  1. The new RuneQuest will have Glorantha strongly woven into it from start to finish. I'm not sure how to express that on some sort of scale. The best example I could give would be to look at how tightly woven in Glorantha is in the HeroQuest: Glorantha rulebook. I'm also not sure what you mean by "implemented". Examples will be things like the Saga of Rurik the Restless in RQ2 or Samastina's Saga in HeroQuest: Glorantha.
  2. Thank you to all who took part in the Kickstarter. Every now and then, although not very often, we are reminded of what is truly important. We saw the tribe in action, heroquesting to achieve great things, all for the benefit of the community. It was an amazing 24 days of nostalgia, rebirth and looking towards the future; time well spent with old friends, while making new friends along the way. That's what I will always remember. In the end, it's always about the people.
  3. While it's not too difficult to convert the lower skill levels of HeroQuest to RQ (any version), once you get above a single mastery it becomes increasingly difficult. For example, an HQ skill of 10 could be seen as 50%, but what would you convert 2W5 to for RQ? Also, it is very hard to know what to assign to the beloved STR, CON, SIZ, DEX, characteristics, most, if not all of which may not really be detailed at all in HeroQuest, depending on how the character was written up. Unless "conversion" means "rolling the dice from scratch" those would almost certainly not be convertible.
  4. The problem with the cover laminate is mainly because the Gen Con copies were made via Print on Demand. The rerelease will not be done like that.
  5. It is not being rewritten, but we have been debating on recommissioning some of the art and redoing the layout. Most feedback received was contents = good, layout and art, not so good. Dark Ages is being reorganized and is having new layout and artwork done. Chaosium is very focused on publishing books with writing, editing, art and layout that wow people, like the new Petersen Guide to Lovecraftian Horrors. Unfortunately, we can't fix every title overnight with the limited time and budgets we have.
  6. Please bring up the experience system suggestion over on the RuneQuest forum.
  7. The top backers are getting a special "thank you" reward for their generous patronage. That backer level isn't just about the value of each specific item, it's about their belief in the project and their support of what we are trying to do. The chart below is not official just yet, as we are making sure it has no typos or mistakes. If you spot any, please let me know.
  8. Very few things, if anything, are a "one run and done" situation. If it is in sufficient enough demand, we will take the prudent business approach and keep selling it. Maybe not at the same price, or in the same format, but technology is such that hardly anything has to go out of print any more. High enough volume books, which are what we will be focusing on, will go through distribution and be available in game stores. If enough stores want to stock it, we will provide it. As for the Gloranthan Sourcebook, it is a 2016 product. Second half of 2016 product.
  9. I can't help but notice that we are discussing a RuneQuest mechanic under a BRP topic. That's the beauty of the underlying mechanics. RQ was where it started, and even though the "Magic Book" is a BRP title this a RuneQuest book, and a RuneQuest discussion. I say that with all respect.
  10. The Glorantha Sourcebook, or GSB as we often call it, has Jeff Richard as its main author. It is a book about Glorantha that is systemless. It is heavy on myths and stories. It is designed for newcomers, as an entry point to roleplaying in Glorantha. It was created originally for the 13th Age in Glorantha Kickstarter. Jeff can comment on how close it is to completion, but it is fairly close to being done. It is targeted to be 128 pages in length. It is definitely not to be confused with the Guide to Glorantha. It is also not just a cut down version the Guide. If you looked up the 13th Age in Glorantha Kickstarter there is more information as to the contents and purpose of this book.
  11. The Magic Book is basically the RuneQuest 3rd edition magic book with anything Gloranthan removed or made generic. A lot of campaigns basically didn't follow that exact rule (mine didn't). We just played it where you got them back if you were taking a substantial break, and were close enough to a temple to get to one. I suppose it all depends on how you want to play it. I always thought that one day per point was a bit much, since we had rune priests with 10-15 points of re-usable rune spells. Comparatively, in 2nd Edition D&D the rule to relearn spells was 15 minutes per point of spell. A 15th level Magic User would have 28 points of spells. Assuming an 8 hour day, they could "read up" on all their spells in a single day.
  12. The RQ6 "Glorantha" project is progressing. We have it as a 2016 release, most likely later in the year. Lots of writing and editing is underway.
  13. Unfortunately, I am fairly sure that some place names have no clever story behind them. Some names got created out of thin air just to help fill the map. Some have a back story, like Nochet, as stated above. Somebody asked Greg if the big coastal city had a name and Greg did reply "Not yet", which the listener heard a little differently, and thus wrote down "Nochet". For every Corflu (named after "white-out", aka "tippex", aka "correction fluid", some names don't have a big story, like "Barbarian Town". The "what's the story behind the name" question, mainly just applies to the two page William Church map published in the RuneQuest 2 rulebook. Because I need a break from the RQ Classic Kickstarter, here's a rundown of some place names I know the story behind: Cam's Well: Named after Greg's first wife, Cam. Day's Rest: named after Gene Day, artist Dunstop: named after Bill Dunn, playtester Hender's Ruins: named after Steve Henderson, RQ1 author. Pimper's Block: named after Jeff Pimper, All the World's Monsters author, and play tester. Bigglestone: named after Clint Bigglestone, RQ1 author/playtester. Tada's High Tumulus: named after Tadashi Ehara, early Chaosium employee. Swenstown: names after Steve Swenston Rich Post: named after Richard Barnhart, play tester Hendrikei: named after Hendrik Pfeiffer Wilm's Church: named after William Church, artist Duck Point: compromise for Duckburg request Jonstown: named after John Sapienza, play tester, character sheet designer Tourney Altar: named after one of the Turney brothers, authors.
  14. The campaign ends on Dec. 21st.
  15. One thing I know that will be extremely unlikely is that none of the reprinted materials like Questworld, Pavis, Big Rubble, etc. will be in a box. Boxes are costly, easy to damage, and harder to ship. They look really cool, but they are rather impractical unless you want to pay a lot more or have very very large print runs. Questworld could be done as three separate books sold as a bundle, but they would probably be more expensive than as a single book. It's always more expensive to print three 48 page books than it is to print one 144 page book. Regardless, a larger folded map can be tucked into the back of the book.
  16. Dunstop is named after Bill Dunn, a player in Greg's original RQ campaign. Pimper's Block is named after Jeff Pimper, who was an early RQ player and author of All the World's Monsters.
  17. I was thinking that Questworld would do quite well as a single hardcover book.
  18. Praxian? As in Strangers in Prax, River of Cradles, and Shadows on the Borderlands? There is a very good chance that they will get reprinted, but not soon. They may get updated for the Gloranthan based RuneQuest we are working on. Chaosium's focus has to be on the current product lines. To save some time, let me state this. Chaosium intends to get as much older stuff available again as long as we have the rights to do so. We have the rights for all RuneQuest 1 and 2 products that were published by Chaosium. We have rights to all the Gloranthan RuneQuest Products produced by Avalon Hill, including the RQ3 rulebook. We have the rights to reprint WB&RM/Dragon Pass and also Nomad Gods. It's not a matter of desire because we have the desire, it's a matter of time and resources. If someone presented us with a professionally laid out PDF of any of those older titles, we'd have it done sooner, but those aren't as easy to recreate as you might think. Creating something like the Gloranthan Classic Griffin Mountain takes hundreds of hours. We'll get there with the back catalog.
  19. Even though I utterly loathe the phrase "pics or it didn't happen", I did want to show what has been done. Below is a screen shot of the GM side, which is two 11x17 panels. It will be on a light golden cardstock, probably.
  20. OCRing is a mixed blessing. Yes, we will be correcting errors. We have a much better proofreading team now. We can't reprint Pavis and Big Rubble as is currently anyway. It was done just before printers totally switched to electronic files, so it was done using film. That film is no longer around. We're not going to reprint some of the later volumes of the Classics until the current stock of books is exhausted. When they do get reprinted they will be updated first.
  21. Pavis and Big Rubble will be reprinted. I consider that an excellent question, and far from a silly one.
  22. I've just finished the GM screen that will be available for RuneQuest Classic. It's two 11"x17" double-sided panels, and somewhat similar to what the Judges Guild did for RQ back in the late 70's. The player handouts, which were originally an eight page (no page numbers) pullout section in the middle of the book (useful if you had the stapled rulebook) are now 20 pages in total.
  23. Based on ongoing requests, we are working on reprinting the Guide to Glorantha. It should be available early in 2016, and will have more regional shipping options available, not just shipping from the US.
