  1. The main reason that there aren't PDF's commercially available for Wyrm's Footnotes is simply because prior to 2015 all of the rights were not held by one company. Not having the time and resources is also a factor. Another small challenge is that you would realistically have to take the staples out of Issues 1-3 to get proper scans of them. Considering how valuable and collectable those issues are, nobody seems to be in a rush to offer up their copies for such deconstruction. Before anyone asks, let me be clear that reprinting these original 14 issues, or creating PDFs of them is not currently on our production schedule at all. I can't say I like that answer, but that's the situation. NOTE: The same applies to reprinting WB&RM and/or Nomad Gods.
  2. If you want to follow the ships carrying RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha: OOCL GENOA bound for the US: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:3533459/mmsi:477454900/vessel:OOCL GENOA CMA CGM MARCO POLO bound for the UK: https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/details/ships/shipid:199690/mmsi:235095231/vessel:CMA CGM MARCO POLO Details on the Australia shipment I will have to dig out, but it's on the same timetable.
  3. Unless you only find excitement and tension by specifically siding with or against the Lunar occupiers, I think the Lunars being gone (at least not in power) is a big refreshing change. While your campaign could have played it very differently, the one I played in had most of the factions biding their time while the Lunars kept a lid on everything. Without that central control all manner of groups and such can be on the move and trying to accomplish their goals. I have no doubt the Elder races in the Rubble all got into gear once the Lunars were gone, and I am very sure the nomads in Prax also see opportunities. I keep thinking of all these rebel groups, after the Lunars are gone, each saying to themselves, "great, now we can get back to fighting the real enemy, the XXX". It's kind of like the joke about the UK where, after the Soviets crumbled and ceased to be a big threat, the UK pointed their nuclear weapons back at their real enemy... France."
  4. Q-workshop is correcting the Hit Location D20 die so it has the correct information on it. They are also working on a plan to provide replacement dice for those that purchased the incorrect die. To limit the number of people affected by this they stopped selling the D20 as soon as they found out, and also probably stopped processing orders that had not shipped. We are working with Q-workshop to get free replacement dice sent out to those who purchased them at Gen Con or via their website. Once the corrected replacement dice are ready Q-workshop will announce how they intend to do that. Thus far there is no expectation that any dice will have to be returned.

With all respect to everyone here, what exactly is the specific concern being raised? Is someone worried that a player will show up at your gaming table with a copy of Storm Tribe (or some other book from 10+ years ago) and be utterly confused when playing RQG? If you are just talking about what is discussed online, I remember frequent debates with lots of confusion on the good old Glorantha Digest/Daily, and that was 20 years ago. I'd rather see more great books published than less. I also certainly don't worry about following canon, and pushing for specific lists of canonical material. As far as I am concerned, it's all good.
  6. RuneQuest (1st edition in 1978) preceded BRP. When the 2nd edition of RuneQuest was released as a boxed set it included the "no cardstock cover" version of BRP. Even the first printing of the boxed set had it. The original BRP booklet had two main purposes: It was meant to introduce what RPGs were all about, and it provided the basics for Chaosium's D100 house system.
  7. If you are an RPG historian and/or collector the acaeum is the best website to frequent. The people are very helpful and knowledgeable. It started with a focus on D&D and over time it has expanded to include a lot more info on all RPG related things.
  8. While I can't say I know a large number of them personally, there are dozens of serious collectors who are willing to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for specific rare RPG items. They are only interested in the original physical item, preferably in mint condition, or as near to it as they can find. If you want to see such RPG collectors discussing their hobby, take a look at www.acaeum.com and you'll see precisely that. They even have an annual dinner at Gen Con. Some of these people have RPG collections worth tens of thousands of dollars. Like any other "collectable", prices are strictly based on scarcity and desire. While most people would scoff at paying $1,000 for a crudely printed RPG item, there are some who would.
  9. Barring a large and unexpected mishap, the rest of the slipcase set (Slipcase, Bestiary and GM Screen Pack) will go to the printers in early August all at the same time. That means the those items and slipcase set will be out some time early in the 4th Quarter, and certainly this year. Final tribal edits are going into the Bestiary, the slipcase itself is a quick bit of work, and much of the GM Screen Pack is done too.
  10. If you are asking if the Leatherette books have dust jackets, they do not. The Leatherette RQG and Leatherette Bestiary will fit into the slipcase with the GM Screen Pack.
  11. We plan on all of the forthcoming RuneQuest books of 128 pages or larger each being offered in leatherette as a binding option. Each book will feature a different rune on the front. The Bestiary will have the Beast Rune. All our books have premium binding and such. The Leatherettes will be produced in much more limited quantities. Expect many more Leatherette books in the RQ line.
  12. Asking for Kickstarter updates here is very unlikely to achieve the results you want. We always post updates via Kickstarter first. We do not expect backers to have to look anywhere else, or ask anywhere else, other than via the Kickstarter website.
  13. To be crystal clear. As we have always said, in many places, the RQG slipcase set will contain THREE items: 1. RQG Core rulebook (488 pages) 2. RQ Bestiary (206 pages) 3. RQ GM Screen Pack, which is mostly comprised of a keeper screen, some short scenarios, a calendar, and a quick rule reference. I do not believe I have ever seen Jason, Jeff, or I ever say it would contain anything else, or anything different. This was entirely settled last year.
  14. There is NO boxed set for RQG planned. Please refer to it as a slipcase set. I am sorry for potentially sounding pedantic, but we do not want any false expectations set. As for coupons, our website can only handle one coupon per order (which we don't like). Because a number of people may very well have several coupons that they would like to apply towards the purchase of the slipcase set (or any other multi-book purchase) , please contact customerservice@chaosium.com prior to making your purchase and we can issue you a special coupon. That's not ideal, but the best we can offer at this time. The RQG slipcase set in printed form will probably not go on sale until October or November (depends on ocean shipping time).
  15. You are welcome to translate the fan material policy. We (chaosium) couldn't use it without verifying it for accuracy and completeness, of course. If you want to share your translation with friends, that's fine too. We have had Japanese language RuneQuest/Gloranthan related products produced by fans in the past. We aren't against that in principle, we just need reach agreement with the group that wants to do a project. Chaosium does all of its contracts and agreements in English.
  16. Yes, the deadlines have been reached. Many thanks to all who participated and contributed. I cannot help but be reminded of another speech given: STAND BACK! Be silent! Be still!... That's it... and look upon this moment. Savor it! Rejoice with great gladness! Great gladness! Remember it always, for you are joined by it. You are One, under the stars. Remember it well, then... this night, this great victory. So that in the years ahead, you can say, 'I was there that night, with Arthur, the King!' For it is the doom of men that they forget. And with that I thank you all for being a part of this latest tribal edit. I was there, with you, and it is not our doom to forget. A new PDF is forthcoming, such is our fate...
  17. We have a 10 page thread on any errors and typos people are finding in RQG currently running. We invite all to post there. We're usually the ones who set up the topic. We've done this for almost all of our books that have come out over the last 2+ years. These so called "Tribal edits" have led to numerous things being fixed. We used this system for the GSB, 13G, the RQ Classics, and also recent CoC titles. You are welcome to post BGB errors and such over in the BRP forums. Unfortunately, that book isn't currently easily updatable since it was done quite a few years back and in the previous layout software that we don't use any more. As for previous editions of CoC, they are what they are, but that was all done by the previous team that is no longer with the company. As for the 7th edition, we have already updated it a number of times, and continue to do so as and when errors and such are reported. You are also welcome to start a new thread for discussing your specific concerns about how you see the forums as stifling, unwelcoming, etc. All we ask is that is be civil in tone and constructive in nature. As for this thread, let's get it back to just being about the differences between RQ3 and RQG.
  18. Should I infer from that statement that you feel Chaosium charges too much in royalties for a commercial license? Is it something else? Side note: I am slightly biased when it comes to fanzines. I did the layout for Tales of the Reaching Moon 14-20, plus a number of other publications, including some map drawing, and even authoring a few articles. I got paid a grand total of $0 for all that. I did get a free copy or two of each publication though. I was quite happy with that arrangement.
  19. I would love to know what specific parts of the policy make it "harsh".
  20. We at the Chaosium encourage people to engage in energetic and respectful debates about our products. We do not shy away from constructive criticism. Everyone is welcome to send us negative and/or positive feedback, including mixed feedback. We see no value in echo chambers where only positive things are said. We strive to improve our products and we know that improving them isn't a challenge that will ever end. There are always more things to improve. It's an ongoing journey. While this topic, like many topics, may have more positive or supportive comments being made, I've read through enough topics to see that negative views are far from rare. I haven't seen anyone banned for questioning Chaosium or any other company whose products are talked about on this forum. People disagreeing with a post is not the same as shouting someone down or preventing them from posting. There's a whole thread of people questioning and sometimes complaining about what they have found in the RQG PDF, and you could say the same about many previous products as well. I've heard the "drink the cool-aid" phrase used to describe these forums before, and I am sure it will get said again, but I don't feel the phrase accurately describes these forums. If these forums have a majority of people who generally support and enjoy the products being discussed, I fail to see why that's evidence of group think.
  21. RQ2 was 120 pages in length, including 18 pages on "monsters" and very little glorantha in the book. RQ Classic added some material and changed the formatting slightly so it is 144 pages. I don't think most people would consider the Elder Races very "playable" as PCs in RQ2 based on what was in the rulebook. Yes, you had the stats, but nothing on their cults and culture. It's like comparing the Troll info in RQ2 to what's in TrollPak, which made Trolls playable and fun as PCs. I think it worth pointing out that the RQ2 softcover B&W rulebook was $12 in 1980. In today's money that is $34.50. The full color hardcover RQG is $55 for three times the page count.
  22. Mike and Lynne are both very busy working on numerous Call of Cthulhu projects. We have a LOT of them in the pipeline. A new edition of Dreamlands, as Mike has said, is in the pipeline, and I will only add that it won't be for sale in 2018. While Chaosium is getting better at scheduling and announcing the expected publication dates for items we still have a ways to go. We have gotten much better at knowing when we are about 6-9 months away from publication date, and that's when we will most likely announce it. While we love building anticipation for our products, we also don't want to disappoint people if we end up being late on a project. There are numerous possible delays (writing, art, editing, play testing, layout, printing, shipping) that can affect when something is ready.
  23. I have never heard of such a list, but it would be quite useful. Are you seeking the date each scenario is set in? Are you asking for the years/ages covered in historical material? For example, the RQ2 rulebook has a timeline that ends at 1613. You could say that it is set in 1613+, yet it also covers information from 1100-1613.
  24. We tend to only offer PoD on titles that we no longer have in stock and do not feel warrant another regular print run. The printed version of RQG is currently scheduled to be on sale in August. It is possible that there could be delays with shipping or clearing customs, which while rare, are largely beyond our control so that sale date is not set in stone.
  25. Elder Races:The intelligent nonhumans of Glorantha are known collectively as the Elder Races. The Elder Races have their own histories and cultures, some far more ancient than humanity. Gorillas are ground-dwelling apes that inhabit forests in southern Genertela. They are quadrupeds but can walk and stand on their hind legs. They are sentient, but slow-witted compared to humans and baboons. The baboons claim that Gorilla was an ancient Hero, tricked out of his tail by Monkey. Gorillas sometimes engage in primitive ancestor worship akin to that of the Daka Fal cult. A few particularly bright gorillas have become bandits or even mercenaries in human lands.
