  1. I loved working on that article and discussing it with you Carl.
  2. No Civil War needed, and I am not a guy who goes around stating what is or isn't canon. In this case I am merely stating the source of Duck Gulch and where it was published. To that end, please see the map that was published in Tales of the Reaching Moon #14 on page 37 of Carl Pates' Sins of the Father Praxian scenario. This was the first issue of Tales I worked on back in 1996.
  3. Out of curiosity, I see a number of people in this thread use phrases like "lots of people" and "loads of people" when it comes to the number of people interested in purchasing MW material. Anyone care to put an approximate number on what they feel "lots of people" represents? 10 people, 50 people, 200 people, more? As for the three types of licenses: 1. Fan Use. Quite simply, if you don't want to make any money, we don't need to either. 2. Limited license for one year ($100) or three years ($200). You can make a bit of money to cover your costs without the hassle of sales reports and royalty payments. You can make a bit of money, and so do we. If you blow past the sales cap of $2000 we would happily switch you over to a commercial license and let you carry on. 3. Commercial License. You pay no money up front, by the way. You sign a contract with us, and most deals do not take that much time to set up. You pay royalties (very small percentage) based on sales. If you want to know how our licensees feel about how well it works for them, please ask them. These deals are not sealed with an NDA. One of the benefits of the Commercial License is that we happily advertise your products in our Ab Chaos newsletter. We want you to succeed.
  4. Au contraire, mon frère. Please see the top of "overall route" map on page 37 of Tales 14. The map is for Carl Pates' Sins of the Father scenario.
  5. Duck Gulch is a holy place out in the wastes. Remember it when you look into the night sky...
  6. Dog Might Games is about a 20 minute drive from my house. I have visited there a couple of times. The have an impressive operation and take their craftsmanship and quality very seriously. They use real hardwoods and don't skimp on details, materials or finishing. That's why it was easy to want to partner with them. Right now they are just starting to explore what themed items they produce for Call of Cthulhu, RuneQuest, and Chaosium in general. Have a look at their website and you see something there they are making for another company, and you think it would be cool if they did X or Y with some of our art, please let us know. DMG are very keen to make what people want to buy.
  7. Where the Rock Speaks? Who isn't a fan of Dwayne Johnson... 🙂
  8. All those corrections and some typo corrections are in the second printing.
  9. Considering that you have both the artisan and regular character sheets available in the Pack I don't see a problem.
  10. We have a two page PDF of each of the substantive changes made between the printings. We have posted it a number of places. It includes page numbers so you know what pages to print out from the PDF, as desired. CHA4028 second printing corrections.pdf
  11. HeroQuest is a very different rules system to everything else Chaosium publishes. As for MW, we do not feel it is in the company's best interest to make it OGL. If someone is keen to produce something for MW under license, they are welcome to contact us.
  12. This just arrived this week. These are photos of the final printed items that will go into the GM Screen Pack. These are getting collated, and will be headed to the warehouse soon. This is an advance copy of the ACTUAL FINAL items.

    Thank you

Thank you for your kind words of support. Speaking of RQ Classic adventures, we also released my personal favorite campaign Griffin Mountain as well as Snake Pipe Hollow a while back.
  14. The biggest functional difference between the RQ Classic line of books and the Gloranthan Classic line of books are the stat blocks. For example, if the original book had 8 guards in it with identical stat blocks, the Gloranthan Classic book would have a single stat block labelled "Guards 1-8". The RQ Classic book will have 8 individual identical stat blocks labelled Guard 1, Guard 2, etc. If I wanted to play the scenario, the RQ Classic book would be more useful. If I just want to read the difference wouldn't matter. A bit of history: When we did the Gloranthan classics we had to be very careful not to use the word "RuneQuest" because the trademark was at first owned by Avalon Hill and then Hasbro. Greg did not own it again until after we were done with all 4 volumes of the Gloranthan Classics. That's all moot now that Moon Design owns the trademark as well as the copyrights on the RuneQuest, HeroQuest, and Gloranthan material produced by Chaosium, Avalon Hill, and Issaries Inc. Also, when the Gloranthan Classics were produced they were mainly set up to be printed products. Believe it or not, PDFs weren't as big of a deal in 1999 when Pavis & Big Rubble was sold. Unfortunately, printing and including the big printed maps wasn't as easy back then, so we did not include any of the big poster maps electronically or in printed form. Things have changed now so we are including the big maps as PDFs.
  15. Regular Slipcase set will be $119.99.
  16. The RQG slipcase set only has the second printing of the Rulebook in it. All the first printing is pretty close to sold out globally, regardless. Each of the items in the slipcase set will be sold separately. The Leatherette slipcase set items will also be sold separately. That has been the plan since the beginning, and has not changed since we first announced the slipcase set had gone to the printers. The empty slipcase will exclusively be sold on Chaosium.com for a while, but possibly not long term, depending on how quickly it sells out. We do not expect FLGS to sell "partial" slipcase sets. They can sell the individual items of course.
  17. The second printing of the rulebook has numerous small corrections made to the text.
  18. We decided that for the 200 sets made we would price it between the 7th edition Leatherette books (which were priced too high at $400 in the Kickstarter), and the RQG ones.
  19. The 7th edition quickstart and Alone Against the Flames both had their layout updated. We plan to do likewise with Cthulhu Through the Ages and one or two other smaller 7th ed. B&W products.
  20. We don't have any plans to update the Keeper Rulebook and Investigator Handbook to match the new template, at least not any time soon. We are focusing on new product as much as possible. We have chosen to update some 7th edition products to the new standard layout if they had a much more dated layout.
  21. The books are still being printed and collated. We will announce when they are on the boats and we have an estimated arrival date to our warehouses. The MSRP for the full slipcase set is $119.99. We have no control over when/if any store (physical or internet) orders our products. I would imagine that distribution won't order the books until at least late February, so I doubt that eBay pre-order seller will have their stock before March or possibly April.
  22. Yes, there are some plans for releasing more material for Lovecraft Country.
  23. Whilst perusing various old documents I stumbled across this awesome RQ2 skill: GREG: There have been occasions when I have been reffing an expedition and, in explaining events, appearances, etc. have dropped all the clues I thought necessary for the players to have gotten the message. Sometimes they don't, and I am occasionally aware that it is a situation which the characters would recognize, but the players don't. What to do short of telling them? I have them roll their SPOT OBVIOUS skill. SPOT OBVIOUS: (perception skill) If a successful role is made the characters which did so receive the information first and act on it. ("Hey you guys, that's not a statue!) To find your ability, use this formula: (20 minus INT)X5 as a percentile die roll. Yes, that's right. The dumber you are the more likely you will spot the obvious. Oh yea, this cannot be trained, but can only go up with experience. I will also agree that you should probably get your natural perception bonus, too.
  24. Eric, I'm 99.99% sure that the OP is specifically asking about the Chaosium CoC supplement called "Beyond the Mountains of Madness", and not the original work of fiction.
  25. The Chaosium has BtMoM on our list of titles to potentially update for the 7th edition. However, it is not currently on our production schedule. We might do a POD version of it in the mean time, but it is not currently available as POD. Also, I feel I should point out that Amazon is often a very poor place to shop for such out of print items. You will have far better luck if you patiently watch Ebay for the book to be auctioned at a reasonable price. Some Buy it Now copies are expensive there too, but I have seen decent copies go for $50-$100 every few months.
