  1. When I made the first draft of the auction item list I did indeed start from my master collector's list of everything Chaosium has published going back to 1975. That master list also includes some notes on things that were cancelled because people occasionally ask about them, especially if those items were advertised as in the works, or were sometimes assigned a product number. I went through and bolded the items that we were actually going to auction and didn't delete many items from the master list. I thought stating clearly and simply that only the items in bold were going to be auctioned was sufficient. Unfortunately, that message seems to have caused confusion. Since getting that feedback, I have eliminated all the items not being auctioned from the updated auction catalog that will be available soon. The full catalog has pictures of each item. I have included the first few pages of the catalog below, which has just a list of the items actually in the auction before the picture pages. There is one other reason of note for why I included a more complete master list than just will be auctioned. We get asked during the auction about different editions or printings of items that had multiple editions or printings. More specifically, how can you tell the differences between them. The complete master list helps to do that. Some people even just like reading the list and learning about cancelled projects. I certainly do. 2023 Auction Catalog-p1.pdf2023 Auction Catalog-p2.pdf2023 Auction Catalog-p3.pdf
  2. Upcoming Cults of Glorantha publications A few answers: When I say "10 volumes" I mean 10 individual hardcover books. Volume = Book. The first 4 books are Mythology, Prosopaedia, Lightbringers, and Earth. Each book is 144-168 pages in length. Those books are off to the printers soon. We have different teams doing each product line so CoC releases don't slow down RQ releases, or Rivers of London releases, or Pendragon releases. While the art and layout team is working on Book X, the writing and editing teams are working on Book Y. All the cults books are written and edited. Each book goes through a final proofread after layout is done. We are still waiting on some of the art for the remaining 6 cults books The GM book and the Card Set are also top priorities.
  3. 2023 will be a big year for Pendragon, as per my last response a few mins ago.
  4. The Pendragon 6E items are not going to be Kickstarted. We don't Kickstart regular RPG launches, just special projects like Classic items (CoC and RQ) or boardgames, mainly because we are unsure how many to print. Pendragon will start going on sale later this year, starting with the Starter Set, followed by the 6E rulebook, GM's Guide, and Noble's Book.
  5. Yes, the book is on its way to our warehouses, and will be for sale soon. Unfortunately, it will be quite some time before that book will be available in Canada. As always, I strongly advise caution when it comes to pre-ordering any of our books from an online store. There is no guarantee when they will actually get the book to sell, and it is very possible, and in some cases very likely, that it will be available for purchase from other stores (especially chaosium.com) at an earlier time.
  6. The first SoloQuest book reprinted by GW was a slightly edited version that closed some plot problems via changing some of the "go to X" numbers.
  7. I was being lazy when I typed "$26 value". No such box says just that. The first two state "Everything needed to play! A $26 value".
  8. The cover images of most of those products can be found on page 120 in the MIG3. The Snakepipe Hollow cover is on page 12. A 2" boxed set with the "Everything needed to play! $26 value" logo box with the red mono rulebook inside it is not rare in the sense of being more valuable.
  9. We would be happy to license a set of CoC minis. Unfortunately, we have not been approached by any companies that want to do them under license, other than Petersen Games, as mentioned by Nick.
  10. While the product line has not been formally cancelled, no supplements for it are in the works. Jon and Rob have moved on to other projects.
  11. This isn't somewhat that Chaosium could EASILY do, that's for sure. We would have to get permission from a LOT of authors and artists. Cool as such a project would be, it isn't something in the works, nor is it likely to be in the works.
  12. Last call for further corrections and such. We'll be sending the files to the printer in about two weeks.
  13. PDF and Print Releases We intend to release the print and PDF versions at the same time. I kindly ask that you not use the phrase "pre-order". Buying a PDF first means you get a discount on the printed book if you later decide to buy the printed book, but that is not the same as pre-ordering a printed book. Buying a PDF does not obligate you to buy the printed book later, nor does it obligate us to eventually produce a printed book for you to buy. Chaosium hasn't done pre-order for at least 7 years, not including kickstarter related things, of course. Chaosium did a fairly detailed analysis on releasing the PDF first, followed by selling the printed version later (with PDF discount coupon). Please note, if your primary or main desire is to get the material (albeit in PDF) as quickly as possible, then there really is no debate about preferring PDF first. We get that, and respect that desire. Before I get into some of the results of our research, please be assured that we will still offer free PDFs with printed books purchased directly from Chaosium (plus Bits & Mortar). That also goes for purchasing a PDF first and then wanting to buy the printed book later. You will still get a discount coupon. Here are some things we concluded or discovered during our look into "PDF first" or "PDF and Print at the same time": PDF first currently relies on crowdsourced editing. While that sounds nifty to some, it actually pointed out that we shouldn't be relying on such volunteer efforts to get us a fully edited/correct final book. That's not what professional publishers do. Our development process must produce books that are edited completely. It showed we need more professional editing. In no way should this be seen as a derogatory comment about all of the people who volunteer to help with crowdsourced edits, or the quality of what they do. We really appreciate all the volunteers. PDF first forces us to announce and market the book twice (PDF release and then printed book release), which makes each announcement have less impact as opposed to having a larger single campaign. The printed book needs to make the biggest splash when announced. PDF first means creating and processing a lot of PDF discount coupons, including combo coupons, when the printed book is sold. This is more time consuming than you think. PDF first means two versions of the "final" PDF are out in circulation, plus the inevitable desire to know specifically what the differences are, which is time consuming to explain and detail. Some even worry that all of the changes made might not make it into the printed version. PDF first also raised questions about its effect on total sales. Does getting the PDF early make someone more OR less likely to buy the printed book later? So what does all that mean? It means we are seeing how things go with doing the next new releases as "PDF and Printed book at the same time". We've done plenty of "PDF first" releases to know what those are like. Once we have enough of both approaches to more fully compare, we'll see what we do going forward.
  14. We have fully refunded every unshipped Canadian order.
  15. Thank you for the encouragement and kind words, Dom. I really appreciate it.
  16. As you know, Greg had a fiercely independent streak in him. When he did the Lives of Sedenya booklet he was very much in the most independently free period of his life. He told me that he printed them down at the corner local copy shop before he hopped on the plane for the con. There was no corporate production of that book. It was just Greg being Greg because he was Greg. As usual, he rolled against his natural 18 Charisma and the rest is poetic storytelling.
  17. While that is possible, it is largely up to the original authors of the material. Chaosium and/or Moon Design doesn't own any of the unpublished RQ manuscripts from the "What Never Was" sections. I have been given printed copies of a few of the manuscripts, but that isn't the same as owning the publishing rights. Also, I am in contact with a few of the authors of various unpublished manuscripts or long out-of-print things. No promises. No news at this time.
  18. Thank you, Brian. I shall add that list of fanzine articles to my "track down" list.
  19. Now that the book is for sale as a PDF on Chaosium.com, I have no doubt I have missed various items, made a few typos, or just plain got something factually wrong. As people spot things I will include them on the list of corrections in this initial post, as applicable. All I ask is for this to be a kind and gentle discussion. The book has not gone to the printers yet, so we have some time to fix things for an updated PDF as well as the printed book. Please include the page number with anything you report. I will delete reported items as I correct them, so if your post gets deleted it is because I have dealt with it. Please read this initial post to see what has already been reported. 20. Just to limit some recent confusion: Chaosium intends to update the current version of the RQG rulebook (second printing) with additional corrections, changes, and similar. The Well of Daliath is one such source for the additional changes we are going to be making beyond what was already done for the second printing. The second printing is called version 1.02, so you could probably call this "in the works" third version 1.03 or similar.
  21. The BGB in stock in the US was printed by Lightning Source as POD.
  22. We have been faithfully recording omissions, errors, typos, poor wording, conflicting info, and similar in the core rulebook. That would be the primary focus of the revisions to the text. It would basically be a general cleanup with some fine tuning.
