  1. All the stuff I want is only available in PDF
  2. True enough, but on the other hand as a one line summary of the books it's pretty good Sailor on the seas of Fate was probably my favourite Elric book. Overall though the Corum books ( both series ) were my fave Eternal champion books
  3. "the activity, spirit, or time of the great revival of art, literature, and learning in Europe beginning in the 14th century and extending to the 17th century, marking the transition from the medieval to the modern world."
  4. Well, There is Grimoire by Tywyll ( Matthew ) which does exactly what you're asking. It's been submitted so it's wait and see on that one. I think ( as I've said Ad Nauseum ) that Basic Magic could form the core of an excellent magic supplement. What's needed is somebody at Chaosium to have bit of vision on this one. Instead of endless retreads and tweaks of pretty much the same material it needs someone to step back and .....hell, I've said it a hundred times, I'm sure I've even said it in this thread
  5. Which I can understand, It's just I feel it wouldn't have taken that much space. For example a simple note for strike rank purposes each PP of a spell would add to the strike rank in the manner desribed on page whatever it is of the core rules would have only taken a line or two. Don't get me wrong you came to the project very late on as you say so I'd imagine there wasn't much you could do. Strike ranks and hit locations are two of the more popular options, especially for those coming from the RQ. Maybe a single page appendice at the back would have been a neater way of doing it
  6. Mmmm...ok they're optional rules, so don't we need a bit in the magic book ( maybe a side box ) that states 'if using the [insert rule here ] option from the BGB, then do x, y and z' compatability should be our middle name
  7. I'm confused now, the BGB allows hit locations, strike ranks and encumbrance ( certainly the first two ) as options. Does that mean the new version isn't compatible with those options? Also please please say that after nearly 30 years the errata have been worked into the document
  8. Whilst fully intending to stay out the rest of the conversation I would point out that OTO Melara are actually pretty successful at what they do which is gun based weapons systems. There's an awful lot of ships round the world mounting their guns.
  9. Ummm... I don't know what series it was It was very late ( or early depending on how you look at it ) there was herbiage involved, it's all a bit hazy. I remember there being a very large black Mecha with shoulder mounted rockets and a smaller one with a sort of hand held SMG/Assault rifle and some sort of integral chainsword like weapon. Small people ran around screaming and dying, it was about 6 years ago and I seem to recall the whole video was about 2 hours long ? In all fairness this may not qualify as a statistically valid sample However you've addressed the point I was interested in, that of ammo supply I'm assuming that'll be reflected in BRP Mecha ?
  10. I meant a matter of time in terms of the technology being equal to the challenge, certainly whether there's a need for it remains to be seen. I'd certainly agree that ammo supply would be a major problem. That's one of the things that has struck me about the ( admittedly very small ) amount of anime/manga Mecha I've seen - an endless supply of bullets ( shells ! ) and rockets or missiles, where are they carrying all those munitions ?
  11. Is that RQ2 or MRQ2 or...hell I've lost track now....
  12. OTO Melara, An Italian arms firm have 76mm auto cannon on the market that can fire upto 120 rpm http://www.otomelara.it/EN/Common/files/OtoMelara/pdf/business/naval/mediumCalibers/76-62SR.pdf They also have a 127mm naval gun that they've got to about 60rpm in tests. The main stumbling block with the smaller gun is ammunition supply of the ship it's mounted on. In tests they've achieved over 120rpm ( but not with consistent reliability ), but it's only a matter of time.... EDIT just noticed on their site they have a 40mm gun that can pump out 450 rpm !
  13. Nah, just means you have to work four times as fast
  14. Don't know, I live in the UK anyway so that's not a problem. What would shipping be like to the states from here ? PS I've said it before so I'll say it again...when are you going to write MIG 3 ?
  15. Grimoire will be right up your street. I helped proof read, playtest and even ( coughs modestly ) contributed a couple of ideas. It is chock full of magical goodness. Matthew wrote some excellent stuff for it. I don't want to say more without Matthews permission, try PMing him to see if he'll come here and talk about it.
  16. Happy birthday to our hero. Who if Interplanetary is as good as I hope will be may be elevated to deity status
  17. You should pitch this to Stephen King as a plot device....it's the sort of thing he might get a book out of
  18. Where are the elemental tattoos from ? EDIT: Aren't the demon summoning rules from Elric in the sorcery section of the BGB ? I'll have to check. Certainly the demon construction stuff would be good, some of that does seem to have crept into Chronicles Of Future Earth
  19. I know MRQ 1 wasn't to everybodies taste but I thought I'd mention that Mongoose are having a sale of a lot of MRQ1, Elric and Hawkmoon stuff over at their website. Dirt cheap prices: £2.99 to £4.99. Even the MRQ2 stuff is at sale prices though not as cheap as the MRQ1. I've picked up about £40 worth of stuff.
  20. Well, some of the Bronze Grimoire is already in the BGB if memory serves. BGB sorcery has bits from both Elric Core Rules and Bronze Grimoire I think. I've said this many times before ( many, many times ) but what I'd like to see would be: BRP Magic Chapter 1: Magic...err..magic the first Powers system for BGB Loads of new spells, mind you Classic Fantasy Vol 1 has a couple of hundred of these so this might be redundant Chapter 2: Sorcery, all the remaining spells from Elric/Stormbringer plus remaining spells from the Bronze Grimoire, plus the sorcery spells from the now out of print Gods of Law and Gods of Chaos monographs. All suitably edited and BRPised. This would give what 70-80 spells, maybe more ? Chapter 3: Runic Sorcery, from Bronze Grimoire, suitably edited and with many new runic sorceries Chapter 4: Spirit Magic, as is but with all the spells from the old editions of Runequest suitably de gloranthasised Chapter 5: Divine Magic as with spirit magic, there were loads of divine magic spells for RQ2/3. Again de gloranthasise, allocate to the deity archetypes in Basic Magic ( hell, put some new archetypes in ) Chaper 6: Wizardry, cull all the sorcery spells from RQ2/3 edit accordingly and add to the mix. The beauty of this is most of the material already exists, it's a matter of compiling and editing rather than creating new stuff. Though chapters 1 and 3 would require new material. I don't think Witchcraft and Grimoire should be compiled in this fashion they're monographs not 'official' publications ( if you see what I mean ) and thus should be allowed to stand on their own merits and to the credit of the authors
  21. COFE volumes 1 to 24 available in easy monthly payments ? Joking aside, the problem for me was that it did need to be bigger, something the size of the BGB. I'd of rather they left the scenario out, given us more background ( much more ! ) and packaged the scenario in with Worm and another scenario to give a largish scenario pack shortly after the initial setting came out.....
  22. I must admit I'd take the attitude post them and then take them down if anybody complains.....
  23. I don't think it was a reflection on COFE as a whole, rather that at 30 pages odd the base costs of a print version of Worm would make it excessively expensive for what it was.... I'd like to see COFE do well, I like the feel of the setting and it's intriguing enough that I'd buy more, like yourself I prefer dead tree products. Mind you I was rather disapointed by COFE, I felt there was too much repetition and the whole product needed to be bigger
