  1. This sounds great. I really look forward to how the martial arts are modelled. Whilst the background does sound very interesting (especially as a fan of the current Immortal Iron Fist comic book, as well as the Western resurgance in sowing mystical martial arts movies that we saw from the success of Crouching Tiger onwards), I have to admit that the martial arts section will be of the greatest interest to me. Good luck guys. :thumb:
  2. Just a thought and suggestion, but with an increasing number of electronically and print published monographs, and with many authors active on the board, what about a subforum that collects threads relating to these alone, which would allow (stickied?) 'Questions for...' threads, as well as (non-stickied) designer's notes threads and upcoming info etc to kept together conveniently?
  3. You have my sympathies. Good luck that Classic Fantasy sticks... I had a similar problem but to a much lesser extent. I regard myself as well-versed in the area I am writing about (super-heroes) yet I managed to conceive a significant NPC with the name and similar powers to an existing character. Now I had not read this published character yet, but when checking through some comic books I came across the fact and was a tad annoyed. I just hope I have corrected everything before completing the manuscript...
  4. Sounds like a nice little setting adding to the breadth of what is available. I'll pick up a copy when available in print form. :thumb:
  5. Still, that Chaosium are supplying art and layout is great news.
  6. So will this still be a monograph or is it getting bumped to 'full' product so to speak? Either way, great news. Congratulations.
  7. Glad to hear the writing is essentially done. Good luck with art and layout and hopefully you don't have any more major changes to make.
  8. Interesting idea - I am sorry to be so late in responding. Are you still thinking about this? If this kind of thing were to work you are looking at dividing to monograph flat fee so much that the expense may very not be worth it for any contributor. that said - putting cost aside - what about a linked ste of settings? The reason I suggest this is that for it feel worthwhile for a consumer they need to feel they can get maximum value out of all material in there.
  9. How are things proceeding, Tywyll? Well, I hope.
  10. Good to hear. I'll be in for a PoD version if you still make that available. Do you hope to carry on past #2?
  11. Nick - are you still aiming to publish more Uncounted Worlds?
  12. Jason has (I believe) stated that the 1% version is the correct one. link
  13. Not a comic book - a brand new BRP monograph: Agents of the Crown
  14. caeman - have you seen Scott Pyle's new monograph: Agents of the Crown? It sounds perfect for your campaign.
  15. Did you get around to trying your system out?
  16. Ordered. I didn't know Scott Pyle (Superfigs/Supersystem) was working on a monograph until I checked his blog today.
  17. I don't because it has no intrinsic guarantee of success and places emphasis on good will rather than simple market forces. Hence I'll give Dustin the benefit of the doubt in this case.
  18. I think that is a bit of an assumption there about Chaosium's currnet working. As other posters have suggested I imagine Dustin was talking honestly about how the decision to go to print for products initially available as PDF - that sales drive the decision. I don't think (my own assumption here, of course ) that they have developed a retail strategy based on selling two copies of a given product to any or all customers.
  19. I am planning to attend on Saturday morning. Is anyone else from the board going to attend?
  20. I can't see Roger stocking the monographs, although possibly any official supplements may make it.
  21. Ultimately Chaoisum is a business and they need to take reasonable decisions. On that basis I can't fault them in this regard - the decision is entirely understandable. As an example I may not like it, but that is my problem ultimately as a consumer - there is a range of products out there (PDF), I simply choose to avoid the format. I feel any sense of discomfort over the comment comes from the sense of community around the company and products, although I may be wrong.
  22. I see the issue as two-fold: 1. If Chaosium see themselves as a publisher rather than developers, arguably outsourcing to a company like Lulu is contrary to that. 2. There is a certain logic inherent in the position - using PDF sales to determine potential demand for a print book makes some sense, however I don't agree that buyers should be expected to buy one format to have the ability or option to buy in a preferred alternative format. So whilst I can see their reasoning, I do object, not angrily, but on principle. Maybe they need to modify the business: become games developers (outsourcing some publishing) and concentrating on only publishing higher-volume sales products like CoC and the related fiction.
