    Day's Rest

I don't have much info on Days Rest. I was only there for one day, and was napping most of the time... 🙂
  2. Kloster and Darius, I think you both need to take a step back and cool off for a bit. This shouldn't go down the road of personal attacks. I'm not positive what is actually going on here, but the conversation is heading in a bad direction.
  3. We at the Chaosium feel great passion for the Pendragon family of games. Many of us played it back when it first came out, and still do on and off to this day. Our excitement at seeing the Chaosium logo on it after an absence of 20 years made us pause and reflect on how much we missed being its caretaker. Over the last few years Greg told us how he hoped it would one day return to Chaosium, and now it has. Stay tuned. We intend to do far more than merely reprint and POD the current and back catalog. So many things to do...
  4. 1. Yes. With updated production values. NO date scheduled. As noted, current edition of GPC is POD on DTRPG. 2. Yes, it is part of the acquisition. Progress on Paladin below. 3. Yes. Please don't ask what and when. 4. Time will tell. We have an interest in seeing Stormbringer and ElfQuest return home, and we still own the rights to Worlds of Wonder. It's early days, so please do not ask for the timing of NEW products related to this. First priority is fulfilling all remaining Kickstarter obligations. Paladin and Paladin Adventures are about to go to the printers. I reviewed print quotes for them just today. David Larkins will continue as the Pendragon Line Editor.
  5. As somebody who does have access to what is left of the print numbers for "Golden Age" chaosium publications, they list three Stormbringer printings in our corporate records. I don't mind what's on the list of versions, but I'm not going to go that deep when I list them on Chaosium's master historical SKU list. After all, the dice they put in the box varied too, and the catalog placed in the box changed about every 3 months, as did the reader response card. Heck, one archive copy we had in the Hayward office had both rulebooks in it... 🙂
  6. Dragon #132, March 1988 - Resourceful Sorcery by Michael DeWolfe.
  7. Probably, although we have no control over whether they sell it, or if one of the marketplace companies that operate on it will sell it. We certainly don't prevent them from selling it.
  8. If we had an update, we would make a more detailed post. We have no update.
  9. I think it's time we get back to discussing the topic itself.
  10. We've looked at this problem, but there is no easy solution. Most retailers are different, and have different approaches to even stocking our books, let alone when they stock them. If the store participates in Bits and Mortar they can provide you with the PDF for free when you purchase the printed product. We implemented that about 2 years ago.
  11. Unfortunately, that isn't really possible. We have no easy way to track sales such as that, or pay the store for giving you that discount. Plus, what if you returned the book.
  12. Not before the boxed set goes on sale.
  13. We do not take pre-orders on products on chaosium.com. That said, we expect to have the US bound ship dock in Tacoma on November 23rd, and then it's usually about a week or so later that we have the books in the warehouse, barring any unforeseen delays. Thus, I expect we will have the CoC Starter set for sale in early December in plenty of time for the holidays. PS: The leatherette bound books version of the Masks slipcase set is on the same ship, so that should be on sale in the same time frame.
  14. To all in this thread: Please, be mindful that I am ONLY reporting what was changed in the rulebook for the second printing. This is not the place to debate, dispute, or disagree with what was changed. Please address those questions and concerns with Jason in his "ask Jason" rules questions thread, as opposed to doing so here. We absolutely do care and want to get things right, and as clearly expressed in the rulebook as possible. This thread will only dilute the chance of those comments being addressed.
  15. We updated the PDF just today on chaosium.com
  16. The PDF is available already. CHA4028 second printing corrections.pdf
  17. All the changes I mentioned, plus a few other small ones not listed, like for typos.

  19. Yes, we will be Kickstarting Credo in the next year or so.
  20. I can't speak for Steve, but we pretty much know what stuff Greg has tucked away. He's had us sift and sort through it a number of times to look for various things we were interested in, plus Greg lived in a very small house where space was at a definite premium, and he was happy to pass stuff along to us.
  21. I have found a few ways to tell the first printing of Pendragon 1st edition from the second printing of Pendragon 1st edition. The big map has France with a blue background and there is a piece of tape printed on to it. The second printing has France shown its a white background. There could be other changes to the map, but that is the easiest to check. The Pendragon "what's in the box" sheet has an advert for the King Arthur Companion on the top half of page 2. It also has "SOLD OUT" stamped in red on the advert. The advert is gone and it's just white space in the second printing. The players book is very slightly different, although I don't know all the small edits made. One that I found is that on page 15 in the Beginning Skills Values Table, first column, "Speak Irish" is listed before "Speak Cymric". They reversed the order to make them alphabetical in the second printing.
  22. Here's my main "slows me down" problem. How much "detail" does there have to be for a cult/spirit society to be worthy of inclusion on the list?
  23. I will of course always defer to people who were there at the time, but I have a feeling that some of the various "printings" were more a "use whatever stuff is on hand" than specific planned releases. I believe that as they ran out of rulebooks they got more printed, and incorporated the errata. When they ran out of boxes they printed more boxes, and updated them along the way. It's also possible that people made mistakes and used older stock when they were supposed to not use it. Regardless, I mainly see 4 printings at work here, centered around when they deliberately changed an item. I'm absolutely not trying to argue.

  25. Greg explained the 2nd edition as a simple mistake of announcing a product before actually figuring out what the final product was going to be like. The first edition boxed set of Pendragon sold quite well. So well that they ran out of boxes, and in 1989 they sold the remaining sets of all the contents, sans box, for the lower price of $14.95 instead of $21.95. Chaosium, in true contrast to being the "Orderium" had an unfortunate history of not always updating product numbers when new editions of a game came out (like 2nd and 3rd edition of CoC both using 2301-X). When they initially planned on doing a second edition of KAP, they initially intended to keep it as a boxed set, and so they kept using CHA2701-X as the product code for it. They also announced the product to distributors. Lo and behold, as they grew closer to determining the final KAP2 product they realized that boxed games, despite their lovely nature, were just not worth the money. The boxes cost $1, were prone to damage, and certain countries taxed them differently than books. Arkham Horror was their last boxed game in 1987. When any boxed game went out of print, the next edition of the game would be a perfect bound book. Thus, the next edition of KAP had to have a product number that made sense. They already announced 2701-X as a boxed second edition of KAP, but they weren't going to do a boxed set. The "X" designation meant it was a boxed item. Thus, while they could have had the "second" edition of KAP use the next available product number 2709, they didn't want to confuse the distributors even more with having two second editions of the game floating around in their ordering systems. In the end, Greg decided just to call the new edition of Pendragon CHA2709 the "third edition", even though there never was a second edition actually produced or sold. For all I know, he thought it was funny to do so (Greg was a well known trickster). It is very possible that the first boxed edition of Pendragon had differences between printings. Those would have been only minor corrections though. None of the boxed sets was ever called the second edition. I don't even know if any of them were even labelled as a "second printing". My open copy has no such distinction, and I'm not going to open my shrink-wrapped copy.
