  1. I love artists with a sense of humour (this is probably why I don't like D&Dish art). I'll make sure I'll drop some hidden Chinese swear words in the art of my Chinese rolegame (if I ever manage to get that far). >:->
  2. I think POW gains are only legitimate in settings where POW is also lost, e.g., in older versions of RQ you had to sacrifice POW to get Rune spells, hence the interest of being able to re-gain lost POW through POW gains. But in settings where PCs never lose any POW, why should there be POW gains?
  3. So how would you describe RQ2 shamanism using the rules in the new BRP book? This is actually the part I'm less scared of, since I've done it before.
  4. If (hopefully) it makes it to publication, will it be a monograph, or a fully-fledged product?
  5. What could I add? Thanks and thanks and thanks again, Ray!
  6. I was looking for shamanism rules specifically written with the new version of the BRP System in mind- Sandy's rules do not qualify
  7. I have uploaded a nice PDF version of my Chinese rolegame on my web-site: http://www.basicrps.com/chine/BaSIC_Chine_imperiale.pdf Enjoy! (warning-- it's in French)
  8. Thanks for pointing those out, but they don't really constitute fully-fledged shamanism rules (how to become a shaman, fetches, bound spirits, allied spirits...)
  9. My... I had downloaded your ruleset but hadn't read that far (shame on me). Did you playtest that part extensively?
  10. The new BRPS book doesn't provide anything. Has anybody come up with any great ideas?
  11. I like this sentence Guess this is the reason why all those D&D novels sucked.
  12. On top of my list I have 'BRP4K' (BRP for kids). Basically it means reducing the 400-page BRP core book to a 10-page booklet for children + props (e.g., each weapon and each spell will be listed on a separate card). On the bottom of my list I have a translation/upgrade of my Chinese rolegame.
  13. Hopefully the latter gets inspiration from E.T.A. Hoffmann's Tales. Love 'em.
  14. Agreed. This book is just full-packed with great ideas. I would certainly recommend it as a must-have on top of RQ Land of Ninja or MRQ Land of the Samurai for any Japanese fantasy/historical campaign.
  15. And here is JeePee's excellent website: JEEPEEONLINE.BE
  16. Thanks a lot... What about firearm availability depending on Europeans v Chinese?
  17. Yes, lots of weird Christian/Gnostic cults.... Yes that would be much later, but could be tied in with the Christian proto-Mongol hordes (some inner Asian nomads did convert to Nestorian Christianity).
  18. Well, I am mostly interested in Qing China, at the time of the Opium Wars and of the Taiping rebellion.
  19. Sorry for not having mentioned that it was in French. But then isn't the curse of Babel fitting for a Mesopotamian game?
  20. URUK (by Olivier Dubreuil) is available on my website: http://www.basicrps.com/uruk/URUK_BRP.pdf It is a fully-fledged, 100-page standalone rolegame set in ancient Mesopotamia. Unfortunately, it was written before the publication of the new Basic Roleplaying (and even before its playtest began); its core mechanics are from the French BaSIC booklet rather than from the new Basic Roleplaying by the Chaosium.
  21. Actually most of what you see in 'kung fu' [武俠] movies is best portrayed through the powers section!
  22. Er... So any suggestions as to what I could use for a 19th century colonial campaign? in terms of weapons available to the Europeans vs weapons available to the natives.
  23. My problem is as follows: there is this long list of firearms, but it doesn't say, for each weapon, at what period of time the weapon is available. And since I am definitely not knowledgeable wrt firearms, I am at a loss to equip PCs and NPCs in a historically accurate way for a given period of time
  24. Amongst the firearms listed on page 255 of the rules... which ones would be available, for a 'Colonial' 19th century setting?
