  2. While I think Runequest does need a regrow limb spell a players get them removed very often,. I think attaching a lost limb should not be an instant heal.. Perhaps if you re attach a limb its only gets one hit point back and is useless for the first day and then the next week there a minus on strength and skill checks until it fully heals.
  3. To be honest I never liked how healing magic worked in any roll playing game but understand why it works the way it does. The hey a troll just cut off your arm, let me glue it back on presto good as new healing just seems wrong. But to stop an adventure after the first battle cause the main fighter lost his arm to lucky hit would slow the game down big time. Perhaps some mechanism so if the player suffer a major wound magic can fully heal it but have it take some time before its good as new.

  5. What can I say. I filed the serial numbers off Apple Lane recently and put Gringle Pawnshop and the Rainbow mound Outside Pavis on the road to Sun Country for a new group of players
  6. Looks like we all love the Gloranthan Classic here. Another thing you could do is start in Griffin Mountain and then send your players to Pavis /Borderlands as there a scenario that sends the players on a caravan to Pavis .
  7. Would not many of the poorer resident around New Pavis and in Prax have sod cabins ( Like used in the Great Plains of the USA in the 19 century) since they are quick and cheap to build?
  8. Glad to hear that. One problem in Glorantha is keeping half the party from trying to kill the other half one the first mission, unless you force the players into a set mode. And there almost always somebody that wants to play a sorcerer . So I now just nudge the would be Sorceror toward the Aeolains and the Orthodox Orlanthi are from allied clans/trading partners.
  9. So how do Orthodox Orlanthi view Aeolians? If an Aeolian Sorcerer showed up in Sartar or Pavis Would they be seen as some one with strange beliefs but acceptable or a heretic to be burned at the Stake?
  10. Idea of Guild was in Greyhawk and Blackmoor and then expanded in the Judges Guild stuff. Dang Now you making me feel old. I remember getting my copy of Greyhawk and thinking it was the greatest thing ever.
  11. Another thing about raising and lowering power was the making of magic items. I like the way RQ3 handle making items. Yes it was costly in the short run , but paid off in the long run. So I for one want to see the spending and increasing of power.
  12. I guess Im in the minority as I never liked the idea you needed to go to a large Temple to renew/get certain spells as it almost forces player to join the larger cults of their area. For example if you want to be an Ax maiden of Babeestor Gor in a Pavis campaign there are no temple that I know of listed in either Pavis or Sun Country for Babeestor Gor in either place and you are stuck to shrines in other Earth Temples for spells. So you have to travel to the Paps( IF there a temple there) while the Orlanthi just has to walk across the street to renew his spells. Perhaps we could have major temple set up to patheons instead of individual deities so a Worshipper of Heler and or Vinga could renew their spells at the Orlanth temple instead of having to travel to a specific temple dedicated to them.
  13. The awaken Herd beast among Praxian, Shadow cats with Orlanthi, Bats with some Lunar cults and Hawks with the Yelmalio are in effect Familiars even if they are called Allied spirits instead. And human nature being what it is, if one groups has a nice toy, other will try to get something similar for themselves.
  14. Was wondering if there any information on what types of Familiars if any are approved of in Malkoni society. Familiars( Or as they are called Allied spirits) are common in other religions in Glorantha but are limited in types to certain animals. And I was thinking Malkoni might have a list of what is and is not acceptable in polite society for familiars. As for My players, One had a Zombie, Herd men(Pre nerfed) where the favorite because of their high int and hands, and I heard in other games people liked dinosaurs. But in Malkoni society I was thinking undead might not be socially acceptable( Except for the Vadeli), Herd men not much better, and dinosaurs just considered too dangerous.

    New RQ skills

    One thing I noticed about switching from ticks to skill rolls was it effect on Sorcerers since I use the RQ3/ Magic book magic system. Sorcerers are need a huge amount of skill points to be effective( Or dominate the game as some say) . Skill rolls slow sorcerers down big time. They might get to God status some time, but its now a long slow road.

    That the way I run it. a few broad categories and then if you feel a need to specialize you can. For example "survival" allows you to know which plants you can eat at a basic level. But if you have herbalcraft you know which ones have healing properties too.

    One of the things I always loved about the BRP system is if you feel that you should add a new skill, it simple to do. Like adding a new knowledge skill(wife birthday) :=)
  19. Add me to the camp that like hit locations and armor. For me at least Runequest characters should have that hard scruffy look , with well worn and stained armor, looted or bought from various sources. Knights in shiny plate armor belong in different games.
  20. Just want to thank everyone who piped in and supplied information. From a game master viewpoint , I know there always going to be at least one player who going to want to play a sorcerer , and having it so the other player should want to lynch any sorcerer does not make for good game play. Also a Sorcerer would be a valuable asset for the ruling class, even if the peasant distrust them. And rulers tend to find a way to justify having something around, even if the Priests consider it a sin( Like Crossbows in Medieval times)
  21. I also like the power economy as it was easy to use and for players to understand. But I do understand Harshax point and having the players EARN the right to get divine spell would be good too. Perhaps having some sort of allegiance system similar to that in Stormbringer/Magic World where a player could spend one point of power to learn a point of divine magic for every 10 allegiance points he had to his God. Or what ever number people think is good.
  22. My two bolgs. I been a fan of Glorantha since since I I first played a Folio game called white bear/Redmoon. And there been something about every version of Runequest I like and would like to see in future version.. My favorite version is RQ3 but I like the damage modifiers in RQ6 so a Great troll did not auto kill everyone it hit. I also like mysticism and I hope it is in the next version of Rq.. But I did not like the fact it was almost impossible to raise statistics.
  23. Class balance is an illusion at best as it does not take in a GM running style. For example one of my best players has very basic combat skills, plays his character as a coward who avoids fighting, but is very skilled in social skills. He tends to talk his way out of fights instead of slugging it out. Which considering how brutal D100 combat is, is a good thing. As for the two system I added, Rune magic is for players is weaker then others in many ways because it requires you to prepare the spells ahead of time. And Mysticism has been balance for RQ6 so porting it over was no problem
  24. BRP for the skeleton core of my Frankenstein system. I use BRP mostly cause it available and my new players can get a copy of it. .For magic I use The Magic book/RQ3 system as I think its the best magic system out there. I have also allowed Mysticism from RQ6 and a Modified Rune magic system from Advance sorcery . I also use the damage modifiers for Strenght and size from RQ6 so a giant does not auto smear everything it hits. For experience I use a modified OpenQuest system. I give out 10-20 points a game , but each point raise a skill by one point to learn a new spell cost 10 points and to raise a stat is 15. I use Mongoose legendary abilities as a reward for doing a heroquest.
  25. So anyone know what faction are planned. I understand Sky, Chaos, Air and Darkness are in the base game.. For one I would later like to see Prax(Spirit?) Lunar, Malkoni, Kralorera and maybe Earth and sea
