Erol of Backford
So in 1621 there is an Uz Swarm. Trolls in Guhan conduct a ceremony that has been held for generations and a huge caravan moves from Ralios to Dragon Pass. The Chain of Argan Argar aids this action. Is the Chain a physical item or is it a traders guild of sorts? Only when the troll insect caravans began moving did the Chain reveal itself. I imagine the Kitori would like to get involved... The Chain is supposedly in the darkest part of the ghetto in Tiskos wherein cloaked night visitors who are deemed Kajalki-friends and members of major guild frequent? What is going on there? When troll caravans visit there are rumors of a “chain gang” takeover run wild... and of Black Darts? TT 02 p.16 & GtG p.94, 379, 382.
John Biles
The Chain probably has all the slaves they're hauling attached to it.
Jape_Vicho
I imagine it's one of the many underground arkati-stygian sects in ralios. They seem to work closely with the trolls, and worship Argan Argar. Maybe they claim Argan Argar is the father of Arkat? Or holds the secrets to bring him back? They will probably support the Troll Arkat that emerges as one of the 5 Arkats, and that spells trouble for a lot of people.

Guide p.382, the Duke of Naskorion: The Duke is a known member of the Argan Argar Chain, and actively makes arrangements for the great insect caravans to cross between Halikiv and Guhan. 9 hours ago, Erol of Backford said: imagine the Kitori would like to get involved... They are very remote to the entire event (i.e. nowhere near the route). But they might be called upon to help deliver other goods or foodstuffs to Dagori Inkarth from the Shadow Plateau.
Joerg
According to one of Sandy Petersen's "Forgotten Secrets of Glorantha" panels at Kraken, there is an actual iron chain of massive dimensions somewhere beneath the surface of Safelster, creating a no-magic zone in its immediate vicinity. This is part of some Mostali project. That is not the Argan Argar chain, and I doubt there is a physical item used by the Argan Argari. This is a metaphorical chain with each member a link in the greater total. 4 Quote Telling how it is excessive verbis
ZedAlpha
If you really want to be spicy, you could always have it be both. It's not like various species haven't stolen each others' big magical artifacts to make them part of their own mythologies before, and gives the Trolls and Dwarves another reason to start fighting each other during this big important magical working. The chain could be a network of merchants' guilds, arrayed along the path of this big, underground iron chain that kills magic. Maybe the Uz are trying to unearth it so they can destroy it, given that iron is anti-Troll metal? Don't know if that'd actually work though, just spitballing. Snugz
Yeah Duke Kimiv surely gets involved, and is good odds to become Arkat Kingtroll; supposedly in 1624 he weds a troll-wife then in 1625 he becomes a troll. So this is part of his hero-journey; among others'. Grodnin would be a surefire stop for the Swarm en route eastwards from Guhan; trolls/AA cultists visiting its Black Stone. Probably there's some interesting opposition from anti-trollers like Aruzban Ironarm of Delela (the Swarm likely passes thru there) and whoever wields the "legendary magical iron sword Trollbiter" from Istakax; and Sun Dome Temple, etc. etc. As Arkat Kingtroll rises, so may the power of Retter the Stalker.

If he were Arkat maybe he'd have been born as a mistress race troll? GtG p.382 Kimiv, Duke of Naskorion: Kimiv is one of three people attempting to revive Arkat’s ancient empire. He has been successful in seeking alliance with the trolls of Halikiv, and recently financed the construction of Zorakarkat, a temple-fort dedicated to the Chaos-killer. The Duke is a member of the Argan Argar Chain and it would seem he arranges their passage between Halikiv and Guhan. Also wondering would your typical Stygian want to kill Aeolians or would they be more neutral towards them? Safelstran is a Theyalan language with many western elements (and quite likely a lot of dialects based on the city states). Both Vesmonstran and the East Wilds speak Theyalan dialects without much if any Western elements. with Hsunchen a second influence in the East Wilds. Most Arkati ("Stygians") in Ralios are located in Safelster (or Guhan, if you count troll Arkati), rather few in Vesmonstran or the East Wilds. Delela is home of Aruzban Ironarm, an Orlanthi hero who is the opposite of a troll friend, even though he likes to hug them. That's not the place for Stygians to thrive. So the Sun Dome Temple helped against the trolls just like the Emali in Sartar. Located near the border with Karia, it served Retter against the trolls. Conveniently there are some Yelorna-worshiping unicorn riders there as well who are also associated with the temple.
