  1. I believe every single one of the PCs in my campaign picked up Mobility, arguing that being able to run away fast counts for a lot near Dorastor. RQ also isn’t the kind of game where opponents are expected to be balanced and defeatable. If something seems too tough, hopefully your GM isn’t forcing that fight. Extreme monster stats serve to show that some things are really hard to fight (this is true already of the Crimson Bat in the Bestiary, which is a lightweight compared to some Chaos terrors).

Biting gnats can make a real number on reindeer, too.

I always wonder whether this is an actual reference to "Optimus Maximus", a title of Jupiter.

My thought about something that kills horses but merely annoys or mildly hurts people might be some kind of (possibly large) flying insect-like creature that comes in flocks. Like a perhaps scarier gnat.
  5. This actually might be part of why they keep in bands. Majority opinion out of five people’s Sense Chaos is a lot sounder (both for Type 1 and Type 2 errors).
  6. There could potentially be a hero cult of him while alive?
  7. I think calling out the royal bodyguard that way would... lead to complications.
  8. By the way, what did the royal bodyguarding look like on Wilddays? Were they able to do their job even then?
  9. My interpretation here is that there’s an amount of give for both. They’re supposed to go ”Foul slime…” or just start chopping respectively, but certain circumstances get to override it and apparently the Spirits of Reprisal think this is alright. This is a bit like how Storm Bulls are duty-bound to search out Chaos, but apparently don’t have to attack Snake Pipe Hollow or Dorastor all the time anyway. Practicalities seem to be allowed.
  10. Sure. Each Chaos is All Chaos. But apparently, social conditions (such as royal protection) can be enough to not start wailing on them.
  11. Particularly impressive as I hear they marched on their stomachs, which seems a difficult way to go about it.
  12. Even when the party can pool their crystals and matrices for a duel?
  13. In my experience, PCs get to prep for a fair number of fights (although certainly not all). In a Humakti duel in particular, whoever has the most MPs will cast the bigger Sword Trance, and then dominate the duel as Sword Trance completely overshadows differences in the sword skill. This does not seem like MGF.
  14. Via Matt Easton: Some things, like polearms and bows, you can really only carry in your hands when travelling. And you only have two of them. Barring a horse, pack animal or servant, you likely can’t carry both a long spear and a bow.
  15. I was one of the first proponents of Defensive Boosting being RAW, but even then my comment was ”but this would be weird so it probably isn’t intended”.
  16. Dump 10-20% of the MPs into Defensive Boosting and you’re golden.
  17. Yelmalio really suffers under the RQG paradigm. It used to be that Rune Magic was far off but 90% in a weapon from a gift was a massive deal, but now that you have Rune Magic from start and can easily pick up 90% anyway…
  18. Berserk + Shield is going to be pretty decent even against non-Chaotics, I’m thinking.
  19. It makes sense to me that if you rebuild the city and put up a temple, you can “reactivate” a City God.
  20. I’m a little unclear on exactly what the requirements for Worship are when it’s an Associated Cult’s holy day. Sanctify doesn’t seem cult-specific, so your own Sanctify would work. Do you need an initiate of the regular cult to lead the Worship when yours is associated, and/or do you need members of the regular cult to participate? I think it makes sense to require this, but the rules aren’t explicit. If you can both make your own sanctified area and run your own Worship, then the need for travel is obviated (although you earn one less RP).
  21. Huh, really? That was unexpected. On the other hand, that just adds a couple of MPs. You’re likely full the next morning, and does it really matter even if you would be down a point or two?
  22. Rapidly increasing Worship skills + temple and day bonuses + topping up with MPs means that I have yet to see anyone roll at less than 95%. Everyone should have a full tank the next morning at the very latest - the MP cost is low and a few points are all you need.
  23. I like them as large as possible. I also may not be representative.
