  1. Well, I was going to buy The Savage North anyway so this was a pleasant surprise ! One copy ordered.....
  2. I voted for aces high, 2 reasons: 1) I don't own The Green or Witchcraft yet so it's kind of hard to comment on them. 2) I thought Aces High was a corkingly good supplement. It actually inspired me to run my first ever 'weird west' game.
  3. I must admit I'd prefer to keep the reviews as a seperate section as they were beforehand. I don't think fear of offending people will stop the posting of reviews...I think we're all big enough here to accept valid criticism and acknowledge differences in taste and opinion. I suspect what's stopping the posting of reviews is sheer laziness ( or inertia if you want to be more forgiving )
  4. I suppose it was a cultural thing. After all they've hunted everything else with the same tactic: fly in close and fill it full of arrows. If it works for flying dragons why not for aircraft ?
  5. I must admit I rather enjoyed it, admittedly after about 10 minutes I felt I could have outlined the remainder of the plot on the back of a napkin with a fair degree of accuracy ( and I was right ) but apart from that I really enjoyed it. One thing I want to know. You know near the end just before the big battle when the naboo..er ...that is: na'vi are clinging to the sides of the flying mountains whilst the fleet of VSTOL craft are flying beneath them ? Instead of swooping down and getting the shit shot out of them....why didn't they just drop big rocks into the rotor blades ?
  6. Oh no...even more stuff to spend my money on. I might as well be honest with myself and just admit I'm going to buy everything produced for the game It looks excellent.
  7. Oh no ! even more ways to spend my money on bands that write 15 minute songs Looks pretty interesting actually. I'm such a sucker for prog rock, must be my age.
  8. Rust, thanks for that, it's exactly what I was looking for: a step by step guide to setting up my accountand ordering stuff telling me exactly which buttons to press :thumb:
  9. well.... The reason I ask is I need a little bit of a favour. sad old hippy that I am I rather like a German prog rock band called Eloy. Now I'm slowing working my way through their back catalogue on CD. However some of their Cd's are only available in Germany, second hand only in the UK and at silly prices. So I'm looking for someone who can either guide me through setting an Amazon.de account. or if they are so minded would consider purchasing something on my behalf and accepting a payment in return via paypal. yours in hopefulness, Agentorange
  10. Now the software upgrade is done, what should I be seeing when I call in ? I'm still seeing the rather ugly blue and white layout. I can remember triff saying that you didn't have to have this i.e it was an option. ( since I don't look at the site at work I don't need to look inconspicuous ) So how do I set the site for the prettier option ?
  11. Maybe I need a browser upgrade, I'm still running, erm, er, IE4. Am I falling behind the times. ? Seriously though I liked the style of the old site much better, nice artwork, good layout, it felt...well....friendly
  12. Since I suffer from Crohn's disease I don't drink at all any more. But when I did have a tipple I ( like Nick ) drank cider especially from these people: http://www.biddendenvineyards.com/
  13. Yeah, thats what I'm getting, added to which the links and other sections seem to have vanished. When I get the home page various sections seem to be superinposed over the top of other sections, words missing and all sorts. I'm hoping it's part of the software upgrade and things will be back to normal soon.
  14. Um... just so I don't look completely stupid here. Is the rather ugly v bulletin format what I'm meant to be seeing at the moment. Or has the software upgrade been completed and I'm not seeing what I'm meant to be seeing ?
  15. Please tell me it will be soon , pretty please.....
  16. I'll let this: rpgartwork.jpg have the last word on the subject for the moment
  17. Bizarrely the Egyption one may be the most accurate, a couple of books I've read about Egypt suggest that semi nudity wasn't all that uncommon.
  18. Sadly it's covers like that that give RPG's a bad name.....I mean those battle axes are completely inaccurate for the setting.
  19. I must admit I only went for Ancient Greece after much thought. Ancient Middle East appeals strongly. So does Rust's choice: Indian sub continent. Lots of mythology and history to draw from.
  20. I'm kind of curious, if we had a choice of historical settings which would be the one that most people would be interested in ? Now I haven't stipulated whether it's straight history , high magic history etc. But as a general background what tickles your fancy ? I've left middle ages Europe out as Alephtar Games seem to have cornered the market there. I appreciate there's a lot of other choices but these happen to be my faves so there you go. For the record I went for Ancient Greece
  21. You'll have to do a supplement now won't you ? On the question at hand I must admit my prefernce is for option A. That is one world with varying regions rather than magical mists seperating wildy varying worlds. Might as well just have lots of different worlds if you're going to do that. So....one world, varying regions. You'd need to fix some parameters. For example Minimum/Maximum technology level Minimum/Maximum temp Low/High magic level So on and so forth, all these can be argued back and forth, until people are happy. Once that is done, you can move onto geography. I reckon that a lot of people have their own ideas about what they'd like to tackle. That's fine, consider our own world we've got everything from snowy wastelands to rain forests and deserts. Island chains to super continents as long as it hangs together well there's room for all sorts of weirdness. Strange and unusual things can be explained away by high background mana or magic levels. etc etc etc
  22. My copy was waiting for me when I got home from work. Only had a quick skim through but it all looks interesting (especially the Monsters ! )
  23. So much handier having crusades close to home don't you think ? "Well, Baron L'orange where shall we crusade today ? " " Your Majesty, I thought against that little village over there, just on the other side of the stream. We could be home by teatime. The baroness is making rhubarb crumble you know " " Rhubarb crumble...mmmmm ...... with custard ? " "Absolutely Your Majesty "
