  1. Would Clearwine have been the biggest urban location in Sartar before he built the cities? I've been assuming it was Orgorvale's capital.
  2. One of my players was engaged in spirit combat when he got the following fumble result: Combatant’s body and spirit become separated; combatant discorporates and may only be reunited by a successful Spirit Travel roll or the intervention of a shaman. The gamemaster should determine the physical effects of long-term discorporation. The character failed a Spirit Travel roll to find his own way back to his body. According to the rules, for each hour beyond the first 6, the character must roll POWx4 or lose D6 HP. Questions: Can the characters watching over his unconscious body heal him as he takes damage from this source? How often would he get a Spirit Travel roll to find his own way back? What actions/rolls would be necessary for another discorporate character to lead him back? Any ideas on long-term repercussions from this experience, if any?
  3. Is a Fox Woman's illusions an innate ability? the result of runic association? from cult worship? I'm wondering if an offspring that was half-Fox Woman would have those abilities.
  4. What tribes are under Kallyr after she assumes the Princedom? I'm assuming: Colymar, Lismelder, Sun Dome, Wilmskirk (Locaem, Balmyr, Sambari), Jonstown (Malani, Cinsina, Culbrea, Torkani), Swenstown (Kheldon, Belkoth, Aranwyth, Dundealos), Durulz, Telmori. Did the Alda-Chur (Dinacoli, Princeros, Tovtaros, Ventaros) and the Alone (Amad, Bachad, Tres) tribes stay with Tarsh at first? Did they move under Kallyr after the Battle of Dangerford and conquest of Alda-Chur? Any others? Any corrections to the above are most welcome!
  5. Exactly, that is why she is working extra hard. I gather that the head of the Jonstown Orlanth temple wouldn't have much pull on the tribes, then? How about an endorsement from Orgorvale? Lismelder on that list surprises me a bit. Is this just the Greydog-Orlmarth feud? I would think that the Narri, Enhyli, Arnoring and Ernaldoring would have to have good relationships with Lismelder for trade purposes since the roads and rivers all pass through their territory. And Narri and Enhyli share responsibilities for defending against the Upland Marsh with the northern Lismelder. Plus they share an enemy in the Malani. And while I've got you, which of Kallyr's companions died in the LBQ?
  6. Queen Leika is pulling together support for a run for the Princedom after Kallyr's untimely demise. In addition to seeking the endorsement of the recently freed spirit of Queen Orgorvale Summer, she is in possession of an Orlanthi artifact that the High Priest of the Jonstown Orlanthi Temple is highly covetous of. Should she award his temple of this artifact in return for his support, how much pull would he have on the Jonstown tribes? I assume the Malani would rather lose body parts than support the Colymar Queen, but could he win her the support of the others? Or do the clan chiefs influence him more than the other way around?
  7. Apple Lane is an outlier in almost every way. Any other tribal thanes outside of the ones you name would also be outliers. Since Runegate is controlled by three clans, perhaps a tribal thane is appointed to govern it. If any of the defensive structures (Tarkalor's Keep, Odd Tower, etc.) are re-engaged then there would likely be a thane put in charge of it. Alebard Elf-friend and Asborn could be tribal thanes. The slave farms euphemistically known as the Lunar Manors were political boons awarded to influential or wronged families by the Empire. I doubt they were even taxable by the tribe, much less controlled. In my game, the Hiording clan is attempting to regain control of Apple Lane, ruling it in conjunction with the Varmandi with promises that it will continue to be open to all clans and tribes. Despite being Hiording, the Thane prefers reporting to the Queen so I don't think that will go anywhere.
  8. Such things are not hereditary, but lineage is very important in Sartarite society, otherwise they wouldn't constantly be naming their ancestors back multiple generations. As someone that grew up there, she could claim a strong understanding of the needs of the village, she would have grown up with "pretty Aileena", as she was known back then, Brightflower and others. She would be well known (for better or worse) to long-time residents and she has a lot of martial experience. If Leika was the one that named her father as thane, then maybe she would remember him fondly, appreciate his service, and want to help his family. Do not confuse a clan/tribal culture with a meritocracy. That said, her claim went nowhere in my game as the eventual Thane had led the defense against Tusk Riders and had a letter of support from Aileena. She will be back, however...
  9. Guilds in Glorantha date back at least to RQ2. You trained characteristics and skills from the fighters, thieves, alchemists, sage, minstrels, forester, mariner, armorer, and horsemaster guilds in the original book. They fell into obscurity after Cults of Prax differentiated most skills by cult instead of guild, but things like the weaponmaster and horsemaster guilds of Apple Lane still exist as places where people with various skills can gather across cults. I think you could expect to see guilds of some type in major cities.
  10. Good, my purpose was to get some cross-pollination of ideas! For my game, as was at least mentioned in the GA, Orgorvale was imprisoned by the EWF. After the Dragonkill, Yerezum Storn's dream went elsewhere since there was no longer people there to worship it, since it had never been killed she was still imprisoned. The Dragonrise pulled and trapped it back into the old dream, thus providing her method of escape. All of my players are Hiording and, coincidentally, when I generated the clan I made Orgorvale Summer their clan ancestor. So many of the spirits in the tomb bemoaning their lack of respect and attention potentially have descendants in the area that would be interested in this. The players have not yet announced the discovery so they can prepare for pilgrims. The Daka Fal and Lhankor Mhy in my party are planning on working together to catalog the spirits there. One thing I am changing is her rune spells. This is partly because I have a Daka Fal player and it isn't fair for everyone to get his spells, but also because I want to push forward her earth rune side over her Man rune side. I will probably leave Summon Ancestor (which is not nearly as useful without the other two) and look for other man and earth spells to complement that. I'll add more to this thread as we figure some things out. I encourage others to do likewise. I'll also mention that the potential for Orgorvale as tribal wyter is talked about in the JC book on Lysang, "In a Merry Green Vale".
  11. My players agreed to found the cult of Orgorvale Summer (ala GA), with one of them serving as her priest. I'd be interested in hearing about any experiences that others have had with founding the cult. The book lists that the cult can be a subcult of Orlanth or Ernalda, part of the Colymar tribal cult (not sure how that would work), or an independent spirit cult. What direction did your players go? How did they grow the cult? What powers did you give the priest? What have you done with the cult, tomb, and goddess? I'm leaning toward not considering this a spirit cult, or at least something between a spirit cult and a regular cult given her importance in history and the fact that at one time she had a very large laity. It may become an Orlanth or Ernalda sub-cult, but I'm playing with the idea of Leika trying to use it to extend her influence within Sartar. The priest is an Orlanthi hunter, the other two founding members are an Orlanthi warrior and a Daka Fal Asst. Shaman, all based out of Apple Lane.
  12. They should update the rune spell list from the references booklet in the box set with the new spells and add cults for each as a pdf that comes with the product, similar to how they have done character sheets. A very few may have too many cults due to associations and such.
  13. Just as there are multiple cults for warriors, with important differences between them, there are multiple cults for thieves. There are differences between the two. We'll see how GoG deals with this, but for me Eurmal steals for the fun of it, to cause disorder and trick people. Lanbril steals for profit and can be much more organized than you'll ever find Eurmali (for long, at least). A crime family in a city, for instance. I suspect that Lanbril will be strictly Pavis, though with Eiritha being expanded across Sartar and the possibility of Argrath bringing it with him with all those people from Pavis, who knows.
  14. Hmm, so a spat of suicides could actually be a spirit possessing people.
  15. After a good forum discussion on this a few weeks ago, I implemented the following in my game: Learning a new rune spell requires a week-long ritual at the end of which the player must make a Worship roll in order to learn the spell. Standard worship bonuses apply (temple, holy day, sacrifices), except magic points only give +1% and are limited to 5 (in all uses of Worship, in my game). There are no penalties to a miss or fumble other than not learning the spell, though I will give a few points of Cult Lore on a special or critical.
  16. Dark Walk- This should be self instead of ranged, as per the Well of Daliath errata. And someone should go through all of that errata as this wasn't the only one that didn't make it into this printing.
  17. So if the possessing spirit is forced out by spirit combat or negotiation, then the original person would regain control of the body? But if the body is killed, then both the possessing and original spirit die?
  18. If a spirit possesses someone through spirit combat and then leaves or is driven out, is the original owner dead or regains control or...?

    RBOMG!

Several eyebrow rising spells, but without knowing about the cults they go with it is just half the recipe. Overall, this is an odd publication.
  20. Wow, I didn't expect my question to lead to such Gloranthan existentialism! There are clearly holes that need to be filled to avoid munchkin abuse, but most of them don't seem difficult to handle. As to whether Glorantha has been or can be rebooted, I think that is currently happening. But as I have a couple of history degrees sitting around collecting dust somewhere, I understand and accept that these kinds of reboots are the way!
  21. page 4, paragraph 6: delete comma after "reality"
  22. Summon Ludoch- Mispelled "Chorolinthor".
  23. Crack uses Disorder rune instead of Chaos in the RQG book.
  24. Tanglethicket- This may be intended, but as written the thicket would not damage weapons that are attacking them as most weapons have more than 9 hit points and therefore would not be damaged "as if it parried an attack doing that much damage" assuming a normal attack and normal parry. Tame Bull- Does it calm berserk Storm Bulls? Transfer Pregnancy- If pregnancy for Species 1 is moved to Species 2, which species will the baby be? Vision- Odd phrasing: "away from the spirit of the target." Might need some clarification as to intend there (discorporate characters?). Wolf's Head- Should this have the clayday/waterday restriction also? (An aside: This name is MUCH better than the Transform Head spell names.) Done! Now I need to prepare to wipe my party with a Dream Dragon tomorrow night!
