  1. Thanks for the replies everyone! After reading this thread I think that this is what the writers meant. Only spirit magic spells are referred to as 'variable strength', so in RAW the Power Enhancing crystals only work for spirit magic spells. But as always, YGMV.
  2. It's a pity that they didn't reprint those cool names. Now the new players are only left with the Godlearner terms instead of Esrolian Rubies, Arroin's Tears etc.
  3. Yeah, there are Healing Focusing crystals. And the normal power Power Enhancing crystals can't boost healing spells.
  4. Do powered crystals only work for spirit magic spells? In RQ3 10% of the Power Enhancing crystals were attuned to sorcery.
  5. The bestiary dwarves seem to be using 3rd ed. armours.
  6. I think that Quickdraw used to be a skill in some Humakti subcult. And my guess for the Craft (Secrets of Iron) is that you need it to turn iron ore into metal. Dwarves are the only ones who know how to make iron, but humans can craft it and many cults teach how to enchant it.
  7. It's a pity that RQG lacks endurance rules. Good endurance rules makes for interesting situations in games when you're tracking enemies. Surprisingly D&D 3.5 had working rules, but they are a bit difficult to alter to RQG. And Runequest definitely needs rules for prosthetics . I remember reading about some early playtest where someone suggested renaming Runequest to Golfbagquest because one is needed to carry all the chopped off limbs.
  8. Yeah, same. Relearning skills would be realistic, but imo too cumbersome a mechanic. I'm using RQ3 rules for most nonmagical things, is 2 movement points a quarter of the new movement rate? And there are no exhaustion rules in RQG. Sounds good and that's also a simple rule to keep. hahaha, nice And yeah, the D&D 3.5 rules allow characters to sleep in light armours without any negative consequences. Light armours being chain shirt and helmet, padded armour, or leather armour. Makes sense. So what kind of rules would you suggest?
  9. In our last session a duck lost his leg to rubble runners and carved himself a pegleg and an Aeolian slept with his armor on. Looks like that there aren't rules for handling those situations in RQG. Yozarian from The Money Tree seemed to only change his hitpoints to armor points in the injured leg in RQ3, so I just gave the duck -20% to all skills involving moving on legs. For the Aeolian I used D&D 3.5 edition rules, ie. no running and -2 to STR and DEX until a proper rest. What rules would you use for those situations? Also what kind of rules would you use for hook hands? e: And for eye patches? Yes, this will be a pirate campaign.
  10. Last evening a NPC with the group in the Rubble lost too much of his body to rubble runner bellies to be Resurrected.
  11. And in RQG shield isn't even a cult skill, but bow, spear and pike are. In RQ3 and 2 shield skill mastery was one of the possible prerequisites for being a Light Son, but not a mandatory one.
  12. Yeah, thanks! Would you mind linking your versions?
  13. Nice! Found the site, it was Soltakss': http://www.soltakss.com/hwconv02.html A damn fine site btw. Many thanks!
  14. Agreed on all points except the Shield. But fortunately YGMV.
  15. Someone had made a site that had various HQ spells altered to RQ3 rules. Can't find it right now, but I'll try to find it. It had some spells for the Sword Sages too. Iirc one of them was Defend Knowledge, it worked like Berserk, and could only be cast if the Sword Sage was defending books or someone who had mastered a knowledge skill.
  16. The Yelmalio or Argan Argan worshipping warrior could just cast Dismiss Magic and the Shield goes away. e: yeah, I'll give Sureshot to Odayla IMG. Yinkin is the god of Shadowcats, not bow hunting, so I personally won't give him Sureshot.
  17. I'd really like to see a description of the Cult of Ygg. Yggites will have such an important role to play in the Hero Wars, and the Great Circumnavigation is such great material for adventure.
  18. Yeah, I've done this on my own character sheets. I've done the same thing.
  19. I started with the older edition when I was 9 We didn't understand all of the rules, but damn we had fun. This is the only rule you have to know: Maximum Game Fun When writing, thinking, and gaming in Glorantha, always ask yourself, “Now, in this situation what is the most fun?” and then go with it. That’s Maximum Game Fun (MGF). Keep this principle in mind whenever you apply the rules of RuneQuest to any situation.
  20. Apatosaurus ie. deceptive lizard sounds like something an Eurmali would ride, in my Glorantha they are Brotosauruses ie. thunder lizards.
  21. Hah, in the Finnish translation of the Glorantha set, the Sable tribe was translated to that kind of sables.
  22. Hah, thanks, it's been a while since I last played that.
  23. Do the Aeolians get Divine intervention?
  24. I remember there being some random encounter in the Griffin Island set where meteoroids fall from the sky and you can find various metals, iron included. Does meteoric iron still exist in Glorantha?
