  1. I had the music video of Knights of Cydonia pop into my head as read your description. I'm always a fan of settings that show the flexibility of BRP. While you're at it, maybe you can do a sourcebook for the Grimjack comic by Timothy Truman? I really like how Cydoria will cater to many different styles of adventure though, and look forward to seeing more.
  2. Okay, I laughed. Probably the first time I've seen that written with apparent sincerity.
  3. Rust, Nick, and Conrad, thanks guys. I don't care what the others say about you, you're okay in my book!
  4. Okay, thanks for the responses. I was mainly interested in the DW article details about the, uh, Gwaefir. I'm remembering a smaller race, light frames, no heavy armor (leather at most) and missle weapons. Hmm, homes built on high ground/cliffs? As long as I don't set up a culture of winged humanoids who specalize in underground mining I think I'll be okay. Rust: I am curious about the Wind Children stats, having never seen the RQ Vikings box. The smiley makes me think they are rather powerful, not the idea I was going for.
  5. I think it was from issue #28 or so of Different Worlds, an article covering winged humanoids. I had a copy of the issue that has gone missing. Could someone post the basic details? Thanks in advance.
  6. Just wanted to say "Thanks!" for the work that went into this. I bought the 2300AD boxed set back in the day and a number of the supplements when a local bookstore was clearing out most of their RPG section. Never really used much of it, except some Kafer adventures for a BRP time travel campaign.
  7. Of course, Batman, Robin and the Joker are the kind of low level supers that BRP will handle just fine. Not sure where to find BRP stats for those guys though.
  8. What about, the Whobear? "YEAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
  9. Birdbears, or maybe BearOwls?
  10. Could you be more specific? I don't see anything wrong at first or second glance with page 15. After edit: Just to take my own advice, I'm using Windows XP, and printed it out double-sided (odd then even pages).
  11. Check the download section here, as Warlords of Alexander is a great setting. I believe you want more of a campaign, rather than just a setting, but Warlords is filled with a ton of adventure ideas.
  12. Gamma World meets Fallout 3? Anything Gamma World is a huge plus in my book, but like kaddawang, I'm not sure where you are going with this heavily modified BRP(?) character creation. I'd suggest you finish it up as a PDF and have it added to the download section, rather than bits and pieces in posts. It should make more sense when you can sit down and read all of it.
  13. It was a good idea to add these quick sample adventures in. It really adds to the idea that BRP is good for all kinds of genres.
  14. Good to hear, this is one of the BRP books I've been looking forward to. Uh, what does the price (roughly) translate to in American dollars?
  15. Welcome to all of you newbies. Nice to see that the BRP book is reaching some new people, along with the old vets of the system.
  16. I'm using Windows XP and Adobe 9.0 to view the Creatures PDF. After looking again, I see no issues with Outpost 19 or the BRP QuickStart.
  17. Despite Harshax being overly sensitive, he is correct. There are some definite issues with the Creatures PDF. Here and there are missing "1's" and "L's". The problem is with the PDF, not my printer BTW. I'm sure the boys at Chaosium will get this corrected, but they have to be embarassed to see this make it out the "door".
  18. It contains creatures. Duh. I don't have the RQ3 book, but I'd guess.... yeah, it probably is. You get an alphabetical list of about 90 creatures, allosaurus to zombie, with a fairly, er, basic selection. Rules for playing Broo, Centaur, Duck, Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, Ogre, Orc, and Troll characters. If you have a pretty good collection of BRP games, you don't really need this. It filled in a few gaps for me, and I like having one resource to turn to instead of digging out Hawkmoon to check stats for oxen, but that's me. If you are new to BRP, then this is probably worth $9 and a bit of paper and ink (fifty pages long) to print out. Hope this helps. In other news, I didn't see any real need for the BRP Gamemaster PDF, at least for any veteran GM. Anyone have it, and want to sell me on it?
  19. Yeah, just got an email from Chaosium this afternoon. Grabbed a copy of the Creatures PDF, which should come in handier than looking through various scattered publications.
  20. I could have lived with less art (and a page or two less in length as a result) but it printed up fine. It helped to use a 24 weight paper versus the thinner 20 weight I usually use.
  21. A very nice intro to the BRP system. Free is a great price, and a great way to create interest among those who've never tried the Chaosium system.
  22. Which brings up a good opportunity I think, rleduc. How nice would it be to see some of the monographs get some extra support through the BRP Adventures mongraphs? Might not work in every case of course, as some would no doubt require the full monograph to really understand the adventure setting, but still.... To use a videogame analogy, we often see a demo for a game to build interest for the full game. Why not a sample adventure with some setting notes to promote a BRP monograph? See how easy it is to volunteer others to do work?
  23. So, who is planning on writing something for this? Anyone looking at doing something for a Pulp or Supers genre? I'm very tempted to write up something, just a quick adventure so I can actually have the satisfaction of seeing something finished. Of course that would take time and focus away from another project I've been working on since last year -so I'm torn. On the other hand, I'm hoping to see another historic based adventure or two in this next monograph. Any volunteers? After edit: Can we merge this and the other announcement thread?
  24. Well, you could get a free PDF, monograph, and a $50 gift certificate for writing 5,000 words. Is that really a bad deal?
  25. I think it'd be illegal NOT to plan ahead at this point. The first BRP Adventures monograph was a surprise, this one was kinda expected. Good news though, very good.
