MOB
Although Rick is the Chaosium collector par excellence, when sorting through the company archives last weekend getting ready for the coming Chaosium Con auction, he came across a RuneQuest item he'd never seen before... https://www.chaosium.com/blogout-of-the-suitcase-38-what-happened-to-runequest-an-unexpected-find-in-the-chaosium-vaults/ Edited January 31, 2023 by MOB
DreadDomain
It's the first time I see this leaflet. It is very informative and fun to read mainly because it seems to hit all the broad reasons I always preferred RQ3 over RQ2 (but also highlights stuff I preferred in RQ2 over RQ3).
g33k
On 11/4/2022 at 9:53 PM, Mark Morrison said: This is a very late post on a question of yore: Penny used the Stormbringer (or Elric) rules to run a campaign set in the Castle of Eyes while she was exploring the plot and setting for the book, as a way of finding her way through the castle. The players loved it, particularly her friend who had never roleplayed before but absolutely loved being utterly outrageous and whaling away with a greatsword. I cannot recall at what point we decided not to proceed with the RPG setting. Best, Mark This is an amazing bit of lore; TYVM for sharing it here! MOB
In his newest 'Out of the Suitcase' post, @Rick Meints discusses how Chaosium made errata available in its early days, back when "cut and paste" literally meant with scissors and glue... https://www.chaosium.com/blogout-of-the-suitcase-39-errata-a-lesson-on-how-change-can-be-difficult/
MOB
In his newest 'Out of the Suitcase' post, Chaosium president Rick Meints talks about Games Workshop's ill-starred attempt to release an electronic collection of the first 10 years of its White Dwarf magazine (1977-1987). All 90 issues were scanned in, cleaned up, and made electronically searchable. But unfortunately GW then realised they didn't own the rights to many of the articles in those long out-of-print issues, and the project was killed. But not before some advance marketing copies leaked out into the wild... https://www.chaosium.com/blogout-of-the-suitcase-40-what-never-was-mostly Edited March 5, 2023 by MOB

But not before some advance marketing copies leaked out into the wild... @Rick Meints I bought mine second-hand in a Oxfam shop ironically in Hammersmith near the original Games Workshop shop (in the UK 2007ish). It was tucked in with DVDs and cost £1.50. IIRC it had a barcode where the Export only section was. I the first thing I did was to turn it into an ISO image and put the disc somewhere safe... I remember opening it up and finding this menu... that was just a link to the GW website 😞 This reply from GW may be of interest to some: https://www.dragonsfoot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=11657&start=30 Edited March 5, 2023 by David Scott 1 Quote ----- Search the Glorantha Resource Site: https://wellofdaliath.chaosium.com. MOB
Rick Meints' newest 'Out of the Suitcase' post talks about Origins '78, which took place Ann Arbor, in his home town. Alas, 12 year old Rick had no clue about the convention, which saw the debut of RuneQuest, the first RPG to be published by The Chaosium, a quirky 3 person company from the Bay Area. https://www.chaosium.com/blogout-of-the-suitcase-41-if-12-year-old-me-would-have-known

MOB
Up until last Sunday, Chaosium collector extraordinaire Rick Meints thought he knew everything there was to know about the modest line of RuneQuest minies released by Martian Metals in the 1980s.
