  2. Gloranthan Cults One-pagers - 2019 Edition There is a new version in town of the Gloranthan Cult one pagers (2019 edition). Around 160 cults described in one pager format (except of course for Orlanth) with new spell categorisation and new information here and there. This categorises the spells from associated cults into a new format. The information is gathered from all of the publications so far and the spells and their associated cults have mainly been aligned with material from Gods of Glorantha, Cults of Prax, Cults of Terror and Runequest Glorantha and Runequest Bestiary with newer material given most often the precedence. In Runequest Glorantha there are couple of spells mentioned as available to all cults - if you play that version - please add them by hand. I have used common rune spell list mainly conforming to an older version of RQ. There are in the list now spells from many versions of Runequest throughout its history I may later on publish a new version of Spell Reference which points to the sources - some of them not currently available in print. The material should be useful even if it does not fully conform to your particular rules for Glorantha. 6. So it is still necessary for there to be Dormal initiate who knows the opening ritual in the ship. What happens if the last Dormal initiate on ship dies while the ship is on open seas. Effect of closing (=real bad things) immediately or Real Soon Now? Minutes, hours? Varies... How many Dormal initiates one would be expect there to be on the ship normally (one, just a couple, 5% of the crew, 10% of the crew). Would vary by culture?
  7. It was a very bad night in the port at Fonrit... ..the trouble is you hardly remember any of it. "What if one of the characters is waking up with a headache. He is with dead fully clothed body of Asta daughter of Toril, a Westerner female or Wahhab ibn Shakir, a Vadeli male. Victim has small bite marks in the neck. Waker has flesh wounds in arms. He is at roof level garden in merchant's quarters. Door is locked from inside. Last thing he remembers is going into a ceremony of a brotherhood: 'The High Road - Negotiate with Natives, establish the trade and send priests to teach Civilized Behaviour'. There is threatening voice on the door . It is cleaner?" Johnn Fourr created had a wonderful idea for creating plot seeds in his article at "Roleplaying Tips" I created couple of generators for a Fonritan Port Town in the spirit of those. First one is the"City Bad Night Encounter Seed Generator" in the style of Dashiell Hammett, the movie Hangover and many pulp detective stories but in the fantasy world. The second one is Town Rumor Generator- again for a Fonritan port town. The latter one is built on top of Town Rumor Generator that is available for Campaign Logger Generator users. Johnn and Jochen from the Campaign Loggerteam kindly have given permission to use it as a basis. "A descendent of the Shah of Kalabar, The City of Sorcery has been hiding in town as Olende son of Bodolf, a Westerner conspirator for many years." There is also a generator for what happens in the "Port Today". It is for a Fonritan port and takes into account the weather for Glorantha seasons from Guide to Glorantha, cargo from trade in the same book, maritime nations from the Men at Sea and ship data that has already been published on this site and is based on all the Gloranthan publications I could find. Ship condition and ship rules have been updated to conform with "Ships and Shieldwalls"rules and the ship reputation and naming is coming from "Raging Swan Press"publications with their permission. There are also few person generators creating person cameos for Orlanthi from Umathela and Fonritan people. Each will give a short description , portrayal and hook adjusted from 3 Line NPC generator from Campaign logger folks and taking into account the professions that might come with those civilizations. Profession names and their attachment to civilisation type (barbarian, civilised, nomad) come mostly from Mythras Core Rules. The skin color and clothing come inspired from the Guide to Glorantha and greetings come from the various Gloranthan sources for example from "Gloranthan Voices". Here is one Orlanthi male "Aricin son of Utgard Greeting:I am from the city of Barugaza in Umathela. Description:I am a sassy habberdasher. I sniff incessantly as if having a running nose. 9. Major announcement - new kind of tools for GM's from Notes From Pavis I have been working for over a year on my own campaign tools for the campaign I play in Loral at Glorantha using Mythras. I got involved in Campaign Logger from Johnn Fourr and friends and have been building generators of all kinds for my campaign using the Campaign Logger generator tool. Most of the generators are not game system specific at all. They concentrate on Fonrit and Pamaltela but can be useful elsewhere. I have been thinking what is the right way to expose these to those who would possibly benefit from them. Geek Mode On All of them are dynamic generators so require a working backend server. I decided over the weekend to try out Google Cloud App Engine and programmed a bit of Python and HTML5 with Bootstrap 4 to make this happen. Campaign Logger is the awesome engine that makes the generation happen and it is used via REST API. I will use this cloud publication engine as long as it is affordable (=free) and after that will think of something else if need be. Geek Mode Off The new sub site will grow in content over time hopefully as well as Encounter Generator does. Encounter Generator will continue to produce the game system specific enemies and encounters for you. The new sub site is named Notes From Pavis Tools and is accessed via tools.notesfrompavis.com . If the link does not work - type tools.notesfrompavis.com to your browser's search bar. The first content that I put up there are three generators. Fonritan Background Generator Fonritan Background generator generates Gloranthan background for player characters. Timeline is gathered from Guide to Glorantha - both the official dates and local events. Cities from all over Fonrit are on the city list. Actions what characters relatives did come from long list of personal actions. This follows the approach taken in the Gloranthan Timelines here at Notes From Pavis. Tribal Taboos Broken Taboos broken uses the taboos from Monster Island (one of my favourite ever supplements). Primitive tribes may have taboos and when taboos are broken they demand recompense. Tribal Unit Tribal Unit generator generates small combat units for primitive tribes. They give unit's or secret society's name, some color in the type of the unit and the unit's commander. This is also inspired by Monster Island - place and tribe names come from there. It also gives the attributes necessary to use the units in Ships and Shieldwalls rule set so players can participate as commanders (or participants) in battles. More generators will come later now that I have found a way to technically publish them. Please check out the new tooling via tools.notesfrompavis.com . If the link does not work - type tools.notesfrompavis.com to your browser's search bar. and give feedback. https://notesfrompavis.blog/2019/01/27/major-announcement-new-kind-of-tools-for-gms-from-notes-from-pavis/

  11. You will find a version for few of those in the Encounter Generator. Should be easy to mod if and when needed - they are for d100 based game anyway. The following are missing from there Andrewsarchus, Arctodus, Arsinoitherium, Eland, field elephant, Fire Wren, Fish Eagle, Frog, Giant Sloth, Gigantopithecus, Gomphotheres, Green Heron, Hippopotamus, Homotherium, Milk Antelope, Sivatherium, Stegodon, Sun Fish People, Trihorn rhinoceros, Warthog, Wildebeest Where did you get the above list, some of those I do not recognise. Generator should contain almost all of the Anaxial and other published stats in d100 format. --h
  12. Looking for a variety of noble titles used in the various societies of Glorantha. I think there must have been variety of different title names. For Fonrit I have been using various Middle Eastern noble ranks. For the western perhaps the standard medieval ones will do. What are ones you see fit for the various regions. Fonrit Umathela Western Sartar Lunar Esrolia
  13. Looking for a variety of military ranks used in the various armies of Glorantha. I think there must have been variety of different title names possibly corresponding to the normal Sergeant, Master Sergeant, Captain, Major, General or similar. Fonritan Armies Umathelan Armies Western armies Sartar army Lunar army Esrolian Armies
  14. In AiG it was 1d8 Medium Size and reach. Disarm and Bludgeon as the specialties. 4 Armor points and 6 hit points with 1 enc. Compared to broadsword same damage, same size and reach. Broadsword was bleed and impale. Armor 6 points and 10 hitpoints with enc 2. Battleaxe 1h Damage 1d6+1, same size and reach. Bleed and sunder. Armor 4 points, 8 hit points, 1 enc. Different d100 system but may give you way to compare and decide what you want to do with RQG....
  15. Quite a bit I guess - it has been asked maybe 2-4 times - once a year during the last 4-5 years tool has been in existence. The developer (skoll) considers this to be pretty much feature complete. So do I - pretty much. If there is additional development - there are some things that I would consider to help more than trying to create extra complexity and work in trying to maintain a portable version. The technology would need to be different. It will not be uptodate with the templates and features that are constantly being updated. Currently there are no major bugs - it works on its own. I am involved in another tool (campaign logger) that has portable and internet versions separate. The portable version has not been developed for awhile as most players in most occasions have internet access - so the web version has large variety of features not existing in portable ones. And that is small commercial product... Why would you want to have portable. It is portable enough already - using it constantly on my iPad - it just requires the internet connection. If you cannot have internet connection - it is super easy to prepare for session by generating enough opponents before hand of any kind whatsoever. I have a small folder of them printed out just in case - any permanent ones I could also store as pdf in Evernote or file folders. For example for city - few encounters before hand, for jungle - few human, few animal, few monsters, for a forbidden temple - few guards, few monsters, the big baddie and so on... The thing with having the printed ones out is that you can mark them during the melee (hit points, conditions etc...) In Mythras it is hard to have several melees in a night - so few ready made printed or pdf should be enough. If you are going to a cottage for a week of gaming and no internet there - again it is easy to prep beforehand - printing larger amount or pdf:ing larger amount.
  16. Borderlands or Griffin Mountain... Either will do magnificently.
  17. Here is a grab bag of Mythras Encounter updates. Some sorcerers, Gloranthan form of ghouls, many insects, rabble and some pregen for those quick games with starting characters. Encounter generator is a way to very quickly generate enemies and NPCs for your campaign with full stats easy to reference. There are more than 3000 enemy templates to choose from - likely to contain something for your campaign as well. Healing Charts Refined for Mythras The Healing and Wounds chart has been revamped. The new version has the Healing & Medicine spirits and Cure Malady Runespell effects added. The spirit rules contain interpretation from the design mechanism forums how one should heal poison with the spirits. Also the rules page references to Mythras 3rd printing were added. There was also some tuning for readability. The new version of the chart is here. It is also available in the Mythras chart pages. https://notesfrompavis.blog/2018/12/02/healing-charts-refined-for-mythras/

For the crunchy awesome bits added three new charts Crunch Mode in Mythras - Combat Effects of Weapon / Shield Sizes and Reach Here are some crunchy bits from Mythras. The optional rules for weapon range effects on combat can produce additional tactical choices. To help the tacticians among you to do some optimizing without doing mathematics here are some tables for you I combined experimentally all the weapon size and reach information to provide easy look up tables for what weapons are effective for closing to short distance or opening to longer distance. The tables should contain all the weapons in Mythras, Monster Island, AiG and the Eastern Weapons charts. So for example from the "Shorter Weapons Reach" table you can see that if attacker closes in with one handed mace to inside the effective reach of long spear - the long spear user cannot parry and its size is considered to be small (drops two sizes) so the long spear in defense will only stop half the damage. In addition when the long spear user tries to attack it will give max 1d3+1 damage and its size is reduced by 2 - so even a small weapon will stop all the damage and mace is medium in size. Normally mace could only stop half the damage from long spear. But if the attacker can keep the attacker at its long range ("Longer Weapon Reach") - mace can only attack the spear itself while long spear user could use the long spear normally. This can be quite interesting when attacker closes in to unarmed combat. I also created a "parry and passive blocking to stop Damage" table to show how various defenders' weapons are effective in blocking the attackers weapon - either in a parry or in passive blocking. These are included also in the Mythras Charts page https://notesfrompavis.blog/2018/12/01/crunch-mode-in-mythras-combat-effects-of-weapon-shield-sizes-and-reach/ Feedback and play testing / debugging help welcome...

This has been used creatively by players so far...

  25. https://notesfrompavis.blog/2017/04/15/fonrit-background-and-culture-for-players/ In addition to this I have made a background history generator for Fonrit that generates a short history for your family line using timelines and events from GtG and other sources. the histories are inlikely to repeat so they can be used also for major NPCs.The histories can be used as a starting point. i will post examples when I get back to my computer. This is not yet published as it is running in ruby on my Mac. I have also created with campaign-logger description generators for Fonritans. I will post some examples later. In addition to this encounter generator creates pregens for Fonritans that can likely be modded to RQG with some handwaving https://notesfrompavis.blog/2017/04/14/pregenerated-characters-for-fonrit/ Will gladly compare notes...
