  1. On the 'R's... Getting close enough to smell the yellow musk zombies and finne!
  2. For the last couple of days I've been unable to log into forums. If I choose the "forgot password" option and reset it, it allows me access but fails again when I log in later. Error code: 2C232/1 Help?
  3. Has anyone used the Voudou magic system from Bloodtide yet? I'm thinking about incorporating it into a MW campaign and was wondering if there is anything I should know or be wary about? Currently re-reading it all again to see what I like and dislike...
  4. I'm into the "P's" The Penanggalan is pretty darn neat. Gonna use her 4 sure! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penanggalan_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)
  5. I don't think Kickstart is a good gauge for determining interest. I'm an active RPG freak and have never done a kickstarter. I have a group of 6 in my tabletop games and they've never done one though 3 of them have bought MW products from Chaosium and Amazon. Anyway my original point was that I'd be willing to pay the higher prices for such quality materials. If they're done in B&W on the cheap side instead...meh, I'll take what I can get.
  6. I was thinking I paid $105 for D&D 4.0 box set which was 3 hard covers with glossy full color. Very well done but lousy system (IMO) Been trying to sell it on Craigslist for $20 in brand new condition with no takers. LOL I don't know what kinda bulk Wizards ordered these in so can't guestimate the cost/sales ratio but I'd pay that for a MW set of 3 well done hard backs in B&W. (Core, Monster Book, and Campaign guide or maybe Advanced Sorcery)
  7. I think that's a matter of perspective and priorities, Nclarke. Almost all of my ICE MERP books I purchased were when I was but a lad with little disposable income. A new book came out, I mowed a few lawns, shoveled snow off a few driveways and beat feet to my local game store. Indeed now that I'm older (not so much wiser perhaps) I do have some spare cash to sling around and will put out for something pretty and useful to support my only real hobby. (My wife would say Vice) But were I still a lad I'd find a way to make a worthy purchase still. I paid $50 for the old Core Rules II and another $30 (? ) for the expansion which was an excellent computer tool for AD&D when I was early 20s. I'd still use it today, if I were to run an AD&D game.(not likely) But relatively speaking I'd pay double that for a like tool for BRP/Magic World.
  8. Agree on many points listed above. I always loved how ICE did MERP. (Middle Earth Role Playing) Put out a decent product for a fair value and flood the market with campaign material and modules. My shelfs buckle under the weight of all those books. Even if it wasn't the Southern Reaches (which I understand was just meant as an example) a wonderfully written/edited/illustrated campaign guide based on MW would be nice. Nothing as complex as Glorantha please, but open enough to make it mine without hours of studying. Hmmmm....new project?
  9. I'll admit, I'm WAY out of the loop on most squid-head stuff, but out of curiosity (and hoping for news on Chroniclers Companion) I was browsing Chaosiums site and saw Horror on Orient Express selling for $120. The PDF for half that. "$60 for a dang PDF?" I said aloud. "WTH?" So I dug into the description and watched an unboxing video and...yeah...now I get it. Congrats to everyone involved, of course. What a piece of work! I know I'm behind. Don't grief me too badly as I'm mostly only interested in fantasy and MW, so I never really even gave Orient Express a thought.(But did cast my vote for loyalty sake) I found myself thinking "what a great fan base the system must have to spend so much on it." Then I realized if such a product were released for MW, or a equally impressive tool set, I'd prolly fork out that kinda cash. Maybe not for a series of (incredible looking) adventures so much, but a thick campaign guide coupled with a pretty monster tome? Maybe including a hard copy of MW with errata? What would YOU expect if you were given a $120 price tag for something Magic World related?
  10. LOL! I see some hurt feelings when moderator checks the sheets and: 1. Raises an eyebrow curiosly 2. Shakes his/her head sadly 3. Turns red trying not to laugh 4. Shoots Mt.Dew out nose from laughing 5. Proclaims "Guys...I was being SERIOUS " 6. Loudly asks WTF? 7. Crumples character sheet up and hands you a new one. I can't imagine a good start to this game but do think it might be fun. Might suggest it to my group if we do a modern zombie game. I imagine their response to be "Um...we roleplay to NOT be ourselves. "
  11. Think I can get Russ to illustrate my books?
  12. I'd totally forgotten how COOL Githyanki from old AD&D are! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Githyanki May need to run a campaign with these guys being the adversaries Yes. I'm on the 'Gs'
  13. In my campaign PCs must have skills at a certain % before they can add Feats/Aretes to those skills. Fumbles/Special/Critical successes have varying effects with sorcery skill rolls as well. While there are a lot of support spells in vanilla MW, there are PLENTY of combat spells as well and imaginative uses for non-combat spells used in combat. I also use this skill roll in determining if a sorcerer can figure out what a combatant sorcerer is preparing to cast. I've been contemplating having seperate skills for all spells, making them act more like powers so that sorcerers can be specialists.
  14. In Firefly RPG lore several such arcs left "Earth that was" to colonize a new system. Always wanted to have a band of players run into a derelict ark that got lost in transit. My idea was a generations boat because there's no FtL travel in Firefly, but the ship lost power and the entire compliment of crew expired save a couple who secured themselves in stasis. Or maybe a scenario like Event Horizon.
  15. Welcome to the Chaosium goodness. I'm also a (not-as) recent convert. I hope you find a niche that works for you!
  16. Maybe a silly Harry Potter vibe...Monstrous Aplenticus
  17. A catalog of creatures that size needs a great title. Please post suggestions! 1. Tooleys Massive Copyright Breach Compendium
  18. The conversion from Fiend Folio is going splendidly. I'm currently on Oriental Dragons. This book has so many cool critters that I wish I had done this prior to the Mega Dungeon...Ah well... Am quite excited to get it done as I want to put together 1 massive book containing all 3 in 1 (Manual of Monsters I&II and Folio of Fiends) then a seperate book with just statblocks from all 3.
  19. This really could be a fun PbP campaign though. I may have to contemplate such a game when my current is done.
  20. The RuneQuest Empires is a wonderful system as well and I got a lot of inspiration from that source. I definitely think my system is more streamlined and probably easier for YOU to manage EVERYONES separate kingdoms ,but people might at least be familiar with RuneQuest Empires so it might be easier, more comfortable, and fuzzier. Either way I think it's gonna be fun. I'm going after Chaot first! Muhahahaha! Edit: forgot this isn't going to be a game of RISK. Sorry.
