  1. Ohh. Issaries! His cult is on my list of ones to play.
  2. Ah, a mixed household! Makes sense. I bet it does. It's interesting what people bring to a game setting and how their world view makes things more or less interesting.
  3. Understood! Although, you can get BOTH your characters and call it an anniversary present!
  4. Our plan is to sell on DTRPG. We've done the whole webstore and carry stock and all that before and prefer not to again.
  5. Umm. I told you almost exactly this a couple of weeks ago as use for NPCs in a game. Sheesh, dude! Sleep on the couch tonight!!!
  6. If you want a family chart that revolves around non-combat, you look at what might have happened in any given year. Oh, this year there was a big battle nearby and big battles fuck mightily with nature. So, grandpa worked extra hard in the field, using what help he was given by the priestess to make sure his crop came in so people didn't starve. Grandma was there after the battle, clearing the field, coaxing life back into the earth where the fighters tried to end it with their stomping boots. And when designing and running games, you put emphasis on things other than physical combat. Our last 3 sessions, the trickiest part was trying to placate a pissed off chieftain while delivering gifts from the queen. Our characters made nice with the chieftain's daughter, told stories to the children, did not rise to the bait when baited. WAY more nerve-wrecking than the monsters we fought after. Because, monsters can kill you, sure, but a blood feud when the Lunars are desperate to jump in and put everyone down? Terrifying.
  7. Just ordered the proof copy of the POD product.
  8. Then you didn't really screw it up! Players having fun beats rule messes any time!
  9. Valley of Plenty has a new spirit tradition write-up, The Steadfast Circle. Included are three spirit society write-ups. I am biased cause I wrote them, but I find them fun and interesting.
  10. When we have sessions that will involve combat, @Shawn Carpenter will ask the players what they want out of their turn when the fighting can start. Especially those who go first. "OK, there are creepy monsters here. What do you want to accomplish on your turn? How are you going to do that?" Because, sometimes, a player wants to talk to the creepy monsters...didn't work. They attacked them anyway! But I tried. It does help trigger ideas that are not just Hulk Smash!
  11. Quick POD update. There was a minor issue with the print file that Dixie will be fixing this weekend. She was on vacation and has a day job. Sheesh! The nerve! :D (Isn't she amazing though? The book is so sweet!) Then it is back and off. After that it's wait for the pod proof. Once we're at the waiting for it step, we'll let you know!
  12. Hats are all one needs to BE clothed. A fine hat makes a person. So, def no hats for skyclad.
  13. BTW if you read the book or run the game and have any questions, feel free to ask me!
  14. The temple of Drogarsi in Dundealosford is a basically a tavern. LOL So, I say go for it. Performing artists are a special sort! I am enjoying the recaps. My money would be on leaving town too! Players have to explore!
  15. Here's 4 Wildling NPCs I put together. Their stats are the same as the Wildling PCs. I have provided no gender as I leave it up to the GM and players to decide on the gender makeup of the group and it makes no difference for the stats. If a PC wants one of the NPCs to be a potential love interest, set their gender accordingly and adjust their name if required. Have fun with them and use them if needed to round out the Wildlings or as NPCs to pop up as adversaries or allies. Name: Arvinga Bloodline: Bentorthenoring Ring Role: The Quiet One Keywords: Very perceptive, always watching everything. Rarely speaks. Look: A wide-eyed, tall child always wearing their light hair in a messy braid. Arvinga is tall for their age. They have always been taller, their mother commenting on them being a large baby. Neither of their parents are particularly noteworthy in size. Among the Wildlings, they rarely get a word in edgewise but when they do speak, the others, even Ula, tend to listen. They are the first to spot a bird, frog, or adult acting oddly. Name: Orlonil Bloodline: Odvarning Ring Role: The Deceptive One Keywords: A fast talker with unassuming features and an air of mischief about them. Even for a Wildling Look: There’s nothing remarkable about this child at all. Well-tanned, dark hair, and skinned knees look normal. Orlonil looks like the average child in Dundealosford. Until a closer examination shows a gleam in their eyes that can be unsettling. Their grandmother, with a wink and a nod after too much fermented mare’s milk, says there’s a bit of Eurmal in them. That being said, the Wildings trust them implicitly and they have never done them wrong. Name: Sarigsdal Bloodline: Keldoring Ring Role: The Confidante Keywords: Peace is easier to achieve with them around. Open ears and kind eyes turn no one away. Look: Born with red hair, they have a fierce set to their jaw that belies their gentle nature. Sarigsdal’s parents threaten every year to return to the range and leave the city behind. They assure the Wildlings this will not happen. If a secret needs keeping, they are the one to tell it to. Still, it is hard to deny their bloodline and when a fight arrives; they swing as hard as the next kid. Name: Uroxarios Bloodline: Ardantharning Ring Role: The Big One Keywords: Under their layer of fat, a weakness for sweets cannot be beat, they possess the muscle and heart of an older person. Look: Not tall, but round. They make precise movements, using their bulk to get through anyone not fast enough to move from their way. Uroxarios takes ribbing about their size good-naturedly. Most of the time. Should someone get carried away, they will go straight to Ula to devise a plan for payback. They say with pride they take after their mother, big in body and voice, and the first on the line when the clan needs a fighter. They aspire to be the same.
  16. It is entirely possible for us to give some NPC examples. Hara and Ula are already in the book (in the early bits everyone starts with the same child stats and NPCs can be raised as the PC is) and the game will run well enough with 3 Wildlings. There's a few things on my plate this morning, but give me a bit of time.
  17. When you can leave a review on the site over there, feel free to cut and paste this in! Seriously, though, thank you so much for the kind words. We're beyond thrilled with the reception and are working hard on the next book!
  18. I'll go through my notes today and find some tidbits to share.
  19. Our playtest game will wrap up tomorrow night! Our poor playtesters are being made to wait to get their copy. Once we finish the final scenario, we'll do a short wrap up to set things aside until Book 2 is ready to begin playtesting. Until then, we'll travel back into Sartar proper and jump forward back to 1618 and the Anmangarn clan. I'll do an actual play thread for that game since I won't be giving things away.
  20. Valley of Plenty for sale! Click the link if you are so inclined. POD will be available as soon as we receive our proof copy. Valley of Plenty is a campaign source book for Glorantha written for the QuestWorlds rule-system. It is completely compatible with HeroQuest: Glorantha and easily adaptable for use with RuneQuest: Glorantha. The lovingly detailed presentation of the Dundealos tribe’s culture and community is system agnostic. Valley of Plenty is the first book of The Jaldonkillers Saga, a grand campaign that follows the careers of a band of player characters through the destruction of their tribe, its reconstitution in exile, and the effort to reclaim its lost lands and glory. The saga begins in 1602 and stretches to the Dragonrise and beyond. It is intended as a vehicle to support the development of characters from childhood to Herodom in a fluid but consistent setting, in which players can experience adventures ranging from slice-of-life challenges to world-changing conflicts. This book details the adventures of a closely-knit clique of youngsters, the Wildlings, from their early childhood through their adulthood rites. Along the way, GMs and players learn about the culture and community that produced the Wildlings in a natural, organic progression. Neither the GM or their players are forced to drink lore from a firehose. Valley of Plenty features: Detailed description of the Elmal worshipping Dundealos tribe and the Horse Orlanthi Learn the a Non-Orlanthi Sartarite culture by beginning play as a Dundealos child Alternate rules for creating child characters Organic development of PC community and family relationships Adventures with escalating risks based on character age Elmal-oriented adulthood rites of the Dundealos Cult descriptions for Elmal, Redalda, and Drogarsi from a non-Orlanthi perspective New shamanic tradition write-up, including spirit societies New cult: Andred Extensive player handouts based on character age 7 scenarios and 6 additional scenario seeds Buckets and buckets of frogs! Potential triggers in Valley of Plenty include: The interlude charts refer to the deaths of parents and/or siblings. If this is problematic, replace those results with ones of your own. The Manhunt episode revolves around a young boy who is kidnapped to be sold into slave labor. Player characters could face this threat as well. Note that the boy and PCs are in no danger of becoming slaves, but the threat is there.
  21. And...in other news... https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/316797/Valley-of-Plenty The POD is not ready. Give it about a month with the speed of things. You CAN upgrade to a POD later if you order the PDF now. The PDF only is $24.95 and the POD/PDF will be $35.95.
  22. DTRPG does shipping from the US and the UK. I don't know what shipping is like from the UK to Australia. It may be worse than from the US? I'm leaving it to you to know better. Sorry. We will be offering a POD/PDF bundle. It is going to take about 3 weeks for the POD proof to reach us, assuming their staff give it a quick approval. We've experience with preparing print for DTRPG so don't anticipate problems, but one never knows. I believe if you order a PDF you can upgrade later by contacting DTRPG directly, but I don't know about time limits on such. For that you'd want to reach out to their customer service.
  23. I have just looked over the final pdf copy with bookmarks and links. We're waiting on the final pod copy.
  24. Sliding slightly to the left of topic. Sounds like your group are turning into a band a la Kings of the Wyld and I heartily approve!
