  1. Wow, what a horrifying yet inspiring story. My hat is off to you, sir, for getting through all that. Amazing.
  2. I'm no legal expert, but technically I think it's a breach of copyright. Normally, copyright laws don't allow you to reproduce in any way what you've bought. So if you've bought a book then you're not allowed to scan a copy to PDF. If you've bought a PDF you're not allowed to print it. Now it's highly unlikely that anyone is going to take legal action against you for printing a copy for personal use. And it's unclear even if they did whether the case would be found to be against you for this sort of "reasonable" use. It's at least courteous to ask the author for permission to do this sort of thing.
  3. I'm pretty sure that I heard @Jeff say at Dragonmeet that he's already been using Martin's book as a reference source.
  4. "Cost" was I think intended in the past tense by @soltakss there. Martin had a very limited number of hard copies made up at his own expense and took them to sell at Dragonmeet in London for £60 each, and they were almost all spoken for before he even arrived at the show. I don't think anyone knows what the POD price will be from DTRPG, since that option isn't available yet.
  5. Seem to be back up on DTRPG now, along with the other four initial publications from the JC.
  6. There's plenty of content you can play with - all the RQ2 (Classic) material, for example. The RQ Classic reprints give you years' worth of playing material on their own. At the Dragonmeet seminar last weekend, Jeff and Jason made it clear that there's absolutely tons of new stuff in the pipeline. But they're working on getting all the main rules and background stuff (e.g. GM Sourcebook, Cults of Glorantha and Red Book of Magic) in place before they un-stop the dam and let the flood forth.
  7. Sorry, I over-reacted. I can understand the disbelief here - I don't follow this BRP discussion specifically, but I scanned this thread and the sticky on BRP and OGL and it does make sense that there would be some scepticism here. But honestly, Chaosium said it's happening. This was early on in the seminar, it wasn't a throwaway remark, and I can't remember if it was @MOB or @Jeff that said it (I think it was MOB) but it was said very clearly. Not only Questworlds (HQ) for an OGL and SRD but BRP as well. And they went on to give those caveats in that you couldn't publish your own reinvented RQ Glorantha, or Cthulhu, but otherwise you publish your own game with altered versions of the BRP rules. Jason Durall gave an example of something that wasn't protected by IP as a Robin Hood game (he wasn't saying that Chaosium were developing one, to be clear, this was just an example of what someone could publish). Jeff said that this was kind of like a new version of the BRP book. If I remember correctly then it was either said or implied that the BRP OGL and SRD were behind Questworlds in terms of their progress. So this might be why (my own speculation) nothing has been announced before on this. Believe it and rejoice, BRP fans.
  8. I've followed up on my promise and bought the PDF too - thanks guys!
  9. Very minor pedantic correction - it's the GM Sourcebook that will have the heroquesting rules, not the Campaign book.
  10. Thank you for the massive vote of confidence in my reporting. Why do you apparently disbelieve what the people who were at the seminar are reporting was said? You realise that MOB was part of the panel talking about this, right? The QuestWorlds OGL and SRD hasn't been the subject of a big announcement yet from Chaosium. On that basis, what sort of announcement would you be expecting Chaosium to make?
  11. Also see Simon Phipp's excellent website with tons of resources on heroquesting, including suggested rules - http://www.soltakss.com/indexsoltakss.html
  12. I might be missing the point here, but yesterday at Dragonmeet in London, at the "Runequestions" seminar Chaosium (Jeff, Jason, MOB and Ian) announced that as well as the upcoming OGL and SRD for Questworlds (HeroQuest rules), they will also be releasing an OGL and SRD for BRP. So that sounded like an updated BRP, and not only that, since with the OGL people will be allowed to publish their own altered version of BRP (with a few restrictions, e.g. you won't be allowed to produce your own BRP based on Glorantha, Pendragon or Cthulhu).
  13. Won't fiction cost a lot less per page than a rulebook due to the lack of art (other than the cover) and the simple B&W layout and printing?
  14. I updated the RQ section based on the information given today in the "Runequestions" seminar at Dragonmeet in London (just based on my own notes, and of course I could have missed something or got something wrong).
  15. I'm at Dragonmeet and Martin very kindly let me have a quick look at a hard copy. Wow! This is a fabulous piece of work. Congratulations Martin!
  16. Also bear in mind that some of the major characters in the written Gloranthan history (e.g. Argrath) were PCs in various in-house campaigns (e.g. Greg's own campaigns). So there's no reason to take it all as written in stone. You can choose to take the past history up to your own campaign date as written, if you like, or you can choose to change some of it. And you can certainly choose to do whatever you like from your campaign date forward. Why do things *have* to turn out as documented? Almost certainly things will change. Above all, YGWV.
  17. There are a few downsides to having a high credit rating, of course. You might not be able to "blend in" with folks with a lesser credit rating so easily, e.g. if you are trying to go "undercover". You might find that some with low credit ratings won't trust you, because you're not "one of us". It's not all upside. Creative keepers can easily find ways to disadvantage those with high credit ratings who seem to be perhaps trying to over-use their privileges.
  18. Have you got a copy of the HQ Core Rules? If you haven't, it's well worth picking up a copy of the PDF. I found that reading it after I'd ready HQG was very helpful. I feel that in writing HQG, a little too much of the general advice and (particularly) the examples found in the HQ CR was cut out (understandably, since they had to put in a lot more Glorantha content), and that detracted from understanding some of the intentions behind the rules.
  19. I'm pretty sure that @jajagappa meant that he was changing "Marginal Victory" to "Yes, but ...", not that he was changing Marginal Defeat to that too (which would be "No, but ..." in this way of thinking). See below:
  20. Yes, I can try "Advanced" but as I said earlier, my mobile provider blocks the site as unsafe. I don't agree that it's a problem with my ISP. It's my browser (Chrome on Android) reporting a problem with the chaosium.com certificate.
  21. There seems to be something wrong with the security certificate at chaosium.com. This leads to my mobile provider blocking me from the site on security grounds unless I use a VPN to stop my mobile provider interfering. So I can't access Jason's Q&A document, for example.à See attached screenshot.
