useless against a Dark Young, I'm afraid...

  12. I've always found it interesting that at one point Argrath allies with Hwarin Dalthippa... I could be mistaken, but wasn't Hon-eel primarily interested in being a maize goddess rather than an agent of the Empire...? when one is actually apotheosized, of course, as long as the correct actions and sacrifices are made, usually you impart your blessing.

I have an unfinished manuscript of 17th century Paris (detailed at length) and notes on the Mythos - i.e., the Cultes des Ghoules, Borellius, Averoigne, the Affair of the Poisons (and the Three Musketeers) I had in my files. I'm planning on finishing it up for the Repository. (I do have the new Reign of Terror book, of course) Some questions: Does this spark any interest? Also if you want to share any useful ideas or suggestions, and are content with a thank you in the pdf, feel free to message me or post here...

    Keno Hill

    There is a place in the maps of the God-time in the Glorantha Sourcebook south of Kero Fin in the Earth tribe's region called Keno Hill, apparently a ziggurat. I can't find any other references to it. Any ideas? I suspect it is connected with Nochet, as it seems to be identical with Kodig's Palace in later maps. However Ernalda's Palace is different, and it looks like the Grandmothers localized a fair bit of more far-flung locations into Esrolia for purposes of storytelling/magical geography. In the Greater Darkness/Age of Chaos it is unnamed but still present and between the Unity Battle and Kero Fin.

Interesting; that means that among the Imtherians (what's the proper adjective here?) the principal Lightbringer is associated with cats, and among the Heortlings, the same thing is true, though the identity of the leader is different. There is fire inside Yinkin, of course, to make the gleaming eyes (and reflect that cats run warmer than we do) - even though the Bad Dogs stole much of it. Of course, Kero Fin, his mother, corresponds to Hearthmother, more or less (Orlanth's last hearth was atop her), and cats love hearths. Elmal was of course Orlanth's hearth-keeper. All these parallels are of course only partly coincidence. I think that when Orlanth encountered Yelmalio/Antirius at the Hill of Gold, he was also changed, like his foe/now friend. He certainly matured into a more responsible chieftain. Just as a part of Orlantio went with Lagavar/Lightfore afterwards and aided him during the Quest. You also make Orak (Zorak Zoran, the Hellwind) the brother of Orlanth, and I am inclined to think [Z]orak / Zolan Zubar was in fact associated with the "Wind from Below" and might be the son of Umath and Subere (I also think he was also/once a bear god, but that's a different matter).
  18. You know, Orlantio reminds me a little of Orlanth's little brother, Yinkin - both Orlanth and Yinkin partake of Niskis the Lover, after all. You don't mention an animal aspect like Yurmalio's fox-guise but cat-god and fox-god kinda go together, in a sort of fairy-tale-ish way.
  19. So Yurmalio is a blend of Yelmalio and Eurmal, eh? Eurmal is ultimately the traitor; he helped bring back the Sun but also let go of the Net when Entropy was consumed by Grandmother Spider, so that not all of chaos was eaten. & of course Yelmalio is himself especially close to Nysalor. I've always felt - viz my hallucinations on the Light/Life-bringers' Quest in other posts - that Eurmal was Yelmalio/Elmal's Other (steadfast fire and fire stealer, loyal to death and disloyal forever, both strangers taken in by Orlanth the hospitable), anyway. I suspect that might be a Orlantio secret. And Eurmal is my fox-god too!
  20. There is also the matter than when a hero within Time enters the God Time they actually are present. It isn't a hallucination: Harmast is there, eating at the board below Orlanth. A part of Harmast is now eternally a part of Orlanth's band. Thus any hero that entered the God-Time and made a mark - as soltakss mentions above - can now be sought there as well as within Time, if they are still extant there. Also, the dead go to the God-Time, in as much as the Underworld overlaps with both worlds and the highest and lowest fates of the deceased are clearly linked to the homes of deities and great spirits... Kyger Litor and the Gods at Castle Blue (for example) are always of the "God-time" so when the compromise is broken in that moment that moment itself can be said to enter into the God-time... Otherwise the wounding of KL would have had no effect and the LG's victory would not have been complete. Of course this means that by following the path of the god one can find your way into Historic moments, if the God somehow was there - chiefly through the Compromise being breached. Or this is my notion of it anyway.

I'm been taking notes for a planned campaign with my group this summer, tentatively called "Refugee Quest", in which some surviving Maboder escape the Telmori and Jonas Wulf to reach Hendrikiland (where my daughter's game is taking place). It would start in 1605-7. It combines the community-based RPing of the standard clan game with desperation and exploration. The old Book of the Red Cow (precursor to the canon Red Cow campaign) is of course very useful for filling in the Split Waters clan, and there are some snippets about the Black Oak clan in "The Road of Kings". I think they're Axe Orlanthi with some Old Hendriki influence. Now the Maboder are noted as a matrilineal Triatry. They were ruled by queens until 1601. Going over the history in The Coming Storm, they were seemingly primarily derived from the Brustings and two clans of the Torkani - the Godori and the Lissendings, who were harried to near extinction by the Telmori in the 1460s. The BotRC writeup of the Split Waters clan states they split off from the Volsaxi, and I'm inclined to link them and to a lesser extent the Black Oak to Esrolian influence among the Hendriki via wives from the Adjusted Lands. I'd also connect them to the Earth clans who later formed the Curtali in the vicinity of the Dreven River. The Six Stones clan have a male chieftain mentioned and an exogamous marriage in the book (tCS), so I'd guess they and their Brusting ancestors were not as Earth and Darkness aligned as the others. They also have horses, and all three grow grain rather than raise many cattle. I take the Torkani as including originally Kitori clans, and they clearly played a role in the foundation of the new tribe, though the Maboder don't worship Argan Argar or the Dark Woman, favoring Ernalda and even Aldrya. The basic notion is that some of the surviving families and lone stragglers fled Sartar rather than be enslaved by the Wulflanders. Prax is about to be invaded by Sor-Eel (1608) - most likely via the Pavis Road outside Stonegate - and may have even camped in Wulfsland - so it's a bad choice, while the clans' distant ancestry among the Hendriki and the Kitori (!) offers them better chance at succor than the hostile Quivini, who blame the Maboder for not mustering in 1602. Some slaves might have gone with the Lunars to Prax, so there's an opportunity to look for kin there (and run all the old Prax scenarios) after the oldsters and children are safe in Volsaxar. Any Comments / Suggestions ? Anything I've overlooked?
