The other way to look at it might be not to try a direct translation. Some things simply won't map across. Go with the situation. Is there any information about why the door is hard to open. Is it big and heavy ? - then it's a STR test. A cunning lock ? - then it's skills test. Use the context rather than the mechanics if you see what I mean.

I don't suppose anybody has got the archives of the Chaosium digest from the 90's upto 2000 zipped up somewhere have they ? I think I can track them down from that point, but I understand that the digest started in either 94 or 96 so it's those early years I'm looking for.

I rather liked sorcery, but Pete's comments about it's flaws are well observed. I must admit I started using Sandy Petersons revised rules when they came out as they addressed a good few of those flaws

You realise that now I won't be satisfied until there is a Merrie Vatican don't you ? Mind you given the political skullduggery and power surrounding the Church in medieval times there probably is a supplement in there somewhere. I've got all the historical supplements except "Crusaders of the amber coast" and I hope to pick up a copy this weekend. Celestial Empire is on my wish list when it comes out as well You mentioned that the issue of having books for 3 seperate systems had somewhat diluted the impact having those historical supplements out, but that you had resolved that. Are you planning to have dual system books produced or something similiar ?

I think there is a certain amount of truth in the comments made about BRP needing a good setting, I like BRP a great deal and have most of the monographs, but a good setting is always welcome. I am looking forward to the Chronicles of Future earth setting, it ticks a lot of the right boxes for me. Lets hope it will be well supported with supplements

I must admit I'd not even attempt to hit the rider, I'd be sneaky and go for the horse every time. If the rider gets thrown or the horse collapses on top of him he's easy meat for a few combat rounds.

So...to use a real world example, a roman legionary might have have 'hate germanic barbarians ' as a passion ( say 50%) and this would give him 5% to combat skills for fighting said barbarians....but if he was transferred to the eastern front and ended up fighting the persians he wouldn't benefit from the bonus ? have I got that right ?

I suppose that all makes sense but I can see it all getting a bit confusing. You'd of thought mythos content equalled CoC line and non mythos equalled BRP line.

Wouldn't it come out under the Coc monograph line in a situation like that ?
