  1. Well ? With this and Chronicles of Future earth in the works a I can feel a distinct 1930's retro vibe coming on....
  2. I'd second what soltakss said. it's only those three monographs that need to be treated with some caution. the big Golden Book ( main rules ) is definately worth the money. In addition many of the monographs are stuffed full of good content even if the production is semi- pro. If swords'n'sorcery /fantasy RPGing is your thing then The Green is worth shelling out for. Well in my opinion it is, I was very impressed by it.
  3. There's a world of Greyhawk conversion to RQ on this site.... http://talmeta.net/ The site is worth a good look quite apart from that one particular piece, lots of good stuff.
  4. Well, they seem to have pretty much everything over at Chaosium, and I have just been paid....no,no I will resist, I will wait until they have a sale. I suppose it's too much to hope for that you have a link or copy to hand ? I know what you're saying here and I think for reference purposes that would be fine. However I'd be loath to incorporate any material. As a 'core book' I'd think such a product would need to be self contained and not reliant on the availability or not of limited edition monographs. Any such magic book would be as I said part of the base line of how BRP worked ( thus my comments about thorough editing ) it would if you like be the control group or neutral setting that people would then take away and use or tinker with to their hearts content. The thing with referencing each others work is that it creates a situation where it's someones varient of the rules that is referenced rather than the rules themselves. A situation that I think could lead to severe confusion I rather like this as well, if you'll forgive a slight drift into nostalgia it reminds me of my early days in RPGing when people chucked ideas around like confetti and everthing was shiny and new
  5. I don't own Nephilim so it's hard for me to comment on it...is it worth picking up a copy ? The Unknown East was a good book I but always felt that the magic system wasn't particularly well developed, good ideas, but it was as though they got half way through and lost the plot or gave up. But yes If you're going for a BRP magic supplement it would make sense for them to be included if they were BRP compatible. As for stuff from monographs....I'm not sure. Firstly if this were a Chaosium distribution book it would be 'the rules' as it were. The base line from which monograph writers would operate, rather than the other way round if that makes sense. Certainly a little section on alternative magic monographs would be appropriate. is this what you were thinking of ?
  6. At a very real risk of sounding like a stuck CD A modest proposal: Basic Magic Edit thoroughly to update to BRP standard Cull through old RQ products for spirit magic spells, de- gloranthise and add to spirit magic list As above for Divine magic Sorcery: rename to avoid confusuion, add in errata ( I mean it's only been around for 20 years ) Provide balance of golden book style sorcery spells from The Bronze Grimoire and other Elric material Provide Runic sorcery spells from bronze Grimoire expand and provide extra spells for all categories menrtioned above Cook on a low gas mark for a suitable period of time....and you'd actually have a pretty good product. maybe rather than just talking about it I should actually contact Dustin over at Chaosium and suggest it....
  7. Seems interesting, the only bit I'm not keen on is the idea that armour reduces your chance of being hit...that seems very D&D to my mind, armour reduces your chance of taking damage when you are hit is how it works to me
  8. It depends what condition your books are in. As I said mine were getting a bit old and tattered. The monographs are pretty sturdy so it might be worth waiting until Chaosium has another sale and picking up copies on the cheap....
  9. I've bought copies simply because my old RQ3 books were getting old and tattered. But I have to regard these products as very poor efforts, would it have been that hard to do some simple editing eg change MP to PP and so on ? A missed chance for all these products which in my opinion could have been expanded and revised to make them excellent products especially the Magic and Creatures books
  10. There's a little bit about Inuit hunting methods here: http://firstpeoplesofcanada.com/fp_groups/fp_inuit3.html Along with some stuff about seasonal prey animals, Bear in mind this is canadian Inuit, but it might prove useful...
  11. Rust, I found this at Noble knight games, I have no idea if it's of any use to you but thought you might be interested. Ignore the lurid cover- Avalanche press seemed to have a bit of a fetish about that sort of thing http://www.nobleknight.com/ProductDetail.asp_Q_ProductID_E_14940_A_InventoryID_E_2147595706_A_ProductLineID_E_2137417476_A_ManufacturerID_E_110_A_CategoryID_E_12_A_GenreID_E_
  12. The thing is, this is only the first of several books according to Shaira, I must say I'm looking forward to this........
  13. Dunwich actually is in the UK, at least what's left of it...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunwich
  14. Mind you it gives the colonists a cracking good reason to build their own ship and sail back in the other direction......
  15. Well, bear in mind these are harn master prices. also is iron so cheap simply because it is so plentiful at that source or geographical location. Once you've trnasported a cargo of finished weapons across 3,000 odd miles of ocean sthrough terrible storms dodging icebergs, whales and sea serpents on the way the price is going to be considerably higher when you arrive.... And of course if a bunch of traders managed a monopoly they could charge pretty much what they like....
  16. There was an old RQ3 supplement ( sorry, can't remember which one ) which dispensed with the whole notion of CON, HP and AP for constructs. It took the view that in effect the body of the Golem ( or whatever ) being solid also represented it's AP and it's CON. So to take a stone golem as an example, it had no CON and no HP, each location had 25AP which were also it's HP, so there was just one value ie 25 as opposed to two values 25/25 if you see what I mean. In order to destroy it you had to overcome the 25 value by damage. The location then reduced to 24 and so on and so forth. I haven't explained it particularly well but I think you can see what I'm driving at. I rather liked it. After all if you're an animated statue there is no divide between your armour and your body, both are literally rock hard, though I suppose you could put a suit of armour on over the statue.....My point being that the body of such a construct is so dense and tough that it is in it self a form of armour.
  17. These are also interesting: Farm, Forge and Steam http://www.rpgnow.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=farm+forge+and+steam&quicksearch=1&search_filter=&filters=&search_free=&search_in_description=1&search_in_author=1&search_in_artist=1&x=4&y=6 and for trading: Silk Roads http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=12185&it=1 same people that did 'A magical medieval Society'
  18. Keep an eye on Noble Knight games, they turn up second hand copies at reasonable prices: http://www.nobleknight.com/ViewProducts.asp_Q_ProductLineID_E_58_A_ManufacturerID_E_7_A_CategoryID_E_12_A_GenreID_E__A_Page_E_3_A_hidepictures_E__A_ItemsPage_E_20
  19. The Chaosium monograph: The Green has lots of new Sorcery based spells in it ( the author lurks on this very forum ! ) and is a pretty fine setting supplement as well. Already mentioned is Classic Fantasy which has more Magic spells in it than you can shake a stick at. Likewise if you can find the old Elric supplement there is a lot of good stuff in there as wel.
  20. Well, I've ordered copies of: Rubble and Ruin, The Green, Dragon Lines and a couple of Cthulhu bits.
  21. Gypsy vampire hunters with superhuman powers as the result of being the children of vampires ? of course we want rules for them. I'm amazed you needed to ask
  22. What's supposed to happen ? I click on the little page symbol and.....nothing ?
  23. If you can find it the old MERP supplement Hands of the Healer had lots of stuff about herbs and herbalism, lists of plants and so on.
  24. You know what your problem was don't you ? You weren't offensive enough to everybody equally If you'd just called all the white people 'palefaces' you'd have been fine Seriously though, don't let it put you off doing more material. I really liked Aces High. It's pretty obvious you've done extensive reading about Amerindian tribes, mythology and folklore ( in itself I'd of thought that showed an interest that ran against any accusations of rascism ) Anyway, more stuff would be welcome. Maybe you could do regional books focusing on various parts of the old west ? Mississippi valley, great plains , western deserts, rocky mountains etc etc. You could look at geography, history, tribes, ( including magical traditions ), flora and fauna , supernatural creatures and spirits. A bit like the old MERP campaign modules if you're familiar with them , but for Aces High
