  1. Whilst slightly off topic the D20 supplements spawned some useful material. I bought all all of the following: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=1668&it=1 mongoose ancients http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=1557&it=1 New argonauts ( free download...what have you got to lose ! ) http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=536&products_id=19168&it=1&filters=0_0_0_0&manufacturers_id=536 Green Ronin Trojan war. All had useful stuff in, and both the Mongoose and Ronin books had mechanics for divine patronage and disfavour. Worth a look if you can get them cheap, and like I said the argonauts book is a free download at the moment.
  2. Some people are never satisfied, the name tag on the linothorax says Hector and you're still not happy
  3. Good lord, there's loads more than half a dozen. It's just that many of us are full blown sociopaths and thus very adept at disguising or concealing our true feelings
  4. Still, now that Pete is not writing for Mongoose perhaps he'll do that BRP Heroic Greece supplement for Alephtar Games...I mean he's done Rome so he might as well go for the full set
  5. Thanks for that Jegergryte, I've tracked down most of the English language sites. It's interesting that neither the Norwegian or Danish sites have much more to say.......maybe the original source material simply didn't say very much. Perhaps Dr Mabuse will dig something up going through the old ballads and folksongs. It does mean of course I can give them pretty much what powers I like as long as it's stuff that fits in with the feel of Norse mythology. Like the 4E guys I envisaged them ( in their first stage at least ) as being bird sized, though larger than a normal raven. For such a bird to kill a human this would imply: extreme strength enhanced natural weapons immunity ( part or total ) to non magical/blessed weapons The immunity to weapons would fit in with were creatures and also Draugr
  6. That made me laugh Seriously, any help you could offer would be great. Many thanks
  7. I ask because I'm trying to find out some info about a Danish supernatural monster called a Valravn. It's a sort of undead raven/crow type thing. Wikipedia and various other sites state that it had supernatural/magical powers...but not what those powers are. So I'm after someone who might be able to dig through some Danish sites for me and come up with a little more info. Thanks in advance...
  8. Locational order for me ( option 2 )
  9. And lets face it which is going to be more fun to roleplay ? 1) leaping from the wooden horse, running to the gates of Troy and letting the Greek army in whilst desperately holding back the warriors of troy for a few vital seconds 2) ambling over to a farmer and explaining the finer points of turnip growing
  10. It'd be Heroic age Greece for me, think of all the lovely monsters !
  11. I must admit I'd buy this. I enjoyed both Perdido Street Station and The Scar, though The Iron Council didn't grab me in quite the same way. As an aside how's Interplanetary coming along ?
  12. mmmmm.......maybe something around the allegiance rules ? The average peasant or whatever starts off neutral ( or pretty close to it ) 50 points towards the rebellion 49 for the ruling elite. Every time the PC's stop the evil barons troops from looting the village they shift towards the rebellion 10 points, everytime the PC's nick some chickens they shift 5 points towards the rulers etc etc. Do it for each village or hamlet ( rather than individuals ). When they reach a critical point say 80% then they're bona fide members of the rebellion just waiting to get out the pitchforks and flaming torches. All very rough and ready, but I'm sure you get the idea.
  13. Sorry, I'm a bit confused how can you have CoC or Elric themes if there's no game stats ? Horror theme I can see,but CoC is a specific system........
  14. No cowboys and aliens for you until you get the Aces High Companion written
  15. I'd second what Rust said, it's mostly mythos based so not very suitable. That said some Coc supplements are useful as bestiaries. Cthuthu Invictus has a nice bestiary based on Greek and Roman myth. Secrets of Kenya has a lot of natural African animals ( giraffe, hyena etc etc ) Obviously you need to do some work around hit locations and so on but that's not too hard.
  16. Or to use another example from christianity took at the furore over gay priests, civil partnerships etc. In allegiance terms you could have such values as conservative/liberal, reformist/traditional etc etc
  17. Even within single deity religions there is plenty of room for division. After all look at christianity: protestant, catholic, orthodox and thats just the main groups let alone your various heretics such as the cathars, hussites etc etc.
  18. The moon on a stick ? nah, I'm not that ambitious. A supplement will do just fine though. It's a bit like having a baby I'd imagine. I'm told the second one is always easier
  19. It's a great source book. What we really need is a supplement With more supernatural creatures, more spells, more shamanic rituals, a section on sacred sites and how they interact with the magic presented, in depth cultural looks at various native american tribes, more guns, detailed geography of various areas, mississippi steamboats ( and gamblers ! ) just..... more not that I'm hinting or anything.
  20. All of the above ? Seriously though, I'm not too worried about scenarios, I can make my own up. A timeline isn't that important except insofar as it enhances the background.
  21. The other possibility might be if you've several shortish PDF scenarios/adventures to compile them at some point into a book....
  22. How long is the PDF adventure you mentioned ? long enough to consider a print or POD version....I'm just not a big fan of PDF's. Sorry I'm just old fashioned that way. That said I'll probably buy it anyway. I ordered my copy of the main book yesterday so should have it soon. The big supplement you mentioned sounds rather fine as well
  23. Good stuff, though I'll be waiting for the dead tree version
