  1. Unless it's a part of their job.
  2. Trainers were an important part of the old Pavis campaign, and made for good roleplaying situations. And the skill could be an interesting addition to the RQG Apple Lane campaign, where you have your own militia.
  3. I added Teching skill to my RQ3 campaign, but no PC ever used it, so to simplify things I didn't add it to the RQG. Perhaps it's time to get it back.
  4. There are no rules saying that the trainer can't get trained by someone else during the same season. Such a great show!
  5. To whom do the wandering priests pay their 90% taxes to?

    Mockpork

Hah, it was Sir Scissor the troll Argan Argar merchant who made the complaint to an Issaries merchant in my campaign.

    Mockpork

Not if only a small amount was mixed in, and if it was spicy, but you could probably tell from a steak if the creature had only eaten leaves and grass or meat and grain.
  8. RQG p. 285: Wandering priests of Orlanth Adventurous maintain two-wheeled carts drawn by oxen that hold ritual equipment, and special spiral tents provide ritual secrecy. RQG p. 302: Wind Lords are the temporal leaders of the Orlanthi. I thought that the Clan Chiefs were Chief Priests and both the spiritual and temporal leaders of the Orlanthi. So what's the position of the Wind Lords? Do the wandering priests of Orlanth Adventurous and the Wind Lords work under the Tribal King who is also the High Priest, or under their Clan Chief? And are the wandering priests Rune Priests who get spells from the Adventurous subcult, or God-Talkers?
  9. Yeh, that's kinda how it worked in RQ3. But the cost is still a tad high. The 500L cost is for two seasons, so a trainer would earn 1250L a year, which is over twice the amount needed for petty king standard of living.
  10. I divided the price by 10 to make it less absurd.
  11. Who can train Characteristics? How many people they can train at once? And why does it cost 500L? Game balance?

    Item Prices

Some nominal prices were kept the same while income dropped, which means that some things have even absurd costs. Eg. a simple wooden self bow now costs more than a hunter makes in a year, while in the Middle Ages a bow would have cost a week's wage. And bowyery isn't some high tech, bows were made already during the Paleolithic Age.

    Item Prices

Those prices were in the GM's guide in the last edition, so we won't probably have the official prices before RQG's GM's guide is printed. Or the prices may have been removed because RQG's adventurers aren't supposed to be roaming murderhobos who eat trail rations, but instead locals, who just happen to have adventures, and can just take the needed foor from their own pantry. You could perhaps make it a tax, so that the miltiamembers' households have to make the rations, or use RQ3's 1/10L per day.
  14. If this is only one skill "Carpentry: Working wood to make buildings, boats, bridges, and furniture, including the ability to decorate wood." why shouldn't all one handed swords be one skill too?
  15. Has anyone ever made a similar map comparison with Genertela and Europe?
  16. Is the Ozarcas named after the Ozarks?
  17. Is there any info where and when those book rules will be published?
  18. Yeah, compared to older editions, RQG really punishes people trying to learn new knowledge skills. At least until the new rules for books, scrolls and songs are published. Basically you can read a text or something, and gain a skill increase. But how common these texts are, and what do they cost are still a mystery.
  19. In my FrankenQuest all the weapons in the same class, eg. 1H swords, use the same skill. And the weapon classes use the same rules as related languages, ie. you get half of your skill to all other classes. Melee weapon skills raise melee skills, and missile weapon skills raise missile weapon skills. I find this more realistic, and also at the end of the day it makes surprisingly little difference, since most characters keep on using the same weapons they started with.
  20. RQG, page 234: Personal honor is not a slippery issue, subject to interpretation. The difference between honorable action and dishonorable action is clear to everyone, no matter how they behave. The Dishonor table lists things that all humans in Dragon Pass agree are dishonorable actions for an average person. Performing these deeds diminishes honor. I've found it to be a very slippery issue and subject to much interpretation, and looks like that so have others.
  21. Characters lose honor from attacking unarmed foes. But most Gloranthans who aren't small children will carry knives or daggers as tools and eating utensils. Are they counted as unarmed? What about trolls and others who have bite attacks? Or people who know Disruption or other attacking spells?
  22. Do the variable Spirit Magic Spells have to be learned one point at a time? Say, if you have no Bladesharp, and want to learn Bladesharp 4, does it take four weeks or only one?
  23. Hah, I thought to ask other people first before starting pestering him.
